DS1 (15) Blank sheet of paper
DS2 (14) 3 computer games

:(

I've usually done all my shopping and wrapping by now but I have nothing except a few books, a new phone case each and Pjs.

They just have everything and are good at taking care of their stuff so nothing needs replaced.

My DS saves myother. If he gets cash from GParents/Uncle/Aunt/DH and me, he saves it.
His £50 note a couple of years ago sat in his jar til April/May then I put it in his bank. (It won't gain interest on the bookshelf)

He'll buy games (he;s just got Fallout 4 )

comeagainforbigfudge · 14/11/2015 19:59

Are either of them into star wars? maybe a lava lamp

What kind of anime is the younger one into? If you can find out his favourite series or film you could get a t-shirt? here I've used them before. good quality so far on all the ones dh has.

Hth

I've got my Son a few bits but no big present, not for the past 3 years or so really, he's 16, I think that's just how it goes as they get older, now any again at other times of the year he'll think of something, then he has the cash to get it.

70, yes foldy cash indeed. [santa]

Merguez · 14/11/2015 20:08

SuburbanRhonda not all teenagers have a great social life. My DS1 (16) is acutely shy and finds mixing with his peers very difficult. He hardly never gets invited to parties.

bloodyteenagers · 14/11/2015 20:10

For anime how about some death note stuff or other anime?

Credit for the various stuff - Apple, Google, Amazon etc..

Raspberry pi stuff.

myotherusernameisbetter · 14/11/2015 20:10

Thanks for the further ideas and the tshirt link. I've used Qwertee before but you just have to wait and see what comes up :)

DS1 got this stove for his birthday madwomen it's fab:

Lightweight tents year before. But they could do with new headtorches, thanks. They have big and medium rucksacks with covers and liners and needed new boots last year as their feet had grown.

And honestly DS1 has about £1200 in his current account just from unspent pocket money and birthday/christmas money - he spends nothing.

He used to be into Naruto, One Piece and Dragon Ball z, not quite sure what he is watching at the moment.

DS1 likes drawing Manga but has all the pens/paper etc and also animation software.

The cash they buy the stuff they want. They have differing tastes in clothes. They liked alternative stuff, so easier for them to go and buy clothes. One uses it to save up for consoles as although we have them in the house, they are for general use. One for parts for pc that is very slowly being built/upgraded. And generally they enjoy choosing their own stuff. And nothing beats going somewhere like comicon and having cash to spend.

DickDewy · 14/11/2015 20:21

My 13 year old has, so far, asked for a swegway and a macbook.

He's having a laugh, obv.

myotherusernameisbetter · 14/11/2015 20:21

We went to the Gaming convention in Manchester in October. At one point I handed them £20 each although they had their own money. Ds2 bought a couple of books (about £8 worth) and DS1 bought nothing. They don't like to shop :)

I have strange children.

Manga poster for bedroom wall?
New wallets?
Anyone into science - proper microscope?

Even if they are not into fashion - my teens aren't either - maybe some funny tshirts? If too embarassing they can wear them as PJs.

Bought my 16 yo DD a David&Goliath T shirt with 2 bananas on. One says "Want to hear a potassium joke?" The other replies "K"

She finds stuff like that funny.

My son gets one that says "This T-shirt was tested on animals. They looked awsome." And lots of animals wearing T-shirts on it.

Mellifera · 14/11/2015 20:25

PS my teens are equally strange, no lists. The 6 yo makes up for it, her list is as long as my arm.

VulcanWoman · 14/11/2015 20:25

I don't think that's a bad thing that they're not into shopping, my Son isn't either, least they're aren't wasting it.

Loki17 · 14/11/2015 20:27

A gift experience? My dad bought my brother an off roading experience when he was younger. There are some quite fun activities on the Virgin website.

myotherusernameisbetter · 14/11/2015 20:28

No room on DS2s wall for any more posters :) Definitely an idea for DS1 though - I need to find one that matches his colour scheme (he has ishoos!) as he doesn't like contrasting colours.

They do have some nice (Superdry etc) t-shirts and a couple of funny ones but DS2 is needing a few tbh as he is having another spurt....

thanks Loki - nothing near us I'm afraid - plenty of access to the great outdoors but no Experiences as such. DH took them wakeboarding in the Summer

Maybe just buy the few things you've thought of or they've asked for and put the rest of your present budget into bank account for each of them? They can then buy stuff throughout the year if they fancy it or save it if they choose to.

myotherusernameisbetter · 14/11/2015 20:34

I know deep down it's a good thing that they are not spendthrifts but I also think it's a good thing to be able to enjoy treating yourself too otherwise what exactly keeps you going at work when you are young and you aren't enjoying it :o

jellycat · 14/11/2015 20:44

I feel your pain. My 14 year old has 3 things on his list, one of which is a ds game which isn't even out till sometime next year. And I have his birthday coming up just before Christmas too.

The other 2 things on his list are this T shirt and the new Dr Who lego set (he is a huge fan of Dr Who. The set isn't out till 1st Dec so I'm hoping I'll be able to get him one).

As well as these I've bought his some books from the Book people, a stand and a tin of picks things for his guitar, a mug with Physics formulae on it, a Dr Who wall calendar, Tantrix, subscriptions to How It Works and the BBC Dr Who magazine, a Strandbeest model, a couple of small Nanoblok kits and some little stationery type bits.

myotherusernameisbetter · 14/11/2015 20:58

I can probably come up with a few bits and bobs/sweets/some more books etc.

I guess I am missing the big ticket items. I'll get DS1 a new gaming keyboard and mouse and see if I can get him some nice white ones to match his PC and furniture as that will make him happy I think.

I need to see what console DS2 wants his games for and see what deals I can find.

I suppose I am sort of coming up with a sort of list :)

Thanks all.

Some cool t-shirts at redmolotov.co.uk

VulcanWoman · 14/11/2015 21:03

Maybe they'll be lucky and get jobs they'll enjoy or look forward to doing the things they enjoy after work.
Anyhoo, if they can't think of anything or give you some clues then they'll have to put up with a smaller stash on Christmas morning, are you sure they would mind anyway, you can only do so much you know.

myotherusernameisbetter · 14/11/2015 21:15

Thanks ipsi, i'll have a look.

Vulcan, in their heads they know there isn't much they want but they are still quite emotionally young and would be quite gutted if they didn't have a pile of stuff on Christmas - the logic and emotions aren't quite at the same stage of development :o

I guess I've just given them too much in the past thinking by this age they'd be looking for cash and be out and about and interested in buying their own stuff but we aren't there yet so it's difficult.

i hope they do have jobs they enjoy - they work hard at school as I've told them that it will give them the most choice. Careful to say that not passing exams doesn't mean the end of the world and that we'll still love them, it'll just mean that they'll have to make different decisions in life and might mean that they either discover things they hadn't thought of or that they need to go back to study later.
