First time we have done the whole nativity thing. Some of the parts desribed in previous years on here have been very novel IIRR!

DD's is a traditional one. All PP1 girls are to be angels. Non speaking part for all, just singing. Costume provided by school.

Oi I'm defending you on the other thread.

(Nativity plays and teachers)

BudaBauble · 05/12/2006 21:47

DS is one of the 3 kings in a joint Reception/Year 1 play - he is Yr 1 so feeling very superior.

"Mummy I am the king who kills the person who tries to kill baby Jesus" - which is a slightly different version of the nativity for me - he reckons he needs his light sabre!!!

Tomorrow at 2.30 (1.30 UK time!) I will be blubbing!!!

Off to sort video camera!|

LieselVonGiftwrapp · 05/12/2006 21:50

Thanks moreegg, maybe we should start a new forum. Let me think of name for it.

BettySpaghetti · 05/12/2006 21:54

DD is a speaking mouse -costumes supplied by school thankfully

MrsMillsletoe · 05/12/2006 21:55

Ds1 is having a Lucia festival, he can either go as a gingerbread man or santa. Only the girls get to wear the white robes, DS was most upset because he wanted to balance fire on his head.

As if.

dmo · 05/12/2006 22:11

ds(9)was a singing tree
but he decided he wanted to be the teacher
and his teacher thinks (in her words) that he is sooooooo cute
so now ds is the teacher

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 05/12/2006 22:15

DS2 is Joseph. For the 1st time one of my DC has a staring role!

lou33 · 05/12/2006 22:17

dd2 was an angel for her play, which was a production of baboushka, done by audition only, so ds1 wasn't in it as he is too shy

it was all v modern, lots of dancing involved and a conga line

i think the biggest applause of the evening went to the girl who played a door , though

franca70 · 05/12/2006 22:46

ds is 4, it's his last nativity play at nursery before starting school, he is going to be the donkey, and I haven't started on his costume yet

Blu · 05/12/2006 22:51

DS is a donkey - no, THE donkey. He has been building his part by explaining the donkey's crucial role in the chase scene in which the donkey whisks baby jesus to safety from the grasp of Herod, by galloping all the way back to Nazareth.

I doubt this scene will feature in the Yr 1& 2 nativity, we'll have to wait for the Director's Cut.

The shepherds are merely bowing to Baby Jesus rather than bringing a lamb, as the sheep, the whole flock, have been sacked for talking and wriggling.

singersgirl · 05/12/2006 22:52

DS2 is a narrator and, together with another child, gets to say "Santa walked on". I think we're word perfect now. Just working on his expression.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 05/12/2006 23:06

Mine is a tubby snowman at nursery
(there are 5 of them and they do some song about melting I believe)

all4girlz · 05/12/2006 23:11

my dd is a star costume provided by the school she looked fab there are a bunch of stars angels
shepherds camels wise men etc saw the dress rehersal it was really good

Tex111 · 05/12/2006 23:29

DS is a "traveller" this year at his nursery nativity play. They were trying on costumes when I picked him up today and his is a top and trouser ensemble that I'm guessing one of the teachers picked up on a trip to Africa. The teachers seem to go on interesting holidays and volunteer abroad so some of the costumes are quite exotic.

We only found out Monday that the play is this Friday and DH is away on business all week. He's gutted to miss it but I'm sure I'll blub enough for both of us.

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 07/12/2006 21:59

Dd2 now tells me she is a star and dd1 said reception/nursery are doing the Nativiy and yr1/2 a Xmas play.

worcestercaroline · 07/12/2006 22:07

dd playing baby jesus if my old reception class have anything to do with it!! we r off to watch dress rehearsal next week and children have already suggested she is the right size to fit in the manger

ChristmasisComing · 07/12/2006 22:32

My dd is a shepherd and has 2 lines (great for her as she is usually shy), ds is 'in the stable' but i haven't yet managed to work out which animal he is

Oh well, will find out tomorrow - I am sooooo excited as it is the first year with both of them in the same play... (I need a weeping emoticon lol)

maryhadaharpsichordyeahlord · 07/12/2006 22:36

an angel
though they performed the play for the Big Children today, so when she came home she announced that she had been an angel and now she wanted to be a King, please
could be interesting

UnquietDad · 12/12/2006 09:41

dd informed me today on the way in that the Nativity was "nerve-wracking." Not an expression one expects one's six-year-old to use...

Still, for all my anti-religious convictions, I'm glad they are doing a (sort of) proper Nativity and not some namby-pamby, lily-livered, Guardian-reading, vegetarian, PC, multi-cultural, non-offensive, non-denominational, "modern", environmentally-aware, right-on production written by some bloke called Kevin with an earring. If you know what I mean.

princessJINGLEmelS · 12/12/2006 09:46

Ds was an sheep. All the nursery were sheep or stars and the reception children had the rest of the parts. The stars did a little dance and the sheep crawled around behind the shepards as they followed the star. It was very cute!!

Chandra · 12/12/2006 09:49

DS will be an extra: a sheep

Someway, I'm sure he is delighted with his role which allows him to hide withouth being noticed and, it is a good improvement on mine, I always was a plant/weed right beside the curtain (if not slightly behind it!)
