She doesn't ask Santa for anything, just had a birthday and didn't want anything in particular. Has got but doesn't play with Lego, playmobile, shopkins, Barbie etc we have loads of stationary and crafts and board games. Has bike scooter pram etc

Any ideas?

Oh my goodness the Djeco stuff is gorgeous, I want it all so DDs will be getting plenty!

vikjul · 11/11/2014 07:12

If you have two 7yo dds you HAVE to get the card games Sleeping Queens and Love Letter! My 6yo and 9yo love both, good fun for adults too!

Also, does she have a cd player and audio books? My dd loves listening to stories while drawing etc.

vikjul · 11/11/2014 07:16

My dd also gets a lot of fun out of her brother's sound machine, so she's getting one of her own this year.

And a haba marble run!

HolgerDanske · 11/11/2014 07:55

A massive bucket of Hama beads might be a good option? She could look it up on pinterest for loads of inspiration, never mind the joy of making up her own patterns. Hours and hours of fun for a child who likes working with her hands and creating things.

Make sure you go for proper Hama, though.

vikjul · 11/11/2014 08:50

Yes to Hama beads! However I find that they get even more use when the colours are stored separately than when they are all mixed up. You can buy separate bags of different colours of beads and store them in separate compartments in a plastic craft box with dividers.

HolgerDanske · 11/11/2014 08:55

That's true, a whole set of little Tupperware-style boxes to keep them in would be a good idea.

Lucy at Attic24 had the cutest little Hama bead fox on her blog the other day, that her daughter had made from a pattern on pinterest. Pretty enough to hang on the tree Smile

Heels99 · 11/11/2014 10:43

Yes she has lots of Hama but grown out of it now a bit. She also has djeco, she got new sets for her birthday she hasn't done yet. Has boxes full of jewellery again got new necklace for birthday and I have got her bracelet for Xmas for stocking.

Going to have a look at those games sleeping queens and love letters. She does borrow my iPod so MP3 player a possible option. Her sister has CD player that she can use but doesn't bother.

She is a very busy active girl but just not that into toys, this week she made a zoo house out of boxes, a poppy garden out of paper etc etc, always making stuff, at least three new large creations a week but we have tonnes of making stuff I need to trim back in it if anything.

I have got lots of good ideas from this thread so thanks all, those games, the smiggle shop, more djeco, disco light, tickets to something, climbing wall are all in my list to investigate.

It depends on how much you want to spend, but if you think she's musical at all, a piano keyboard would be great. My daughter has one and she's learnt so much on her own. You can get headphones as well so it's not loud all the time (although I love listening to her play Smile)

ImNotReallyHere · 11/11/2014 11:46

Similar DD here too.

How about an iPod shuffle and I tunes voucher?
DD got one for her birthday and LOVES it. Always takes on car journeys and they are reasonably cheap.

This year she wants to adopt a penguin for Xmas (and hasn't even seen the John Lewis advert yet).

She also loves game wright games. We have sleeping queens and rat a tat cat.

No smiggle near us unfortunately as just googled and it looks fab. Also googled Djeco - I don't want to hijack your thread but are there any sets u recommend?

I got dd the princess stamp set last year and she has come back to it all year for making her friends cards, bday cards and just playing. its a stunning set.

This year we got her the glitter boards, I think you peel areas back, then pour glitter on but they all look great and has age on them.

the djeco magic sets are fun too...

Yes smuggle well and truly hit around here (Reading) DD (8) is obsessed with it. Blott is a bit passé now Hmm smuggle pencil cases, heat change pencils, bendy rubbers, etc. They have a stand by the till that you can choose an item for half price when you spend £10 or more. DD has the erasable coloured pencils at the top of her list for Christmas. I have got her the smuggle advent calendar and she's really excited can't wait to see what she will get each morning.

DD has asked for the sew cool set as well. Its a needle less sewing machine. I have a few sewing machines so thought she might like a proper one herself but no has o be the sew cool one.

an ipod touch might be a good present if she likes playing with your iphone. If you look on amazon instead of apple they are a fair bit cheaper and brand new still.

If she likes reading a kindle or a kobo. Or a big box of books? We got dork diary box set for £10 from Costco.

dd's other big obsession is monster high, but im guessing if your dd isn't into Barbie then she won't be bothered by monster high either. I have brought dd a big dolls house from Costco that fits Barbie/monster high size dolls.

LineRunner · 11/11/2014 13:09

Get her an iPod? Instead of all the stuff you don't think she wants.

Then iTunes vouchers for birthdays and future Christmases.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 11/11/2014 13:12

what is love letters can anyone link?

iwantavuvezela · 11/11/2014 18:22

The sew cool is on at toys r us'and John Lewis for £29.99 which is the cheapest I have seen, just ordered one for DD today.
Off to look at smiggle website!

Teabaglady · 11/11/2014 23:12

if she is quite active how about an outdoor toy like skateboard, scooter, trampoline, basketball hoop, pogo stick?
We bought makedo stuff last year which works well with old boxes etc to make things with.
or how about an electronics kit - Brightminds is a good online shop to look at

surpriseitsme · 11/11/2014 23:18

My 7 yr old has never been into dolls or barbie etc but has got a sudden obsession with monster high dolls.
