I've never used Ali Express before are there any things I need to watch out for before I start looking?

storybrooke · 13/10/2015 21:26

Wow what slap in the face is the asda toy sale?? A small peppa play set £20 reduced from £40? Unless its life size and comes with an actual pig in a dress I wouldn't dream of paying £40 for a spinning bit of plastic the size of my hand... grossly inflated rrp.

And £15 for 12 tubs of playdoh when it's 4 for £3.50 in store?

Not sure why I feel so insulted Hmm

ItStillLooksLikeRainDear · 13/10/2015 21:29

Flash sale on at toys r us online only. Playmobil shopping mall £69.99
here

wigglesrock · 13/10/2015 21:32

reastie it was all about the wrapping - paper, ribbon, sticky tape, gift tags, little brown paper bags with snowmen printed on them ( of course I bought them to avoid wrapping but still bought wrapping paper Blush) napkins, paper plates, cups - for all that imaginary entertaining I do. Yet more glass jars to put all of the candles I didn't need that I also bought, oh and 2 hot dogs and a double bed Grin. That was my IKEA haul but they have the coolest husky/wolf soft toy that dd2 would love - she has a collection so I'll be back soon for that and another 50 tea lights!

shash1982 · 13/10/2015 21:36

1120 a friend bought the foam minecraft swords from ali express & said the quality was good.

Debenhams have their blue cross sale on & got dh an electric toothbrush reduced from £60 to £25.
Had stocking fillers in 3 for 2.

shash1982 · 13/10/2015 21:41

Forgot to ask, when was it a mn thing to get the ikea goat?

Still got mine, completely forgot about it until this thread
So this year will be another year for the goat in the window!Grin

Wonder if the people walking past last year pointing at it where mnetters...

ipswichwitch · 13/10/2015 22:06

Thanks for adding that coleslaw, I did forget to mention that in my post, and that I plan to cancel the subscription ASAP. They don't make it very clear when you register but it is in the t&c's that they take £35 a month unless you skip or cancel.

2legit2knit · 13/10/2015 22:09

Flaviar do lots of different spirits, this link will give you £10 credit and me £15 credit.

Seeing ribbon on a post has reminded me - ribbon's much cheaper on ebay than getting it at the shops.

You can get a 500m spool of curling ribbon for £1.99 + 60p postage (or max £1 postage if you get more than one spool) in a wide variety of colours.

(as a comparison, if you were to get a pack of 10m of curling ribbon and a single ready made bow or a pack of 3 rolls of 10m from WH Smith, it would cost you about £1.50 - so for less than a pound extra you get an extra 470 metres or the equivalent of about 150 extra packs).

If you like the wider florists ribbon (2 inches wide), you can get it from about £3.50-£5 for a 100 yard reel.

In both cases there are loads of colour choices and people offering the ribbon at similar cost - just search more on ebay if you're looking for a specific colour.

The rolls of both seem to go on forever - my mum used to buy the big reels of florists ribbon when I was little and always had several colours by her ready to put twizzly ribbons on presents. I swear, some of those rolls are still the same ones that I was cutting lengths off some 35 years ago, although the red and green have probably been replace once or twice in that time. I have had the reels of the thinner curling ribbon for at least 5 years, use them liberally and they all still look pretty full, so can highly recommend either.

Littlemousewithcloggson · 13/10/2015 22:44

I shall be getting my goat out too!
I need your expert help fellow mumsnetters.
DHs ex wife has demanded asked that we get DSD a pandora charm from her 2 half siblings to go with the Pandora bracelet that she has bought her for Christmas along with a ps4, iPhone 6, trip to Paris, cath kidston bags and hollister clothes
I am looking for 2 nice genuine charms but don't want to spend more than £40 on the pair as we have already got her some stuff and never spend more than £100 on her as it's not appreciated and she compares anything we give her badly to the 1k her mother spends each on her and her siblings
Has anyone seen any bargains or codes?

Kat3L · 13/10/2015 22:48

Thanks Pob, I've just ordered six of those little Christmas tree lights, they'll make great stocking fillers.

Little mouse In an email I had from achica today there was a bit at the bottom saying Pandora coming soon. I don't know what sort of prices they will be but maybe worth signing up to them as they seem to be doing quite a few discount codes at the mo.
