It was in a show we were watching (instrumental only) and DH had no idea what it was ... lyrics here

I love Holy Night, it's not one that you hear very often here though I always tend to hear it more in films. I have it on a christmas CD though, Nat and Dean sing christmas I think.

SherlockLGJ · 11/12/2006 23:02

I go to a wonderful Mass on Christmas Day, with a string quartet, a choir that are so good the last Mass is not finished as the new Mass are filing in, I then go home to Perry Como.

Vive la diffrence.

I like it - reminds me of school as we did it in choir.

Then sang it at mass in St Brendan's church LGJ!

(Don't go to mass now though I'm afraid).

Trying to persuade DH he wants to go to a carol service here on Sunday but struggling!

SherlockLGJ - It's this Perry Como record that I remember from when I was a kid. Lots of choirs doing wordless 'oooh oooh' singing in the background in a very 60s kind of Star Trek way. A classic. Not sure what happened to the LP - I hope my sister has it. But I think I might just be buying a couple of copies of this (one for her and one for me). DH loathes it.

FredBassett · 12/12/2006 09:06

I like it too, it's in Home Alone when the Grandad goes to church.

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 12/12/2006 10:00

I love it - I'd love to sing it at some point. I have no idea what the words are, it is the melody I like

butterflymum · 12/12/2006 10:27

DingDongTiptoesMerrilyOnHigh , thanks for sharing the Josh Groban link. Have never previously heard of him but having listened, he seems a very good singer.

DingDongTiptoesMerrilyOnHigh · 12/12/2006 10:54

Butterflymum-I just came acrooss Josh Groban when I was searching "o holy night" after I heard it sung on x factor by Michelle McManus.

His version is way better and have heard him sing it with a choir as well which is amazing.
Will see if I can find it.

IdrisTheRedNosedDragon · 12/12/2006 10:55

I know it .

SherlockLGJ · 12/12/2006 19:24

JackieNo

Pretty similar to what I inflict on my DH, he loathes it, but offers nothing in its place.

CorrieDale · 12/12/2006 19:28

My local primary school included it in their Christmas play a couple of years ago. It was almost drowned out by the sniffing and hanky rustling from the audience ...

mustrunmorenakedthroughthesnow · 12/12/2006 19:42

I adore it

bobsmum · 17/12/2006 11:57

Havea listen - scroll down to Leigh Nash (of Sixpence None the Richer) It's Christmas Time

snowydelight · 17/12/2006 14:31

I grew up with it in Ireland - I love it.

wangle99 · 17/12/2006 17:40

My daughter's sang this in her school carol service last Thursday and it was fantastic

Love it!

ClementClarkeMoore · 17/12/2006 17:42

I will if you want me too?

tamum · 17/12/2006 17:49

Never heard it, but I love the Huron Indian Carol, we used to sing it at primary school (and play recorders to it, I'm afraid). Is it the same one? Something like "twas in the noon of wintertime when all the birds had fled" and then lots I can't spell?

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 17/12/2006 23:37

i remember singing it at school ..
