We are going to Lapland UK in a couple of weeks and I'm so excited! Where has everyone else booked? Would be happy to hear reviews after you've been too Smile we've previously done harrods and chessington garden centre.

Never been before Spotty. Looking forward to hearing about your experience there - and any tips!
Friend of mine who went last year said wellies are a must if it's been raining as car park is muddy and to take waterproof trousers or spare ones for ice skating!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/11/2015 08:12

Our tickets arrived a few weeks ago but we go next weekend. They say if you haven't had them three weeks before to email them.

Definitely wearing wellies then. I won't ice skate but I expect dd will want a go so good tip about skate trousers thanks!

Binglet I've heard really good things about the reindeer lodge.

DD is just 3 so we're embracing Santa for the first time and we're going to go to the Winter Wonderland thing at the snowdome. She's desperate to play in the snow. Frozen has a lot to answer for. She also thinks she's going to be able to ice skate. Grin

We are meant to be seeing Santa at Disneyland Hmm Wondering what to do as bit scared.

AuditAngel · 17/11/2015 00:39

I have just had to cancel a visit yo see FC at Legoland. I had booked based on a provisional schedule for DD taking part in Panto, but then when we got the final schedule, we had a clash.

Now looking for somewhere else to go.

xalyssx · 17/11/2015 00:52

We are going to the reindeer centre in Bethersden near Ashford with all the family, then nearer Christmas we are going to Dreamland. We are tying Dreamland in with going to see Star Wars.

BikeRunSki · 17/11/2015 01:10

National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield. You go underground a bit. Very clever and imaginative use of old mining railways etc. Also cheap I may have lived in Yorkshire too long.

HortonWho · 17/11/2015 01:20

ineedamoreadultieradult - would you mind sharing which company you use to book the trips? Do you go in Dec or earlier?

jn367502 · 17/11/2015 08:43

I'm also going blithberry reindeer farm. I cannot wait eek.

MrsPear · 17/11/2015 11:36

We are off on a steam train in Eridge - south England - and can't wait till the days as my boys know nothing! I don't know if it will be trains or Father Christmas that will be the best - I suspect trains!

booksrock · 17/11/2015 11:46

childrens work Christmas do

last of the big spenders here!

(can I add, its my work providing a Childrens Christmas party run by the social club. I am not yet sending my under tens to work!)

Looking forward to lapland updates.
Each year am so torn about going.

We have done Longleat and LOVED IT, loved all the lanterns, the trees, the inside and the train, I thought that was very special...

I thought FC was good too.I expect them to try and charge extra for stuff, we took our own photo inside, and ignored them trying to charge.I really liked how they did it. It was dark when we went.

This year am trying Legoland heard lots of good stuff about it.

Stickerrocks · 17/11/2015 12:11

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway does brilliant Santa Specials with a winter wonderland, mince pies & mulled wine for the grown ups and really good quality presents for the kids. If you're coming from the mainland, you can link the ferries and the trains. Lovely day out.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 17/11/2015 14:12

HortonWho we go with Transun and this year we are going 18th Dec we booked early and got one child free. There are bad reviews for them but I think it's from people expecting some sort of Disney like experience. It is in the middle of nowhere there is a hut for the shop another for the dining room and a yurt type thing for hot berry juice and biscuits. Other than that there is just snow for miles around there is part set out for Husky rides another bit for reindeer a bit for Snowmobiles and a load of sledges that you just help yourself to and find a hill. Apart from getting a time to see Santa you are left to yourself which we love but others may not. There are other companies which take you to more built up areas with hotels, shops and Santa Park but that kind of thing is not for us.

VinoTime · 17/11/2015 16:05

Hamleys in Glasgow Xmas Grin We loved it last year and cannot wait! We'll also pop down to the local world heritage site at some point, which is absolutely beautiful. They do a grotto, Christmas arts and crafts and a panto each year. 'Tis lovely.

I would love to do Lapland UK but absolutely balk at the cost of it. Some weekend day tickets are £94 with booking fees thrown in - each! Xmas ShockXmas ShockXmas Shock

Crusoe · 17/11/2015 16:09

Lapland UK here, our 4th time (yawn) as DS hates change but it is fab (and pricey).

SpottyTeacakes · 17/11/2015 16:22

Vino that's why we're going this year. Cheapest we could do £260 for two adults and two children Shock

SpottyTeacakes · 17/11/2015 16:24

HedgehogsDontBite · 17/11/2015 16:26

I live in Sweden. I think Santa lives next door. If we don't see him over the garden fence we'll catch up with him at the Christmas market in the town centre.

JoanGalt · 17/11/2015 16:29

We are going to Hever Castle this year and I can't wait.

Their theme is Christmas around the world so you can see how other people celebrate. They light up and decorate the grounds and there will be a nativity scene with real donkeys Grin

Whatabout · 17/11/2015 16:36

Woburn forest center parcs. We are here already and seeing him on Thursday. Not sure how it will be. We live in MK and I'm not sure where else to go round here. Although the local garden centre gets excellent reviews and books up in September?!

GeekyQueen · 17/11/2015 17:59

The whole family is doing the Santa Special on the Watercress Line. DS is only 2.4 and DN 18 months so we're totally doing it for the grown ups Wink

Littlemousewithcloggson · 17/11/2015 18:11

Lapland UK was expensive but don't know how much longer I will have believers so wanted to do it when it was still magical. Much cheaper to go November/early December which is why we are also going then too !
If anyone's DC has special needs and receive any DLA then there are special days there which are apparently just the same but with smaller groups and longer time. Tickets are £45 each and one carer goes free with each special needs child.
