To find a Christmas pressie for dd.

But this ain't any ordinary little girl! She's 6 and wants a ball pool or a bouncy castle. We can't afford those and don't have the room either, so we said we'd take her to some over Christmas. Fine she said, only she can't think of anything else she wants for Christmas. She's just not the kind of kid that wants things.

She's not girly, hates Barbie and has no interest in little ponies or doing hair or anything like that! We have failed miserably in the past to get her a decent present that she has liked! Huge failures include a dolls house that ds plays with more, and a crystal making set that she never uses.

So, ideas please!

What about Hama Beads or does she like reading?

we did the ladybirds from the company on JackieNo's link - they were great!
I think Letterbox do a kit as well but they do tend to add a few £££ on the price IME.

just wanted to point out that you can't grow the butterflies until spring, because they need to be released outside after a couple of days.
so maybe some other butterfly themed things could go with the kit as something to do/have now?

How about a flower press and some gardening tools etc ?

Try here:
smart toys

or a telescope - ths is the same one as the science museum have but £10 cheaper:

I think with the butterfly thing, don't you get all the 'hardware' then a voucher to send off for the actual 'livestock', so to speak? So as hovely suggests, it could be part of the present, but you wouldn't be able to actually start hatching any till the springtime.
