Kitchen diner so bunting goes up in the diner end

loudarts · 17/10/2014 16:22

We use chains on the ceiling, lights around the wall mounted unit's and tinsel anywhere it can be hung lol.

HoldenMcGroin · 17/10/2014 16:24

Nb I have seasonal bunting, not just summer bunting. Or cupcake bunting. Or owl bunting. Or bunting printed curtains.

Blush

I have high units on one wall which has a space about 18" from top to ceiling. We put a long garland intertwined with tiny coloured lights on the top.
And I have a The Snowman soft toy up there and a The Snowman snowglobe on the windowsill (all year round Blush ) They're not decorations so don't need to go away on 12th Night, they just are.

In the kitchen/dining bit , I hang some decorations on the French door that we don't open.
And a long garland with lights and decorations where the squared 'arch' between the dining room/sitting room is.

I have fairy lights up that I put up for Christmas about 4 years ago and liked them so much, they stayed.

I do have a few decorations that go in the kitchen - a garland with metal snowmen playing instruments on and some wooden hanging decs too.

WipsGlitter · 17/10/2014 17:16

I put a few paper chains up and stick any cards the kids get on the larder door.

PesoPenguin · 17/10/2014 17:59

No I've never even thought to tbh!

wooooosualsuspect · 17/10/2014 18:02

I have a small white xmas tree I stand on the sideboard in the dining bit. I decorate it with candy canes.

lunar1 · 17/10/2014 18:14

I swap my plates etc for my portmerrion Christmas ones and have a basket of poinsettias on the windowsill.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/10/2014 18:17

Yes, we have blue crockery so I have blue and silver decorations, fairy lights above the sink.

wfrances · 17/10/2014 18:19

huge windowsill- so 2 rustic trees on it either end
xmas tea towels on the range cooker
twinkly lights on the shelves
advent house on shelf

Tomuchtosay · 17/10/2014 18:33

Little metal snowmen/FC on cupboard handles, and ds's and me make paper snowflakes we hang them from the ceiling with cotton.

velocity1 · 17/10/2014 18:38

Yes. We have a kitchen/diner,and I tend to go a little mad. Snowflakes on all the windows, mini trees on windowsills and shelves, two white reindeer that go on the window sill above the sink, tinsel on the shelves, plus the advent calender on one of the cupboard doors. I like Christmas Smile

Mrsgrumble · 17/10/2014 22:16

Yes

I put white fairy lights on the windowsill and drape a chrsitmas tea towel over the oven door. I hang a berry heart wresth on the wall above the dining table

This ear I bought new chair covers in a red Nordic style. I have a red berry centrepiece also for the table.

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 18/10/2014 01:33

Fairy lights and Christmas tea towels in my house. Can't wait as I love the fairlights on while I am cooking.

Cirsium · 18/10/2014 02:04

Just silver coloured metal trees, reindeer and stars hung off the cupboard handles. I used to decorate my entire flat matching colours to the room decor, including posters and tinsel in the bathroom, but just do the hall and living room now. Will be in a new house this year though and have plans for a rustic and blue theme instead of the red, gold and green I've had in the main rooms for years.

CiderwithBuda · 18/10/2014 04:41

Yes. I love xmas and xmas decorations. Go a bit overboard!

Kitchen itself has a set of cookie cutter lights under wall cupboard on one side. Santa lights the other side. Nordic decorations on window frames. Xmas tea towels. Xmas candle on one worktop. White metal cake stand thingie on island with red and silver baubles in. I also have six Xmas mugs. Although they are annoyingly small.

Dining area has a sort of curtain of lights on French doors. Red lights around top of dresser with some big stars propped up. Big red star light on small table. Xmas place mats and napkin holder on table.

tanya1312 · 18/10/2014 06:05

Yes ceiling decs or paper chains, signs for wall , ornaments on sideboard, letting kids decorate it this year.

elQuintoConyo · 18/10/2014 07:00

I have a biggish kitchen that I haven't decorated beyond hanging these little felt thingies from cupboard door handles/bottles of wine.

Shamelessly place marking!

Have a very small kitchen so i put snow flake / prancing reindeer window stickers on the windows. Pink fairy lights around the window - although this year I am debating a star garland light for the window that i have seen on Pintrest. Also have xmas tea towels and apron and everyday xmas china/mugs etc. (have a special china set for xmas day and boxing day tho)
In the dinning room I put the same window stickers on the french doors have red seat cushions and red star oilcloth on table and the children have a little tree in the open fireplace that we make decs for.

Umlauf · 18/10/2014 10:41

I have felt Christmas Pudding bunting, but my kitchen is very tiny so it doesn't need much. I made the bunting myself and it was very easy - just brown and white circles, white circles cut into the icing, red beads for the holly berries and green felt cut into holly leaf shapes, all strung on tartan ribbon. Took an evening.

HolgerDanske · 18/10/2014 10:51

Yes I do Smile

But I keep it contained to my window and sill.

This year I am going to have a zinc and foliage theme, so quite rustic.

A zinc chain with little angels on it to hang as a garland at the top of the window.

Zinc candle sticks with purple candles - two in the shape of houses to sit on one side of the sill, and one tea light holder lantern with little star cut outs to sit on the other side. I will add sprigs of holly or some other foliage too.

My front door will match my kitchen window with a little zinc heart holder/basket type thing filled with holly or other foliage and tied with twine.

HolgerDanske · 18/10/2014 10:54

In previous years I have had a tiny Christmas tree with baubles and lights on the sill as well. Might still do that.

I've also hung baubles across the window. I used aubergine and bronze which I think is a lovely combination.

I have had homemade felt ornaments hanging across the window almost like bunting. I did that in traditional red and green.
