Any ideas what to buy for my MIL? She's in her 80s but lives in a very small one bed flat, so has said she doesn't want any more "stuff" (in fact, she's said she doesn't want anything, but can't get her nothing!)

d270r0 · 15/11/2015 15:16

doistayordoigo, how about a nice hamper full of goodies to eat? Thats what I get my granil. Also my granny used to like yardley wood lavender stuff, talc or hand soap or hand cream.

squirrel76 · 15/11/2015 15:18

I've got a Nutella code going spare if anyone would like it (dancemom have just PMed you about another code if still interested!).

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 15/11/2015 15:20

thanks for the link to the playmobil fairy castle sits....DD has been keen on it and it's a good price Smiletrying to get Christmas sorted before December as it looks like DM going into hospital Sad

doistayordoigo · 15/11/2015 15:21

Food is difficult as she's meant to limit various things due to health problems, and lavender I fear would remind her of her own mother! Thanks for the suggestions though. Would quite like to get her an "experience" but she lives in a difficult place for that kind of thing...everywhere is 30-40 miles away on windy country roads.

doistayordoigo · 15/11/2015 15:23

Could someone explain how the nutella thing works please, as I think I might want one but seem to have missed the original info Grin

Avebury · 15/11/2015 15:27

For the elderly mother in law what about having a festive bouquet delivered?

doistayordoigo · 15/11/2015 15:33

We had a bouquet delivered for her 80th Avebury (eventually, although bloody Yodel messed it up and left it in a van over the weekend and thought it would be okay to deliver on the Monday, three days late and almost dead) Also, not sure where she'll be spending Christmas yet. Good idea for others though Smile

squirrel76 · 15/11/2015 15:34

To get a personalised Nutella label for free you go to www.nutella.com enter your code, the name you want and address and they post you your label!

PjDay · 15/11/2015 15:36

My grandmother is 78 and chocolate/too much alcohol/treat foods etc upset her tummy. I have got her a relaxing hamper, it includes a Christmas plant (will get the day before I deliver it), a candle, molton brown bath stuff and body lotion, a new book, and a voucher to have a shellac manicure.

OrangeSquashTallGlass · 15/11/2015 15:40

Ooo me please squirrel, unlessdoistayordoigo wants it.

NorbertDentressangle · 15/11/2015 15:55

A word of advice on the Nutella labels - don't buy the jars without the code on by mistake looking at you DP because even if you send Nutella a nice email, with photos of the jars attached, explaining that you have bought them, just not the ones with codes on, so please can they email you a code anyway, they won't.

And when I think of the amount I've spent on their product over the years!

bunchedpanties · 15/11/2015 15:59

For a fun take on the Nutella jar labels! metro.co.uk/2015/09/22/nutella-let-people-write-their-own-labels-and-it-totally-backfired-5402972/

doistayordoigo · 15/11/2015 16:04

So do you then just go and buy a jar of nutella to put the label onto?

bunchedpanties · 15/11/2015 16:12

Yes do that's exactly it, just a free label but still fun (and free).

EnglishRose1320 · 15/11/2015 16:12

Have had to take a break from Christmas shopping so haven't been keeping up with the threads, trying to catch up now.

IsteppedonLego- eBay have loads of sellers selling individual iron man socks, some are slipper socks depending on what you are looking for.

m.ebay.co.uk/itm/MARVEL-COMICS-OFFICIAL-HERO-BOYS-SOCKS-UK-9-6-5-SPIDERMAN-IRON-MAN-ANKLE-SOCKS-/251421627066?nav=SEARCH

Plus loads more if you just search for iron man socks

chandelierswinger · 15/11/2015 16:16

Argos have the Elite Jolt Nerf Gun (the small one) on offer at £3.39 here

doistayordoigo · 15/11/2015 16:17

Squirrel if you don't mind I'd love the code, thank you Flowers

RJnomaaaaaargh · 15/11/2015 16:22

You can order personalised Nutella online from selfridges this year. £5 a jar. I reckon it's cheaper than buying a jar to get the code then a jar to put the label on as I don't buy Nutella usually, but I will get one each for the girls for their Christmas breakfast hamper (also mug, bowl, mini sugary cereal, hot choc/ chai latte sachet, little bottle of expensive oj and a mug cake mix in there, they won't eat it all at once don't worry!)

Photo is a non bargainous sainsburys elf balaclava. I forgot to get the price but that's dd2 modelling it, thought you lot would enjoy it Grin

My second boden code since Sept arrived this week in an envelope.
I only ever buy from them with the £10 vouchers.

Whats the 20% and free del and return code for boden?

squirrel76 · 15/11/2015 17:11

Sorry do and orange the nutella code has now gone

doistayordoigo · 15/11/2015 17:17

Never mind squirrel, thanks anyway

CRtester · 15/11/2015 17:19

Thanks for the tip about the boden code. I found the catalogue they sent and I had one too. Never bought anything from them before, but might have a look for something for the dc.

RJ I can see that ordering nutella jars from Selfridges is easy, but def not cheaper. You only need to buy one jar (or however many you need), as the code is on the lid. I just used the code to order the label, but I'm keeping the jar I bought to stick the label to.

ZeldaTheWindBreaker · 15/11/2015 17:28

Hi,

I was in Home Bargains today and they had Crayola 3D digitools pack down to just 99p (RRP £24), so I snapped one up. It's a little set that goes with the Ipad and a free crayola app to make '3d' designs.

Not showing up online so may be instore only, but here's a link just so you can see the product (not the Home Baragins link) itunes.apple.com/us/app/crayola-digitools-3-d/id562292766?mt=8
