Isitchristmasyet4 · 15/09/2015 11:14

I know its early but....
I really want to do my M&S order..It isn't available online yet so i went on the online chat to ask when it would be available and was told probably early Nov (!!!!) Thats so late for me! (Im crazy I know)
Hopefully its earlier than that...Maybe they were having a bit of fun at my expense for asking such a question haha!!
Anyways, what will you all be reordering this year? what was yummy and what not so much?
I remember the desserts going down well but not so much the buffet platters (sausage rolls etc) :)

It was horrible and I like every form chocolate comes in! It was heavy, not a nice texture, and was very bland. I think it was too dense to work, I was so disappointed in it. I guess there is a chance I got a bad one but I won't buy it again.

SeasideSunshine · 17/09/2015 15:36

I can't say anything except the brioche and camembert wreath looked interesting on that blog. I wonder sometimes where they come up with some of the ideas, as they seem quite "out there" and agree sometimes it seems they just throw things together and hope they stick. Hmm

I've never done a food order for Christmas. I've considered it, but worried I'd be stuck in a huge queue waiting to pick up the food, which would be irritating.

Isitchristmasyet4 · 17/09/2015 15:42

Our queue last year wasn't too bad in Belfast.. I expected worse. No complimentary mince pie though so I deduct points for that Wink

I got their turkey last year and never ever again - it was stringy!

123Jump · 18/09/2015 10:30

Ooo, Isitchristmasyet4,which branch? I'm Belfast too.
Ours gives you a time slot for collecting, so there are usually a 'set' amount of people queuing. I pick an early morning one,so practically no queue.
Shall I ever forget the year I queued for nearly two hours in the snow to pick up my turkey from the butchers,in an effort to be more 'green' minded.
Never again.

InQuiteAPickle · 18/09/2015 10:32

We're going to M&S it this year! I can't wait.

LazySusan11 · 18/09/2015 11:05

Also doing M&S this year, first time doing it so I'm excited to see what's in the book. We have family staying this year so we've decided to make Christmas Eve Christmas Day and Boxing Day easy cooking. Can't wait!!

Littlemousewithcloggson · 18/09/2015 14:45

Love marks Christmas food but if you really don't want to collect order then can recommend waitrose as their Christmas good was lovely last year - and delivered!
(Best stuffing we had though was from Morrisons signature range - on our list again this year!)

BiddyPop · 18/09/2015 15:10

Actually, not all but an awful lot of the M&S food range was available in-store. On both 22nd and 23rd Dec last year, the crowds in main store getting lunches, bits and pieces and full trollies was not as bad as the long queue for pre-order collections. So it might be worth while to just go in and buy off the shelves in the day or 2 beforehand. Go early in the morning (8am, some are even open earlier) and grab them as the shelves are being stacked.

(Our office fridge those few days gets, um, interesting - almost no cheddar sambos or milk for tea, but a mix of cream for Irish Coffee's for the floor and various people's "extras" kept cold for the day!!).

One sec I'll try and find the blog post.

Isitchristmasyet4 · 18/09/2015 15:22

CurlsLDN · 18/09/2015 16:14

Wow this sounds fab! We're hosting Christmas for the first time this year, I'm definitely up for some Brussels mole and prosecco crisps, love a novelty snack!
So how do I get this book you're all talking about? Do they give it out in store? And then how do I place an order?

123Jump · 18/09/2015 16:15

Newtownards Road. Grin
If you are so inclines you can go to M&S at 5am when they unload that nights delivery.
Do not ask me how I know this. Wink

Isitchristmasyet4 · 18/09/2015 17:24

curls Yes they have them at the tills instore or you can order online. I think online is easier imo Grin

I would recommend the roast potato seasoning they line the Que. with when you go for your order, I grabbed one last year and it was amazing.

WhereYouLeftIt · 18/09/2015 18:24

ipswichwitch, thank you thank you thank you Grin for the link to that blog, it all looks amazing!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/09/2015 18:32

Christmas Cake jam !!!!!!!! Heaven.

ipswichwitch · 18/09/2015 19:42

My pleasure Where Grin
I'm definitely going to be having a Christmas cake jam sandwich...

bigsnugglebunny · 18/09/2015 23:03

We were there at 6.30am on Christmas Eve last year picking up our order, it was lovely and quiet and we were home for breakfast time! ??

Prelude · 19/09/2015 00:02

Christmas Cake Jam, cheese and crackers...

MrsBungle · 19/09/2015 00:11

I did it for the first time last year. The £100 deal I think. It was bloody great. Far less time in the kitchen, far more time drinking champers with the family.

MrsBungle · 02/10/2015 23:50

Does anyone know the date the online brochure/ordering will be available yet? I keep meaning to ask in store and keep forgetting!

SpottyTeacakes · 03/10/2015 07:07

It's Thursday!!

MrsBungle · 03/10/2015 16:36

Shock Grin thanks spotty
