Yes

I have a gingerbread theme for the kitchen

I used to hang Christmas themed biscuit cutters and gingerbread ornaments from the handles of the units and had ornaments on the windowsills

This year I want one of those white twig trees (white/cream units) for the corner of the room and I'm going to hang the ornaments off that

Have not told DH yet...last year I wanted a white Narnia style street light for the snow themed conservatory, I could only get it if I promised to get rid of the Christmas tree in that room

He thinks we only have 5 Christmas trees this year.....

I always plan my theme for the next year during the current year's planning.

Next year I will have a traditional danish theme. I will have a red tea light lantern on one side of the sill and a large red house-shaped lantern on the other.

I will also have a greenery garland hanging at the top with danish woven hearts in red and white and gingerbread biscuits iced in white.

That is the top of the dresser last year.

I like the idea of changing the theme slightly every year.

Rufus - we had 5 last year - if you count little one on landing and branches in a large vase in dining room.

cider

It's one of the perks if having three children

Tree in living room, tree in playroom (dining room), and a large tree for each child in their bedroom Blush

I want one in the kitchen and would also love a hallway big enough to put one in there

Got rid of the tree in the conservatory which has a bit of a snow theme but I so want a kitchen one!!!! They had sold out by the time I realised I wanted one last year Sad

I love all the ideas on here!!!! And the lights on your dresser

Need a bigger house!!

CiderwithBuda · 18/10/2014 12:02

Rufus - we bought this house as I could see it was a 3 tree house at minimum! Grin

It takes us days to put it all up. DH thinks I'm mad but secretly likes it.

Catsmamma · 18/10/2014 12:05

i have a small tree in the window with champagne corks on it!

sometimes lights across the window too, cake tins swapped for festive ones and maybe some festive mugs.

Guitargirl · 18/10/2014 12:07

Cider - am I right in thinking you don't live in the UK? If you do, would you mind sharing where you bought your light curtain from? I am looking for one for our kitchen windows which are floor to ceiling.

RufusTheReindeer · 18/10/2014 12:11

cider

Decorate the living room on Saturday

Playroom, hall and bedrooms on Sunday

Then I decorate the conservatory and kitchen on Monday

All the decorations are in separate room named boxes so we can do the same in reverse when Christmas is over

The best thing about decorating is that it cuts down on the housework!!! Can't dust a shelf full of Christmas nic naks! (Well you can but I really don't want to)

CiderwithBuda · 18/10/2014 13:36

Guitargirl - I am now in UK but the light curtains are ikea. About 10 years ago I think!

Rufus - good plan. We are not quite so organised! We are not too bad as I know which box is for which room but some things overlap - for space in boxes mainly.

poolomoomon · 18/10/2014 14:16

Oui. I always get the snowman kitchen roll. Also have the Christmas tablecloth and nutcrackers and Christmas candles in the middle of the table. A Christmas bunting and fairy lights on the wall above the table too. Also have the Emma Bridgewater Christmas storage tins so there's always those around filled with homemade mince pies and biscuits Smile.

When I go into a house (any house , at work when I go on visits or one of DC friends houses or even browsing on Rightmove) one of the first things in my mind is "Oh a Christmas Tree would look lovely there " )

Blush
Guitargirl · 18/10/2014 14:55

Thanks cider - trip to ikea it is, I love their breakfasts so not too much of a hardship!

CiderwithBuda · 18/10/2014 14:55

Guitar girl - just had a look in ikea website and they have a light curtain this year. It's not quite the same as ours but would do the same job. £12.

Guitargirl · 18/10/2014 15:01

Fab, thanks, that's cheaper than the one I found on eBay.

girlywhirly · 18/10/2014 15:08

Our kitchen is miniscule but it is at the front of the house, so I feel I have to do something festive for the benefit of the families across the road and passing schoolchildren. I put a lit snowflake in the window, and hang some other 'furry' iridescent snowflakes from the glass with transparent push on hooks.

That's about it in there, but there's usually a wreath of some sort outside by the door and a little conifer in a pot gets a few light unbreakable decorations put on it.
