My 13yr old is getting a bit old for plastic tat too, unfortunately. This year, I thought I would include some sort of shower wash for the first time, maybe a USB stick, a Guinness book of records or Ripley's book, Chelsea boxers/goalie gloves, slipper socks, perhaps a DVD/film downloaded onto the iPad to occupy until the olds surface. He also still likes novelty things like expandable flannels and obviously, anything edible!

Nine year old dd will get the usual tat - stationery, lush products, stickers, stampers, nail decoration kit .....

Ooh, igloves went down well last year.

marne2 · 12/11/2014 13:54

Dd's are 8 and 10, so far I have got them

Lego mini figures (simpsons)
Hat and gloves from primark
Purse
Hair bands
Chocolate orange
Chocolate coins
Sewing kit ( dd2 )
Stationary
Tooth brush
Body spray ( dd1 )
Hair chalk
Lip balm
Bath bomb
Shower gel ( body shop chocolate flavoured)

SpangleMaker · 12/11/2014 14:19

DS age 5, DD will be just 4:

DVD
Chocolate Santa
Chocolate coins
Cellophane 'cone' bag with assorted sweets (the local soft play sells these but I refuse to buy them)
Funky little torches DH bought from somewhere
Dalek fridge magnets (DS)
sonic screwdriver (DS)
Anna/Elsa/Olaf set (DD)
Some kind of hair accessory or lipgloss (DD)
Stickers
Mr Men book
Bubbles

I will try to make myself stick at that. I probably won't, though... that's the peril of buying early.

AuntySib · 12/11/2014 21:26

Thanks for suggestion for teen boys.
Previously I have bought screen gloves (very well received by gamers), hot chocolate kit, posh shaving cream for DH,books,( The BookPeople have some great deals)mini lynx stuff for PE kits, popcorn holders, screen wipes.
This year have found jersey pillowcases in Muji ( also nice underwear), jacobs ladder game for fidgety 14 year old, bendy straws ( they all like these|!) Owl light in Tiger, might get Playstation magazine. Tiger is quite good generally for odd bits.
Am thinking of Sherlock Cluedo for family board game.
TK Maxx for nice PJ bottoms ( £12.99 for nice brushed cotton ones - they also had jersey ones), Primark for onesies,( also £12.99). Looking for glasses repair kit.
For guitar players, I just discovered a plectrum press - works like a hole punch.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 12/11/2014 22:12

Just spotted this on Amazon...perhaps good for those with 3 children as they can have one each! Yes, it's a bit of tat, but it's a fun cheap stocking filler and my DC will love them!

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 12/11/2014 22:21

For 6yo:
Train
Notepad
Pen
Ruler
Eraser
Sharpener
Pencil case filled with felt pens
Dinosaur in an egg that grows when you water it
3D thing which takes an imprint of whatever you push against it
Balancing game in a small tin
Enormous pencil
Bath bomb
Chocs
Mug
Toothbrush
Story book
(Mental block)

JuniperTisane · 12/11/2014 22:37

DSes 4 and almost 2 will be getting

Slipper socks
Bouncy light up ball
Large Schleich-a-like animal each
Character toothbrush
Inflatable globe
Hotwheels car (DS1)
Helicopter (DS2)
Choc bar
Little book each

I'm doing my best to choose stuff I don't have to help with.

WreckTheHalls · 12/11/2014 22:40

Usual guff stuff:

Novelty toothbrush
Christmas socks
Gloves
Slipper socks
Flannel
Bubble bath or bodywash
Chocolate coins
Candy cane
Other sweets
Joke shop bits and pieces (DS loves them)
Mini soft toy/beanie
Mini notepad and pen
Lego mini figures
Bag of microwave popcorn
Bubbles

Also doing this year:
Mini picture frame with nice family photo
New swimming hat & goggles
Clip-on earrings for DD (who is definitely NOT getting her ears pierced!)
Mini origami set (Tiger has them)
Pack of cards

Love the idea above for blue tac - DS carries a ball of it around with him to fiddle with at all times Grin

enormouse · 13/11/2014 13:47

DSes (3 and 9 months) have standard stocking filler fare - Matey bubble bath, Schleich animals and die cast corgi cars etc.

Dps is a bit more interesting and would probably fit teenage requirements
Iron man cufflinks

Decent moisturiser and face wash
Whisky miniatures (obviously not for teens but you can get mini coke/fanta/sprite cans)
Pack of wine gums
Ground coffee
Base layers for wearing under his biker gear
Thermal silk gloves
Socks

Norfolkandchance1234 · 13/11/2014 16:07

Lego has some great little stocking fillers. Like a snowman and reindeer you can build, they have some Lego in baubles to put on the tree and some very cute little animal things in packets for only 2.99 and a heap more other Christmassy stuff.
