Would you like a flower subscription or is it pointless?!

My dad is having a cheese subscription for christmas with a set of cheese knives to open.

I'd like to get my mum something similar - a subscription to something. She's lost a lot of weight lately, although never large she's now pretty tiny - and wouldn't want a food type one. She doesn't really read magazines. The only thing I can think of is flowers. It's quite nice but I can't decide if it's worth it. I was thinking I could get a lovely new vase for her to open.

What do people think? Is it nice or pointless to get flowers in the post on the monthly basis? I always think flowers are nice but a bit of an 'I didn't know what to get you gift.'

Ooh id love bouquet of flowers delivered every month!

Germgirl · 19/11/2014 15:52

I would adore that. It's a lovely idea.

Silver Lantern tea do subscriptions, if she likes tea.

Catsarebastards · 19/11/2014 15:53

I would also love this. I never buy myself flowers as i cant justify the cost of a treat like that but would love to receive this as a gift.

Tyranasaurus · 19/11/2014 15:53

I'd like it

phoolani · 19/11/2014 15:53

Me, too. I'm off to put it on my Christmas list.

honeysucklejasmine · 19/11/2014 15:54

But flowers would be equally lovely!

WowOoo · 19/11/2014 15:55

I would love that!

shakemysilliesout · 19/11/2014 15:57

Dream present.

LizzieMint · 19/11/2014 15:59

I'd love it too, it's the kind of thing I'd really appreciate but could never justify buying for myself. Ideal present material!
Love the sound of the cheese subscription too - where have you got that from? My DH is a bit of a cheese fanatic...

Hurricaneinateacup · 19/11/2014 16:02

There are quite a few places that do cheese subscriptions. Mine is coming from the cheese society.

I'm looking at bloom and wild for flowers, the medium sized bouquet. The reviews for them are excellent. Maybe I will go for it!

I love having fresh flowers on the fireplace so this would really appeal to me (as would the convenience of them being delivered direct to my door)

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 19/11/2014 16:05

Marking place - love subscription type gifts and also want to know about the cheese one!

Looking at the tea one now for DH - teaholic.

I think you have to be careful in choosing the florist. Can you make an arrangement with a florist close to your mum to ensure quality. David Austen although expensive are. Very good if your mum likes roses.

Davros · 19/11/2014 17:56

Would live it too, never heard if it before. Its going on my list.

BirdhouseInYourSoul · 19/11/2014 17:59

I would love this!

I think subscriptions are a lovely idea. Getting something cheerful through the door every month is great.

EduCated · 19/11/2014 18:00

I'd absolutely love it!

Hurricaneinateacup · 19/11/2014 18:33

I'm eyeing up bloom and wild letterbox flowers. They fit through the door which might be good in case my mum is not in! Apparently they contain around 20 stems. The reviews are excellent as are the FB comments on their FB site.

Well I wouldn't like it but that's because whenever I'm given flowers I just seem to be waiting for them to die so that I can clean the vase out and get back to normal. That's why I'm no good with house plants, when I've been given one I just can't seem to keep them alive and am actually relieved when they are dead so I can throw them away and stop worrying.

Hurricaneinateacup · 19/11/2014 18:44

Desperately was it the letterbox one you had? I'm just confused how they don't die in the post!

wouldnt appeal to me but i dont do flowers
if your mum likes getting flowers then go for it would be a lovely gift

SaltySeaBird · 19/11/2014 20:06

Oh I'd love this!

SaltySeaBird · 19/11/2014 20:07

Just to add it would be a great gift for me or my Mum as we both love having flowers in the house. It would be an awful gift for my MIL as she hates having flowers in the house. She puts them all on the windowsill in her downstairs toilet (even when she gets lots, so she ends up with 6 vases all crammed on top of each other)

ColdCottage · 19/11/2014 20:09

I would love this.

I'd recommend speaking directly to your local florist as they can then make up larger seasonal bunches so you get more for your money and they don't have to do set pieces (like mail order do) or give interflora etc a cut Thanks
