i am just wondering, i always do this with my kids, my parents did same with us. we used to be able to choose one of the smaller ones, but i always give my kids a pair of pyjamas to open on christmas eve so they have new ones to wake up in on xmas day.

my mum used to do this with us when I was growing up after bath and pjs could open a small gift. We havent done this with Ds as yet but might do this year.

Me and DH used to do this pre DS. We would start with one and end up opening them all

magicmummy · 24/11/2006 22:48

My parents always let us open one present on xmas eve. We could each pick one present from under the tree (would be a present from a relative or friend - obviously - as santa hadn't been yet !!)
It's something I let my DS1 do too (DS 2 only arrived this year).

lissiew · 24/11/2006 22:50

we always had a pressie from jack frost that was our xmas eve pressie. coz santa had xmas day so jack frost had xmas eve

I like the idea of new Pj's to open on christmas eve.Not sure if it will be possible this year but maybe next.

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 22:56

First of all i would have to buy the PJ's!
And also i don't know if i'm going to get my DS's chtistmas eve.XP1 is trying to stop me having christmas day even though he had all but 2 hours of it last year.
Could do it with my DD's though.

Linnet · 24/11/2006 23:00

yes they always get to choose one present to open, my mum let us open one present on christmas eve as well.

Albert · 24/11/2006 23:01

Here in Brazil they open all the presents on Christmas eve and then Christmas day is total rubbish. Needless to say I have vetoed this and won't allow this to happen. MIL thinks I'm controlling but Christmas day is bad enough here what with the boiling sunshine and cheese and ham sandwiches. DS seems to agree with me fortunately

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 23:01

you poor thing. right peeps donate pj's to tortoise for her kids xx. tell him to sod off and kick him in the nuts xxxx

Lol.I wish i could.Only problem is i'm trying to get residency of them.My solicitor says we can get into court before 22nd dec if no agreement is made and the judge can decide for us.
Im guessing i can get cheap christmassy ones somewhere like Matalan?

hunkermunker · 24/11/2006 23:05

Their KIDS? DH wants to open one on Xmas Eve... I blame the parents myself. Might put a bow in my fanjo this year

hulababy · 24/11/2006 23:06

No, as all DD's presents are not under the tree or anything. They only appear in the middle of the night, when FC has been. Same as when both DH and myself were children.

She doe snormally get a new pair of PJs or ightie for Christmas Eve though.

magicmummy · 24/11/2006 23:06

Tortoise, how old are your DS's & DD's ?

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 23:06

Thanks for the thought.I'm sure i can find some somewhere or leave it until next year.

twickersmum · 24/11/2006 23:25

yes, one or two pressies on christmas eve before bed. not a big one, but fairly decent one. Stops the "next present" "next present" thing on christmas morning if they have a few less.
We always did it! Such fun trying to pick which to open first.

7up · 25/11/2006 09:37

tortoise, hope you get your xmas arrangements sorted out and dont have to go to court. im going on 21st december, bit of a bleak way to start xmas hols.

pointydog · 25/11/2006 10:14

No.

The anticipation is far far better than the act itself.

dmo · 25/11/2006 11:53

got a nice parcel each for my boys for christmas eve
pj's, dressing gown and slippers

in their sockings for christmas morning is an outfit to wear, cereal for breakfast, books, bits and bobs

fullmoonfiend · 25/11/2006 11:54

no - but only cos ds2's birthday is the 23rd and we're already drowning in wrapping paper

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 11:56

yup, i was always allowed my selection box and one other small pressie on xmas eve so my kids are allowed the same (doesn't really apply now as their little though)
