So far this week I have lost my job meaning that we will not be having any nice food and DH and I won't be getting any presents.

I have flipped my lid at college as the group of useless twats that I have been working with to put on a charity event next week have done bugger all and left it all down to me. Even to the writing of the 150 invites.

DS has had his 3rd ear infection this winter and has been keeping us up alllllllll night.

and now....

I open the Christmas decorations (all last years because we can't afford any extras) and after pulling the Christmas tree out I realise that the bloody base is missing so we can't put the damn thing up.

It is just the straw that has broken the camels back, I am so bloody pissed off and upset I can't explain it. It never rains but it bloody pours Xmas Sad

Can you get a bursary from the NHS? or a student loan? In the new year i mean...i doin't how to help withthe right now

flutturkey · 12/12/2006 10:04

xmasmummy I don't know what to say, I don't even know you!!!! I may be a little late but if you needed to know ds is called George. I really am lost for words

Charliecat thank-you as well for the courier part, I thought you had done enough when you helped me quit smoking at the begining of the year (1 year in Jan).

Mumofmonsters as soon as I start the actual diploma/degree then yes I will get a loan/bursary but for now I am doing the access course (12 years out of education meant I needed to prove I could still study and bring my qualifications up to date) and you get no help with that which is why I need a part time job.

I will get one (positive vibes today) but its just the timing of loosing the one I had.

Flutturkey,

Sorry to see you're having a bad time...please email soapbox with your details and she'll help out. Won't be much, but she is in the process of distributing the donations from companies which have been sent direct to her. She'll also fix you up with a Christmas Tree I'm sure!

This was what the Christmas thread was all about - bringing some cheer when things have fallen apart...so dont worry about emailing her. Soapbox @ yahoo dot co dot uk

SisterOfSoapbox · 12/12/2006 10:08

Sorry, that should have read Soapbox1964 at yahoo dot co dot uk - numbers seem to have disappeared!

flutturkey · 12/12/2006 10:15

Sisterofsoapbox - I have been in contact with soapy as I had to pull of from the Christmas thread as a giver because of loosing my job (I was so embarressed ) I told her xmasmummy was sending me a tree (and as you can see quite a few other things as well, I really am shocked at her generoucity)

reindeerkid · 12/12/2006 21:32

FLUTTURKEY dont give up studying to be a nurse something will come along it will be worth the struggle in the end

xmasmummy · 13/12/2006 17:32

flutturkey and charliecat- i missed the courier today as i was picking kids up from school. they put a card through and are coming back tomorrow xxx

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/12/2006 17:48

Wow Expat!

That was harsh! Is no-one allowed to have a rant about their misfortune then? However insignificant it may be to you?

FWIW.....Xmas vacancies are all filled in Late oct/early nov - there is no time to train people at this point - too busy.

Flutterby is studying - that is pretty impressive whilst raising children - without doing a part time job on top.

Not entirely sure what your problem is tbh?

ft, have you tried calling the agencies that provide home care staff? Particularly if you're training to be a nurse and with Christmas coming up in some areas of the country people will need carers.

flutturkey · 13/12/2006 19:05

xmasmummy - no problem, typical that they come just when you nip to get the kids. Sods law

VVV - I thought it was just me that wondered what the problem was!

Sally - I didn't realise that there was a students board, you will be seeing me there soon.

I found out yesterday that my Grandpa has died, it was at the end of last week (no one could find my Dads number to tell him any sooner as he hasn't spoken to his brothers in about 20yrs)the funeral is tomorrow (Thursday) so I am unable to go (it's in Newcastle).

It really has just topped off what has been a shockingly bad week for me. I can not begin to tell you what this little bit of kindness has meant to me, whether is has been a physical gesture or kind words.

THANK-YOU

Xenia sorry x posts

I will try them although because I don't drive I have to count out the home help type of stuff, but they might have care home work. Thanks for that.

flutturkey · 21/12/2006 18:30

Xmasmummy just want to ley you know that nothing has been recieved at this end yet, I am in a horrible worry that the things you have sent have been lost or stolen, I'm hoping that they have just been unable to find my address and have returned it to you.
