Presents. NOT parents. That's a ridiculous notion.

Reastie · 01/11/2014 08:14

badvoc well remembered re: HHTYD. That present is now done and dusted but Thanks for remembering.

3pigs we have one specific paper from FC (usually with him on it) and then other paper from us. I do like the idea of different paper for different DC though (I only have one though!).

spotty that's fab, hope the plans aren't too stressful

Haha I didnt even notice your typo

Good to hear it works for people!

I have two rolls of 'from Santa' paper but will definitely need Atleast one more of those

I plan on stereotyping and getting dd some fairy paper, pink of course

DaisyFlowerChain · 01/11/2014 08:16

I do the paper thing for each of us too but not the Santa part. Gifts from others go under the tree as they arrive and we open first so that DS knows how to thank for what.

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 01/11/2014 08:17

This Year I am going to attempt lists of who bought What or reattach gift tags to boxes as last year ds1 was like a tornado and had no idea who bought What

OohOod · 01/11/2014 08:20

Santa uses different wrapping for each child (to save on labelling. Then I use random papers for everyone else plus kids from us.

nodramamama · 01/11/2014 08:22

For any toy story fans this is the cheapest I have seen the buzz and Woody interactive set:

SpottyTeacakes · 01/11/2014 08:22

Thanks everyone three weeks to go!

I usually use cheapo paper for stockings and nice for everything else! I really want to start wrapping but with both dc here it's not really possible!

zipzap · 01/11/2014 08:26

Threepigs I do that with coding the wrapping paper. You just have to be really sure you have enough ofthe paper for each child before starting if they have bigger presents and that you keep the roll of Santa paper really well hidden for the next year or two if they still believe in Santa otherwise they notice and will remember.

Also be prepared for questions such as 'why did Santa get his rapping paper from Sainsburys last year but Asda this year?' I'm sure I'm not the only one who has children that are ridiculously eagle-eyed and sharp-memoried when it comes to the trivia of life such as which wrapping paper Santa uses but at the other end of the scale when it comes to finding or remembering the essentials of everyday life like packed lunch boxes and school jumpers!

You also need to decide what to do about stocking presents - you might need a further three papers (obviously the stocking wrapping department is different from the main present wrapping department which is why a friend and I have been known to exchange the ends of our Santa rolls to use to wrap the stockings stuff.

nodramamama · 01/11/2014 08:27

3pigsinblankets how about a little whiteboard and you then write on thanks nanna or whoever and take a pic with each present as it gets opened? Depends on time I know...

EustaciaVye · 01/11/2014 08:39

Santa uses -cheap- different paper for each child. no labelling.
I use anything else. Next have dome good packs of paper, bows etc in 3 for 2. Quality is quite good. Go for metallic neutral colours with no Christmas print then you can use it all year :)

coffeetofunction · 01/11/2014 08:46

Can anyone explain the Disney on ice ticket code offer thingy...the perfect gift for my DD who just wants a surprise Wink

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 01/11/2014 08:47

Long time lurker here who finally has something to contribute - Tesco have 15% off iTune vouchers until 9th Nov. From the advert, I think it is in store only.

Notso · 01/11/2014 08:53

I code wrapping paper but inevitably never buy enough so I use a different one then end up unwrapping a few things and wrapping them in the new one so it doesn't look too odd Hmm
The stockings all get wrapped in the same paper and put in the stocking as I wrap so there's no confusion, then we do the old double stocking switcheroo on Christmas Eve.

Everyone else's presents get wrapped in supreme poncetastic manner with belles, candy canes and more ribbon than you can shake a stick at because they are all so bargainous and I want them to look ££

dancingwitch · 01/11/2014 08:56

On the subject of wrapping paper, last year was the first year I wrapped stocking presents and it was brilliant as the opening of the stocking took that much longer. Rule in our house is stockings can be opened in our room from 6am but we don't go downstairs until 7.30 as the "big" present from Santa will be in the sitting room & only thinly disguised and grandparents and things like to see the children's reaction so anything which stretches out the stocking opening, playing, eating etc is good!

EsmereldaPB · 01/11/2014 09:00

Thomas take and play stone loader is currently half price at toys r us here
And you can get £5 off with the code BIRTHDAY9 (& I think free delivery). If that code doesn't work try BIRTHDAY10

Wilkos had 12m rolls of wrapping paper for £2 a roll and on 3 for 2 yesterday

Dogmatix34 · 01/11/2014 09:11

Gutted about dolls house. I just logged on to order it. So nearly ordered it
Last night but decided to check with DH first. zipzap your post about your kids noticing wrapping paper made me laugh!

NorbertDentressangle · 01/11/2014 09:27

Not that Christmassy I know but it might be of use for teenagers, students etc - Surfdome have a luggage sale on and have some cabin hand luggage, holdalls etc for under £20.

(I bought a cabin bag on wheels with retractable handle for £13.49 instead of £45)

Jenni2legs · 01/11/2014 09:28
