Or just the children?

Just curious about how other people do things.

My parents still like to make a stocking for us, and seeing how it's always full of useful things like shampoo and nail polish remover and moisturiser, I'm not complaining!

But otherwise no, Father Christmas brings one larger present for DD, and the stocking is from me and DP.

No. But as a single parent I buy something nice for myself and wrap it up to open.
I also do the MN chain one so I have something else to open!

Yes, DH and I do stockings and presents for each other. We also get a stocking each from PIL. I'm fascinated by all the people mentioning fruit and nuts, I've never seen that done here (in Aus), just lots of chocolate!

Yep, DH and I do stockings for each other. This year SIL is staying over so she will get one too.

Just a point to note - I got caught out last year by my young DCs as I put something in DHs stocking that the DCs had seen me buy (and therefore not Santa). I had to come up with some quick explanation, although I can't quite remember what it was!

No my mum stopped a few years ago and I think I got dh to make me one one year but he he just bought a load of rubbish from pound land (including a train spotting dvd) so I decided not to bother any more!

Only children hang up stockings in our house. They are filled with small toys and craft stuff, books, maybe new socks or gloves, bath stuff, a satsuma and a handful of chocolate coins. Basically a mix of useful and fun gifts.

But as well as Father Christmas on 24th, we also have St Nikolaus visit on 6th December, and he does fill everyone's boots, regardless of age. Unlike FC, who brings presents, he will just leave food - chocolate (but never chocolate coins, that is FC's prerogative!), nuts, sweets, biscuits and apples, maybe sachets of Gluwein or a little miniature for the adults, and sometimes a shiny coin for the DC, but never toys or other gifts.

No, never realised people did them for adults. Did them for the children when tiny but stopped as it seemed to be silly items that ended up in the trash.

DP and I do stockings for each other. My parents still do stockings for everyone - me, my brother and sister (21, 16 and 14) my DP, our DD, their two dogs and even my hamster got a stocking last year! Grin

Yes definitely - I enjoy the stockings (giving and receiving) more than the big presents

No. My mum used to do them for me for years and I never forgot the first year I stayed with them with my DH - mum crept in early mornings with stockings for each of us and my DH was horrified Grin not that we were doing anything at the time.

I still do a stocking for my teenage DS but I will stop at 18.

Yes, everyone in the house on Christmas night gets a stocking. My mum does the same. When MIL stayed she cried because it was the first stocking she'd ever had Haloween Sad

No, not in our family. I know several people who do them for everyone in the family though, so I guess it's not unusual for adults to have them.

The DC had them until they they hit their 20s, which is roughly when my parents stopped doing them for me.

I think we often follow customs from our childhood and as DH didn't have stockings at all, we went with how my family did them.

I used to really enjoy buying stocking presents we kind of ran out of steam with them as a family once the DC had grown up.

Oh yes! Anyone in our house on Christmas morning gets stockings. Although I'm another who has to do their own, my DH doesn't do a thing unless told what to do, repeatedly (grr) so it's just easier to do my own. Maybe this year I should add a very special treat for myself.

Everyone in our house gets a stocking. No age limit. Stocking is definitely the best bit of the day.

I love stockings and myself and my oh have done them for each other before. This year money is tighter so we have spent less on presents for everyone and the stockings for us are gone. Still done a little one for my ds

Yes a tiny one each for DH and me with a few sweets and a letter. It was his idea the first year we were together as we only met in the autumn so didn't want to go overboard with presents. It is one of my favourite things about Christmas. We were talking about baby DD'S first Christmas this week and will probably do a letter for her together too, although she will have a big stocking with several presents.

Yep always done for each other pre children and still do and they are from father Xmas. No item is over £2 (unless something amazing is seen n is slightly more) and whole stocking is less than£20 (generally is £10-£15) Inc socks, sweets, silly game, dh gets jar pickled eggs!, deodorant,

I check aldi for random reduced bits got tool bits in summer for £1 so kept those for stocking. Aliexpress is good for stocking bits too
