well the real tree is still alive am a little bit poor at watering it!!??? d/d playmate thought it was a false one. Let girls decorate it and guided them here and there. smell is lovely although cannot smell it anymore got used to it . last year my fake one looked horrible. cannot find house decorations so d/h home sunday way hay so he can climb into attic and hunt for decorations and stockings.

Start again when kids are in bed look great have fun. use your flylady timer and see how quick you can redecorate it

poinsettydog · 10/12/2006 21:13

You can pay people to put up your Christmas tree?

My tree looks shit hot.

santasweetdreamer · 11/12/2006 07:27

pdog, to people like xenia if you have the money you pay people to do all the crap you can't be bothered with.

santasweetdreamer · 11/12/2006 16:22

sorry xenia, just came back to this.

was written about 7.30 and I'd been up 2 hours already with ds2 and was in a grumpy mood.

the post was uncalled for and I apologise.

I'm sure your tree is lovely! and your family all enjoy it!

ssd x x x

We don't have one. Will get some twigs later and spray them silver.

DeckthehallswithboughsofhollyL · 13/12/2006 21:03

I like the spraying twigs idea! Dh came home and took one look at it before telling me how beautiful it looked. I'm not sure though. I still think it looks shit

LOL at thread title

It doean't matter if it looks shit. So long as its got soul.

crunchie · 13/12/2006 21:13

My tree looks fab But then I have my rules No tinsel, no crappy decorations except the home made kids one hidden at the back (actually they are pride of place front this year they look fab!! )
We have a real tree for teh first time ever and like xenia's it is 8' or something but we have this new conservatory so everything twinkles in reflection. I alos buy one or two nice new baubles each year and the crappy ones get lost/thrown away, so now we have a great selection of mirror balls, fluffy birds, pink and purple baubles and really nce decorations, and NO TINSEL!! tinsel on trees looks rubbish, we use a bit of lamenetta for added sparkle and that;s it

dontgivethedogsprouts · 19/12/2006 11:39

Mine is shit too! On the 'advice' of my Sister, I bought 'one of the great real ones they're selling in Wilkinson for a tenner' (I usually pay £20) it's dropping all over the place, is stood in a washing up bowl (nice) so when I water it, it doesn't leak all over the floor. It's by the patio doors and has taken to leaning at a precarious angle, it looks like it's trying to get out into the garden! Also the branches are really flimsy so all the friggin baubles keep plummeting to the floor! Grrr. It will be lucky to see Boxing Day.

Tortington · 19/12/2006 11:43

my dd did mine. with a little help from me. even to putting the lights on.

is it NAFF - shit yes its naff.

but in a great way.

my ds's g/f said " your tree is better than ours" ( a fiberoptic)

"ta!" says i.

cos its how a xmas tree shouldlook. not pretentous

sandyballs · 19/12/2006 11:46

My MIL had a little cry when she saw our tree . She likes everything all neat and colour coordinated, bless her.

ComeOyeFaithfulVeneer · 19/12/2006 11:51

We have a 3ft pink feather artificial one with attached lights. I bought it for DD (5) as we were supposed to be moving on friday (today I found out it is postponed to the 4th of Jan) so we aren't putting the real one up this year but she wanted something christmassy in the house. It is hideous but she loves it.

dontgivethedogsprouts · 19/12/2006 11:57

It sounds as camp as, well, Christmas!!

golds · 19/12/2006 11:58

I have to say normally my trees look rubbish, but this year its bloody fantastic, got a real one 8ft, beautiful and decorated it with 500 (yes 500) lights, and decorations in chocolate, bronze and gold. I think its stunning and will try to continue this every year from now on. Kids have got old artificial one in play room and it looks crap.

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 19/12/2006 11:59

eh?

trees are supposed to look like your and your family have tipped a buckets of decorations over them.

that is the whole point.

I finds colour coordinated tress so fecking depressing. Why??

NOELallie · 19/12/2006 13:17

Ours looks lovely. All bushy and green and healthy. But that's 'cos its' still on it's side in the garden. I don't doubt that it will also look like shit once we've stuck in up in the sitting room and covered it in glittery junk and tangled lights.

danceswithreindeer · 19/12/2006 13:24

Well said fillyjonk! Co-ordinated trees SUCK
ours is a mishmash and proud

Twiglett · 19/12/2006 13:27

mine looks great .. because its a mishmash .. and amongst its many ornaments are

leopardprint sunglasses (DS choice)
pink flamingo in top hat and tails (my choice)
christmas octopus x 5 ( a family tradition .. the tree is finished when the octopus are flung)

snigger

Twiglett · 19/12/2006 13:27

I really want that christmas prawn someone posted a while ago though

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 19/12/2006 13:35

Mine did look good for about ten mins, and then I tried to shove it over the the patio doors and the whole thing fell over. After that I thought sod it and sort of chucked the ones that fell off at it. Plus the dts keep strippign the lower branches so the baubles are slowly getting higher and higher.

noddyholder · 19/12/2006 13:36

ours is lovely

Ours is a tiny real one covered with glitter, care of my mum (and M&S). Too small for decorations or lights though.

dontgivethedogsprouts · 19/12/2006 16:14

Love the idea of the leopardprint sunnies, Twiglett.

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 19/12/2006 16:25

dh and I have have been really lazy in the past and not bothered atall. WE go to my parents for Christams and they have a fantastic 8ft tree.

This year for dd (2.5) we went all out and bought a beautiful real tree and decorations.
I only bought 4 baubles because they would break. Instead we have decorated it with lights and bells, with a few fluffy birds and a birdbox.
