Due out on Friday apparently. I'd imagine during Corrie.

I hope JL don't go for an animation again, I think it was the year before last they had the one with the bear? It was Not the Same. My favourite was the little boy who couldn't wait for Christmas to come.

SymphonyofShadows · 01/11/2015 18:04

I'm always surprised by how much they cost. Wasn't the snowman one about 6 million quid?

thunderbird69 · 01/11/2015 18:09

Last year's was creepy - mail order brides for penguins

Guesses on this year's song/singer?

I'll go for James Bay singing Homeward Bound

HolgerDanske · 01/11/2015 18:13

The little boy counting down to Christmas was a masterpiece of advertising and was just so good in comparison to Littlewoods' horrendous all-out ode to consumerism that year. What a stroke of luck for JL, the juxtaposition made theirs so much more right.

MirandaWest · 01/11/2015 18:17

I will inevitably cry and my children will tease me Grin

thunderbird69 · 01/11/2015 18:22

Holgerdanske I agree, that one was lovely. The first time I saw it I did get a lump in my throat at the end, I just didn't see it coming. Gone downhill since then though

Yes usual but JL is a better class of consumerism Grin

HolgerDanske · 01/11/2015 20:28

Uhm yes. That's why it was a masterpiece of advertising...

BeachysFlipFlops · 01/11/2015 20:39

When I worked for them, they weren't allowed to advertise at all, anywhere across the Partnership.... I did leave in 1986 Smile

JL Oxford Street shut at 1pm on Saturdays too!

HolgerDanske · 01/11/2015 20:39

Heh yes Calm.

Maybe I should have said it was a masterpiece of tasteful advertising Wink

SymphonyofShadows · 01/11/2015 21:59

Their message is completely lost on me. I have usually finished my shopping by the time the ad comes out. They lost any hope they had of getting me through the door when they used a fecking Morrissey song too.

NeverNic · 02/11/2015 11:07

Another vote here for hating the animation one. My favourite was the Snowman one closely followed by the little boy. I still have stuff on sky plus from the Snowman year and it still gets me watching it all these years on. The bear one did zip for me

merrygoround51 · 02/11/2015 11:59

Usually I think they are awful tripe but I did like last years and thought it was sweet

0pheliaBalls · 02/11/2015 14:30

This year the music will be Half The World Away by Oasis. There's a ten second teaser ad already on YouTube, and a Twitter hashtag, #OnTheMoon.

Shutthatdoor · 02/11/2015 14:34

That taster is bizarre Shock

Funinthesun15 · 02/11/2015 14:36

It is being shown at 8am on Friday Grin

gruffaloshmuffalo · 02/11/2015 14:36

I couldn't find the taster

BeachysFlipFlops · 02/11/2015 14:38

If you are Half the World Away or On The Moon, I bet they won't deliver....

Nottodaythankyouorever · 02/11/2015 14:43

I couldn't find the taster

You haven't missed much. It is basically a pic of a moon.

Sorry I can't link as on my phone.

It is now, Downstairs, but in the 80's it shut at 1pm, wouldn't take credit cards apart from its own and didn't advertise anywhere... Also lingerie was not allowed to be displayed in the Oxford Street Windows - only the side and back windows Smile

wickedlazy · 02/11/2015 15:49

Only christmas ad I have ever cried at is the sainsbury's one based on ww1, when both sides sang silent night, laid down arms and played football together. Maybe because it's based on true events it hit me more in the feels?
