I had the perfect gift picked out for DH and was going to order it today but when I checked our joint email account he's already gone and bought it for himself with his wage bonus. Urgh. So now, I'm clueless as what to get him.

What are you getting your partners? Or are you as stumped as I am? Grin

the Bram Stoker book was such a lovely idea multiplemama !

I have a stocking all done for DH with boxers and socks (his are old and horrible) and a couple of clothing bits as he doesn't really buy clothes. For his main present he will be having a trip to London after xmas, so the Imperial War Museum, maybe afternoon tea at F&M and possibly an evening show. I like to do a theme so maybe War Horse...! He doesn't like material things really and as we have a 1 year old the best present is grown up time together!

DH likes getting stuff he can do with DD - so last year he got a magic tricks compendium and a world globe for his office (DD loves learning countries with him)

I've got them both him a telescope so that he we all can look at the moon together this year!

I have got him a few treats as well - a berghaus fleece (in the sale!), a cider hamper, DVD's and some chocolate.

Takver · 06/10/2014 10:38

"DH likes getting stuff he can do with DD"

Def. true of my DH as well, but getting harder as she gets older - any good suggestions for things that a 12 y/o and 44 y/o might like to do together?

(Not magic as DD bought loads with her birthday money)

mckayz · 06/10/2014 10:57

I have got DH a PS Vita, he works away from home so it's so he has something to do during his time off.

Will get a load of little bits and pieces and make him some fudge.

missingwordsround · 06/10/2014 11:15

Takver- I've found groupon type vouchers are great - have bought DH and DD days out as zookeepers and a falconry experience (we all love animals)

When DD gets older I could see her and DH having fun with things like a segway ride.

(Make sure it has a long date on it, though.)

I also have bought a vouchers to take us away to a naice boutique hotel with champagne and dinner - which DH loved.

Takver · 06/10/2014 11:32

Falconry experience is a great idea, there's someone near here that does them too

MultipleMama · 06/10/2014 13:31

um - It was but he had to be all impatient steal my gift! Haha.

DH loves old books, those he can read and those you no longer can due to age and wear. He loves everything weird and wonderful too so I may get him something for one of our curiosity cabinets.

Presents to do with the kids are a great idea, though :)

Have got dp a viking arrowhead and an out of print book from his childhood so far. I need to get him something else but I have no ideas (he has a Dec birthday too).

JerseySpud · 06/10/2014 16:35

I'm getting DH a usb gaming pad that will be cordless so he can play his games on the pc. I usually work with

Something you Want
Something you need
Something to wear
Something to read

Like silver what's the name of the posh beard oil. It sounds like something my son would love. Completely stumped what to get DH.

MrsDavidBowie · 06/10/2014 17:07

No idea. He will tell me or buy it himself and give me the receipt.

Gatekeeper · 06/10/2014 17:09

dh is getting

bottle of single malt
engraved whisky glass
smoked chillies and foodie stuff
voucher of 'shags' Grin

LikeSilver · 06/10/2014 18:40

lateseptember1964 The beard oil is this one by Percy Nobleman. It really works well for DH, doesn't smell of much (some of them are really citrusy) and lasts a very long time. I know my beard-geek DH would also recommend a beard comb to distribute the oil effectively, if your son doesn't have one already Smile

lateSeptember1964 · 06/10/2014 20:00

LikeSilver thanks for that my son will love it. Who knew a beard needed so much care Smile. Will order the oil and a comb for his stocking. Thanks I'm really pleased as I know he will love it.

nancy75 · 06/10/2014 20:04

I am torn between a vintage record player (original one not reproduction) or a tattoo.

DD and I always also get him a Christmas hamper of Australian food & drink (he is an Aussie), this will be much easier this year now that ocado do lots of things

nancy75 · 06/10/2014 20:06

What does beard oil do? dp has massive beard oil could be good!

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 06/10/2014 20:28

I have a £20 budget and currently no idea! He is a tad on the boring side so difficult to buy for...

LikeSilver · 06/10/2014 20:54

Glad to help lateseptember1964!

nancy75 It's like conditioner for head hair I think. Softens, strengthens, prevents breakage. Like conditioner I'm sure it's not actually necessary but it definitely makes DH's beard much softer and smoother and easier on my face! Ha.

MultipleMama · 07/10/2014 01:45

I think I finally know what I'm getting DH! I was going to go for the childhood book idea as it seems sentimental but he already has the 1st Edition Narnia books so his favourite horror book it is - and it's one he doesn't have! :)

Anybody know where I can find the 1st Edition of Frankenstein? Confused

Marking place because DP is so awkward to buy for!

Apparently he wants a new borderlands game for the Xbox? Not so sure about that though because evenings were pretty boring last January after he got assassins creed.

I had thought to get him either a home brew kit or a DIY guitar kit, 'cause he likes to tinker with things :)

Titsalinabumsquash · 07/10/2014 09:29

My DP is a really tech kind of person geek Grin

I want to get him an engineering project kit, something he can build and it will do stuff iyswim, he likes Lego technic but he does them all really quickly and they're expensive. I'd like it get him a more grown up version if anyone has any suggestions?

So far he has,

Google Cardboard
An "I am Groot" T-shirt

There will be the obligatory pants, socks, some sort of fun food making kit, last year it was a make your own smoked bacon and a chocolate making kit.

He's notoriously impossible to buy for!

Waitingonasunnyday · 07/10/2014 09:35

My DH would love a samurai sword but they are very expensive (well the ones he'd like - proper antique).

I have no idea what he will get in reality!

mommathatwearspink · 07/10/2014 09:44

I'm hoping to get DP a PS4 for Christmas to replace his Xbox360 that they are no longer producing games for Hmm

NoisyOyster · 07/10/2014 09:45

I'n doing him a massive stocking as apparently he's never had one since he was a child Shock

So he's got a little box with solid silver collar stiffeners engraved with his initials;
His favourite banana foam sweets Grin;
A signed photograph of eva green, his favourite bond girl;
Some little quirky golf gadgets;
A mini array of the world's hottest chilli powders as he likes his spicy food

Then I'm making the world's best advent calender (sooooo going to out me) out of 25 toilet rolls each covered in crepe paper, with a different miniatute whiskey or gin inside Smile

MultipleMama · 07/10/2014 15:25

DH is quite the money and book nerd Grin I think it comes with his job title Grin. He loves all things odd and creepy and disturbing just like I do. And he loves piercings and tattoos and body mods. So it's not that he's hard to buy for, it's more like; what can I get him that he's not already got Grin.

DH is quite the wood carver, makes beautiful little things in our garage. So I think I'm gunna get him so new tools, too :)
