What presents did you (in your childhood)or your dc long for, but never got?
Dh resents loudly, when pissed that his younger DB got a selection of action men (he never even wanted an action man)
My dm let on, when she was in her 60s, that she never had a teddy bear.
So what did you want that Santa left on his sleigh?

Personally, I wanted a bike. Specifically a chopper, a red one. (Stop sniggering at the back) I wasn't allowed a bike as the roads were deemed too dangerous, so I didn't learn to ride on until I was 20. I used to sit on the boy across the roads one though...oh bugger, I'll shut up now Blush

Not actually a Santa type present but I always really wanted an advent calendar. Wasn't allowed one for some reason.

The first Xmas we were together DH bought me 2 :o

SparklyReindeerShit · 23/12/2014 23:30

StormBo had a rainbow brite! She was amazing, sorry. I loved her.
Had a mr frosty and he was utter crap. I spent two hours grating ice which basically gave me 1 inch of cool water Hmm
The flavourings were very winky bit I still ate them all BlushGrin
I really wanted operation. My friend had it and I always pestered to go to hers just so I could play it.

TaytoCrisp · 24/12/2014 01:02

Clear casters.

PotteringAlong · 24/12/2014 04:04

A big yellow teapot!

Oh dear, Santa got it wrong.

Year:1978. I desperately wanted a pink satin jacket, the kind all the cool (TV) kids were wearing whilst roller skating. I eyed all the presents under the tree and just knew it was in there somewhere. Alas, to my great disappointment, I received several jumpers. One jumper had the face of Kermit knitted into it, my bid at coolness faded right away.

ohlittlepea · 24/12/2014 04:22

A 'get set' craft kit, they were a craze at my school and I didn't mind which one I got I just wanted one, parents bought me an own brand set, didn't understand why this wasn't the same, and they bought my sister get set grow' ....not that I'm bitter... The worse one was my little brother who thought he'd been brought a football kit when actually it was just the team pyjamas...he was so good and tried to hide his disappointment. I think it teaches you important life lessons not getting. Exactly what you wanted everytime

NCIS · 24/12/2014 04:25

I wanted a tiny tears doll, I knew why I couldn't have it, it was too expensive, but a bit of me still hoped. I also wanted a Sindy doll but again too £££ so I got a Pippa doll instead.

TotallySociallyInept · 24/12/2014 04:43

My db got the ewok village. I got the flower fairy garden.
I also always wanted an attat.
Db and I use to take all our star wars stuff to our friends as they had the millennium falcon and an attat! Oh and the animal that you could shove Luke inside! Think I spent most of my time at other peoples houses as another friend had the big yellow teapot and the tree and Mr frosty, but Mr frosty was used rarely.

Hairylegs47 · 24/12/2014 05:01

I remember going to see Santa with my DB, he forgot to ask for a bike, so I asked Santa for a bike. Come Christmas Day, he'd brought a bike! For me!! Er, no, it was for DB, I got a doll and one of those cute pink plastic prams.

Pretty much anything I asked for was always the cheaper knock off version, which wasn't quite the same.
One year I did get what I asked for, the real deal, not the knock off Katey Copycat. It broke the first time I used it!
I was gutted.
My dm screamed at me called me all sorts, ruined Christmas.
Fast forward a few more years - by now I never asked for anything but satsumas, you can't mess that up - and I was given a bike! A lovely Rayleigh 20, it had a bag, stand, even gears and was a lovely green colour BUT there were no threads on one if the pedal arms, so I couldn't ride it. DM was a little mad at me - yes I deliberately broke it - but the shop sent a brand new replacement just in time for new year, and it had lights too!

kissmelittleass · 24/12/2014 05:02

A big dolls house is what I always longed for but never got..my dad thought it was far better to get educational books every xmas!...always remember the hoping and then the big disappointment..this year I got my dd a huge dolls house with a lift, cannot wait to see her little face..she didn't ask for it before I got it but has since spotted it in smyths and asked for it! delighted! and I get to play with it too..lol..

Hurr1cane · 24/12/2014 06:07

I wanted one of those hot wheels sets that came in a giant truck shaped carry case and when you opened it there was track inside. It looked amazing!

I got dolls and ponies

I did buy one for DS last year though! It didn't just open up into a wonderful track like I imagined, it had loads of bits and was really fiddley. I ended up throwing it away

Tealady1983 · 24/12/2014 06:24

A scalextrix my mum thought my dad wanted it so never got one Hmm
However my ds is 6 and is getting one this year Grin so I can play with it

GahLinDah · 24/12/2014 06:27

A chemistry set. My mum always said a big fat No, that I'd make too much mess.
Then what did they buy my brother (a boy obvs)?! Yep, a fucking chemistry set, I could have had a Nobel Prize by now, they held me back they did.

I did have a Big Yellow Teapot, from my Nan. It was pretty amazing, putting the little people down the spout, the lid roundabout. Wish I'd kept it for my dc.

BikeRunSki · 24/12/2014 06:35

Ice skates. White leather ice skates.

imjustahead · 24/12/2014 07:23

just want to say firstly that i had wonderful Christmases. thankyou mum.

BUT i wanted Slime.

wonderingsoul · 24/12/2014 08:04

Another Mr frosty here to.

Everyyear I asked for one.

SanityClause · 24/12/2014 08:41

DH always tells the story of how his parents bought him a Scalextric set for Christmas. He went out to do the food shopping with his mother on Christmas eve. His father and uncle unwrapped it, and got it out to have a go..... and broke it.

They then put it back in the box and re-wrapped it.

So, he got a broken Scalextric set in Christmas Day, instead of the working one, he really wanted.

trixymalixy · 24/12/2014 09:46

Mr frosty here too. Also skalextric.

DD has asked for the golden coin maker which I know is rubbish, but remembering how much I wanted mr frosty I have given in and bought.

TiggyD · 24/12/2014 09:53

Mr Frosty of course. (But not any more thank you Santa!)

And a Bigtrack.

starsandunicorns · 24/12/2014 10:28

starsandunicorns · 24/12/2014 10:30

Roller boots were the 80's one with lace ups and a stoper at the front

ProfessorBranestawm · 24/12/2014 12:25

Ran a Christmas quiz recently and one of the questions I did was "name this much wanted toy from the description" - everyone guessed correctly that it was mr frosty :o

StockingFullOfCoal · 24/12/2014 12:28

My sister did get a Tiny Tears doll and it was fucking horrible, I hated the bastard thing!

alwaysstaytoolong · 24/12/2014 12:29

Mr Frosty. Bought it for myself as an adult and it was indeed shit.
