Hmm it is very hard to choose books for others so I let my two organise their own books, either as ebooks or hardcopies, whenever they need them.

Where do you buy pushpins from? She is a very lucky girl but she does have understanding of how others live as school do a lot of work with the local food bank etc..
She has a nikon camera so my sister is giving her money towards her own money to buy a lense for her youtube videos.
Tangle teaser not good she has one but having curly loose but tight curls means it doesn't go through.

They all sound lovely :)
Maybe lush stuff? Very good for sensitive skin.
iTunes voucher?
Kindle? They are £49 ATM

Badvocinapeartree · 20/12/2014 14:03

I only have sons so maybe they are all really rubbish idea! :)

YorkshireAtHeart · 20/12/2014 14:03

Thankyou no of course not..just find myself always having to explain to people. She's an only child too if I had others it would be different.ill take a look as she loves decorating her room at school.

Ooooh! Yes to etsy. I have had some really nice things from there inc jewellery.

SpearmintLino · 20/12/2014 14:21

Sponsor a disadvantaged child on her behalf. Plan UK could be good? Personally, I'd feel very uncomfortable giving all these material gifts without offsetting it slightly by doing something like that.

13yr old dd here, not doing 'screens', as she has had an iphone and laptop already this year.
so, Walking dead tshirt,
pugs not drugs jumper
cat headphones
odd socks
large make up set
perfume
freezie mug
pjs
couple of matching underwear sets
coffee syrups
Few dvds
other choclatey/smellies stuff.

I am also buying a Smart TV in the sales as a family gift for us.

YorkshireAtHeart · 20/12/2014 17:04

Ihave
Smart tv's are excellent! We have one in the living room and dd does fitness on it! Dd also has a small one in her room which she loves. Some years she doesn't need screen things other years she does.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/12/2014 17:48

We only have one tv in the living room, and have never even had a Flatscreen before, so this is a big deal for us!
just ordered her a £15 costa card too.
If you want Lush type stuff but at a better price, check out bomb cosmetics on Amazon.

SpearmintLino · 20/12/2014 18:17

?? point completely missed!

RJnomore · 20/12/2014 19:00

Oh an iTunes card is an essential if she's getting a new iPhone.

Oceanpurple · 20/12/2014 19:04

If she's anything like my dd she would love little bits for accessories, earrings and bracelets etc. A nice paperchase notebook, a pretty memo-board, candles, books.

RJ
I get spotify free with my contract but let her have it so she doesn't use iTunes.
ocean
She is like what you describe but is normally bought all of that from relatives.
Spear
Your point hasn't being missed I have done similar things before like paying for a chicken but as it is her first full year at an independent school and she has trips this year I don't have the disposable money to sponsor a child but she is doing a trip abroad to Tanzania with school to build a school and needs to raise money so I will but some money in her stocking to go towards the trip to Tanzania

OP posts:
dementedma · 20/12/2014 19:15

Two 20 something dds here and their gifts include perfume, theatre tickets, PJs, books, camera case, bottles of Baileys/Disaronno,massage vouchers, .....stocking things include toiletries, knickers, socks, nail polish, face packs, candles, notebooks, sweets

SpearmintLino · 20/12/2014 19:18

With all due respect, if you can afford thousands of pounds for your daughter to go to Tanzania, you can easily afford to sponsor a child. At least you'd know then the money was going directly to help someone in need.

YorkshireAtHeart · 20/12/2014 19:31

Actually spear parents don't contribute anything bar spending money which is discouraged. The children solely raise all the money they need to go. They should raise money for flights and food and they stay in a basic hotel. So I'm only giving a little money towards her money for flights as many of her friends parents are. It is a wonderful thing she is Doing and I'm proud.
