Am so excited to be taking my son to see The Snowman Ballet! I will also book a Fc trip and looking at a Christmas play for preschoolers at our local theatre too. What have you booked?

Elf the Musical sounds good belle is it on in London?

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 17:58

Oh we also looked at Kew Gardens that looked good. I'm going to save that for another year Smile

AnnPerkins · 28/09/2015 18:42

Ooh! We're not far from Cambridge. Thanks GlowWine.

smellylittleorange · 28/09/2015 19:04

I booked Harry Potter Studio tours months ago for the first week in December...just finished Deathly Hallows #latetotheparty Dd says I can borrow a wand ! Our family of three is also going to Bath for a couple of days the Sunday before Christmas. Last year we did Nutcracker ..truly magical just me and Dd ..may find something like that again. Christmas Eve off for me and we usually go to Cinema so will have to see if anything vaguely festive on

Septembersunrays · 28/09/2015 19:13

Guitargirl · 28/09/2015 20:28

We have booked to go to our usual trip to see FC at Harrods and Elf the Musical, Harry Potter World and DD and I are going to see the Nutcracker at the Coliseum. We are also doing 3 days at Centre Parcs just before Christmas.

In previous years we have done Lapland UK, the real Lapland, been to see the Snowman, the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House, Christmas at Kew and Disney on Ice. I love Christmas me! Xmas Grin

smellylittleorange · 28/09/2015 20:29

Oooh I will have a look bearing in mind Dd is 11!

Septembersunrays · 28/09/2015 20:37

I saw nutcracker at ENO last year quite pricey tickets I actually prefered ROH on £6 each tickets!

wold liked to have seen elf but soooo expensive!

milkmilklemonade12 · 28/09/2015 20:41

Yes Elf the Musical is on in London, but the tickets are expensive.

Hoping to take DS to see The Nutcracker next year, but he's 5 and a bit young this year.

Disney on Ice was fun; I enjoyed it and DH (despite professing he was going to hate it) begrudgingly admitted that it was 'pretty good' Wink

MARGUERITE18 · 28/09/2015 20:56

Winter wonderland in hyde park is really good for teens, dd and her friends really liked it, you can get ride tokens for them to spend as they like and there are some really unusual rides from other european countries, and an amazing ghost train/haunted house as well as huge fun houses- the alpine ski lodge fun house was almost scary! (you go in a falling lift/shrinking room/boat room in a storm driven by a skeleton etc) Then there is the traditional gingerbread and german market type stalls- the circus which you have to pre-book, the ice sculptures and lots of photo opportunities for selfie sticking haha

CrabbyPatties · 28/09/2015 22:31

Lots of people have mentioned the Harry Potter studios, is that better at Xmas?

Dancergirl · 28/09/2015 22:47

Winter wonderland looks fab. I want to book the circus, ice palace thing and big wheel. Apart from costing loads will that be too much to do in one day, as well as all the rides etc...?

smellylittleorange · 29/09/2015 00:31

crabbypatties they bring out all the stuff from the christmas scenes 'Hogwarts in the snow' Septembersunrays my tickets were about 14 last year for Nutcracker at the Coliseum

Pantsalive · 29/09/2015 01:11

Idontknowhowtohelpher We saw that a couple of years ago and everyone - with ages ranging from to 70 - thought it was very funny.

milkmilklemonade12 · 29/09/2015 01:28

dancer we are doing the ice skating, ice palace and big wheel in one evening. I believe it cost about £70 for 4 (they do family tickets), and we are going with friends who have been before and they don't seem in the slightest concerned about getting round in time.

crabby HP studios bring out all the Christmas stuff like smelly said, if you check the website I think they have photos up of it. It looks super Christmassy. Very nice!

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 29/09/2015 10:38

Pantsalive - thanks, that's good to hear! dd2 didn't want to go to a panto this year but I thought this sounded vaguely seasonal...

franksidebottom · 29/09/2015 11:12

Staying overnight at wembley premier inn a few days before Christmas with dd1 (14) so we will do the London lights, harrods ect, we live in zone 6 but a hotel stay will make it a bit more special. Then dp taking a day off when dd2 has a school training day so we will go ice skating (or in my case just hanging on for dear lifeGrin) and lunch. Would also like to take dd2 and 3 to see santa but dd2 is really not keen so might just take Dd3 (will be 7 months at crimbo) not sure what else really. I've suggested disney on ice and a panto but dd1 and 2 not keen, shall have to get my thinking cap on. Taking dd1 and my niece to madame tussards as well. I love christmas but get struck down by indecision and don't book anything!

Septembersunrays · 29/09/2015 12:11

I am quite excited by disney on ice now, I assume 9 year old will like it and 4 year old?

how much should I expect to pay for it?

Septembersunrays · 29/09/2015 12:11

disney would be for next year.

milkmilklemonade12 · 29/09/2015 14:54

I paid about £100 for 4 seats, and booked in April for really good seats this year.

VinoTime · 29/09/2015 17:05

I've applied for tickets to watch the Glasgow Christmas light switch on in November this year - crossing fingers!

We kick everything off each year with our town Christmas market at the end of November. There are lots of stalls selling all sorts of local produce and crafts. We buy a new handmade decoration every year for the tree, we eats loads of food, DD goes on rides whilst I weep at the cost and we wait for Santa to come out and switch on the town Christmas lights. Then we go home, get the fire going, make hot chocolate and watch our first Christmas movie of the year Grin It's all very Hallmark card worthy and I bloody love it!

First weekend in December we're going to see The Nutcracker at a puppet theater. I'm planning to get us into Glasgow to go ice skating/do the Santa's grotto in George Square the following day.

Second weekend we have a trip to Manchester arranged. Off to see the Cinderella panto at the Manchester Opera House, have a wander around the Christmas markets and stop in at the Blackpool Christmas Circus on the way back.

Third weekend me and DD are off to meet Santa at Hamleys in Glasgow again. We went last year and DD just absolutely loved it. Not sure what to do on the Sunday yet - I have a free space that I'll need to fill.

The lead up to Christmas is the one time of year where every weekend is filled. I just absolutely love it and so look forward to it each year Smile

JustRosieHere · 29/09/2015 18:03

I went to Disney on ice with 6 yo DD. We got the cheap seats which where £16 each. We could still see fine. Would be lovely to be ringside but can't justify the cost.

MTWTFSS · 29/09/2015 18:31

milkmilklemonade12 · 29/09/2015 19:37

Yes it is, we went last year and paid about the same. You have got to be on the ball, but do have a look now and see if there's anything decent left!
