AlgernonGetYerTubaOut · 01/12/2006 13:56

I don't have cushions on the sofas in the living room.

Although I do have bronze silk cushions on the sofa in the kitchen

MrsMillsletoe · 01/12/2006 13:57

Oh yes, DH thinks I'm bonkers.

This year I've got even got new kitchen curtains, with a new table runner. At the weekend I will change the colours of the throws on the sofas upstairs from pale blue to chocolate brown and change the cushions on them. Then I change the window lampshades for big red stars (sounds a bit odd when I write it down), and the candles will all change colours to white and red.

Then of course all the welcome lights will be out too. So excited!!!!

Cappuccino · 01/12/2006 13:59

mil keeps wanting to get a 'spare set' of baubles

so she doesn't get bored

Miaou · 01/12/2006 14:08

I don't get co-ordinated trees. Ours have "memories" on them

mousiemousie · 02/12/2006 18:35

Different colour themes in different rooms.
DD's room pink sparkly christmas etc
My mum's house goes like this for 2006:
Dining room silver and navy with lots of white candles
Drawing room dark pinky red victorian christmas theme
Library traditional red and green
20ft tree in stairwell with mish mash historic decorations
Small welcome tree in porch
It takes her days to decorate

red n silver cushions is a pretty poor show, crank up a bit old girl

Clary · 03/12/2006 23:25

I was looking idly at M&S mag earlier and wondering "who does this silver and blue theme of decor for Christmas??"

Aparently some of you then.

We are going for the "front room is stripped for redecorating but not till New Year now" accessorised with "Christmas tree a mass of mad child-made decorations"! very stylish.

EniDeepMidwinter · 04/12/2006 09:28

[awed]

kittylettekissingsanta · 04/12/2006 10:51

all my deccies are silver and blue,

my tree is silver & blue, and has blue lights, matches my chocolate brown & blue livingroom perfectly

tho must admit, the thrown together mishmash of coloured baubels and multicolured flashing lights do look more festive, but i cant bring myself to be unco-ordinated, lol

HoHoHorsewoman · 04/12/2006 11:06

DH has appalling taste in Christmas deccies. We joked once that we had 'American Country Christmas' in the dining room (folksy/nordic decorations), 'Elegant Christmas' in the sitting room (white, cream and silver) and 'Royle Family Christmas' in the hallway (gaudy foil in many colours, a la Woolworths circa 1976. Apparently MIL gave him a box of coloured baubles and some foil garlands (Has she never SEEN my own-bought decorations?) and whilst I couldn't stop him from putting them up, I insisted that they be placed in the hallway (nobody came in through the front door anyway!) This year, we are going for the 'Halfway through the house renovations' look. i.e lovely decorations and tree in a shit setting.BTW, crappy decorations somehow got 'lost' during one of our many house moves over the past year....

WonderCod · 04/12/2006 11:06

i have new cushions on
loevl y candels around
all festive

swedishmum · 04/12/2006 11:12

I swap over the cushions but prefer cream, gold and chocolate. Really hate tinsel and coloured lights, never feel happy with displaying cards (could always email friends/relatives with my chosen colour scheme and ask them to co-ordinate...). Unfortunately the children all conspire against me and think I am uptight and boring so I guess we'll have to compromise again!

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 04/12/2006 11:14

I have two very small poinsettias on my mantelpiece does that count?

UnquietDad · 04/12/2006 11:19

What, you mean none of you are doing

THIS??

WonderCod · 04/12/2006 11:19

our lightsa re up

OP posts:
hugeheadofhair · 04/12/2006 13:03

Wow, special cushion covers for Christmas. Never thougth of that.

I am going to cut the bottom branches of the Christmastree off and decorate the mantelpiece with those.

And I'm going to make some festive flowerarrangements (without flowers, actually)to put on tables and mantelpieces around the house. This is probably a typical dutch thing.
