DS1 (4 years old)... still loves his Imaginext Castle

DS2 (2.5 years old)... still loves his Playmobil Zoo

Interested to hear what others are still playing with :)

OP posts:
tryingtocatchthewind · 18/07/2015 21:58

Imaginext batman stuff gets played with daily.

The bloody huge hot wheels nonsense that my uncle bought has been played with maybe 3 times

redcaryellowcar · 19/07/2015 05:53

Great idea for a thread, I'm using it for ideas. Totally agree op that qualify is better than quantity when it comes to Christmas presents! (Not wishing to totally hijack your thread but ideas for a almost two year old and four and a half year old for Christmas would be most appreciated!)

ipswichwitch · 19/07/2015 07:48

Glad to hear the superhero mash ups and imaginext batcave were hits SweepTheHalls, I've got those for DS1 :)
Hits in our house were the wooden kitchen, the Happyland stuff that DS2 (18mo) plays with daily, duplo, and the football classes DM paid for for DS1 for Christmas 2013 - he still goes every week (obviously we are paying now!)

ipswichwitch · 19/07/2015 07:51

Oh and the Thomas Take n Play sets that DBro buys for DS1. Both DC play with them, and they get added to each Christmas/birthday so they've now got a massive train set to play on together.

afreshstartplease · 19/07/2015 07:53

6 and 7 year old boys still loving Disney infinity 2.0

2 yr old dd still playing with happy land

VolumniaDedlock · 19/07/2015 07:53

dd2 (4)- CD player, Anna dress
dd1 (8) - itunes vouchers used and listened to lots, Elsa dress, books and art materials

truthaboutlove · 19/07/2015 07:58

Still a hit - doll's house, Barbie car
Occasional use - karaoke machine, dressing up clothes, sylvanian families
Waste of money - baby annabel, jigsaws

Lovelydiscusfish · 19/07/2015 07:59

Dd is now 3 - dolls' house gets played with probably most days. It's a vintage one which I sort of did up. We spend a lot of time making food etc for them out of fimo, as well as general imaginative play.

She sometimes still plays with her Peppa playhouse from the year before. It's very poor quality, but she does seem to like it.

fuzzpig · 19/07/2015 08:05

Playmobil pyramid! And lego of course

NotCitrus · 19/07/2015 08:19

Dd 3.5 - Sainsburys toy cash register with conveyor belt, beepy scanner, and key for the till and a toy credit card and reader. Ds 6 loves it too especially when they did Money in Y1.

Ds - shedloads of Lego. Some books. Felt tips.

Ignored after a couple days - all dolls and cuddly toys of dd's, especially the ones with clothes and toy beds. Felt craft things that were too limiting. Build-your-own-solar things/sewn things/electronic things that were too hard but some idiot opened the box so can't swap for something better.

supermariossister · 19/07/2015 09:37

hits: skylanders trap team, furby and the minecraft plush and pickaxe for ds. dominoe express usually gets them all playing, the various zoella merchandise and iTunes card for sd.

miss: roller copter absolutely wasn't worth it for ds or ss they never bother with them. sd lava lamp it's gone under her bed not used. holografix hasn't even been used once

grabaspoon · 19/07/2015 09:45

G (20 months) still playing with Scout, fisher price tea set, scuttle bug, dolls pram,

RatOnnaStick · 19/07/2015 09:47

Hotwheels are still in vogue. The trackbuilder stuff is always out in some form or another, the playsets less so, less scope for imagination I think.

The bikes are always being used.

Duplo is a massive hit, especially the training the farm.

Most of the smaller toys from family are ignored except some Thomas stuff.

Complete failures: Dino switch n go, stupid noisy helicopter, stupid noisy fire engine.

chubbytubbybyebye · 19/07/2015 13:37

I had more misses. Furreal cat total miss, Robot played with a bit, playmobil camping set hoping summer hols will make it popular.

Hits. Barbie, skylanders swap force.

This year they are both getting asus tablets and throw away toys which they seems to like most of all.

HerdOfRhino · 19/07/2015 14:58

To be honest ds has played with everything he got for Christmas. He is 17 months old now.

He loves his shape sorters
Toy Phone
Musical instruments
Bead Maze

He will be 22 months, come Christmas.

Is this too young for play doh?

HerdOfRhino · 19/07/2015 15:21

Actually, he has not really played with his push along brick trolley.

EmGee · 19/07/2015 20:25

DDs aged 5 and 3:

Successes:
Bike (the eldest)
Elsa dresses and associated paraphernalia (jewellery, plaits etc)
Elsa nighties
Djeco craft sets (done just recently with me supervising)
Hair bobbles/clips
Disney princess stuff (dvds, beakers)
Djeco wooden patisserie shop (with cute cakes, ice creams etc)
Magnatiles + Playmobil (although NOT on a daily basis)
Books
Kitchen stuff (the 3 year-old)

Less successful:
Hobby horses with sound effects
Wooden tree house (Rosebud)
Styling head
Melissa and Doug wooden dress up dolls

hippoherostandinghere · 19/07/2015 22:12

DS 6 hits were bike, flicker, lego as always. Misses were scaletrix track and remote control car, he just doesn't bother with them.

DD 4 hits were her dolls house, barbies, baby born and a little wooden crib which sits by her bed. Can't think of any misses. Oh she loves her snow glow else too which was a bit flukey to be honest. She only started showing interest just before Christmas and is now a massive disney princess fan.

SweepTheHalls · 19/07/2015 22:17

Switch n go dinos are a big hit here!

TheOnlyPink · 20/07/2015 11:18

For my ds2, it's the orchard games shopping list. We play it at least 3times a week. He was just 3 last Christmas and loved it, but didn't really understand the rules. Now he does and loves it even more. Nothing else he got has been enjoyed so much.

StripeyTee · 20/07/2015 11:24

Nintendo DS & Wii games
Lego
Board games
Books

Stocking fillers didn't last beyond January Hmm.

I can't hardly recall what else I sent a fortune on they got. Obviously not in use now, though Sad.

HerdOfRhino · 21/07/2015 15:51

I hope nobody minds me giving this a bump. I think it's a really useful thread.

Smile
WearingPinkPyjamas · 21/07/2015 22:48

Lego (aged 2 and 4)

Lovelydiscusfish · 21/07/2015 23:23

Thought of another thing dd (3) still loves from 2 years ago - her Happyland zoo. Today she got quite upset about me suggesting going to the playground (the playground!) before she got to play with it.
The rest of the Happyland stuff she's pretty much over by now, but the zoo is a huge favourite.

nikki1978 · 21/07/2015 23:27

Well I can tell you what isn't played with anymore!

MIP
Lego Evolution Robot
PS4 (don't know why dh got this they are happy with their xbox 360)
Nerf Rebelle Gun

I can't wait until they grow out of toys to ge honest. They play with so little but would be disappointed with all practical gifts. Luckily at 8 and 10 we aren't far off!
