I hate to ask, but what age did your DC's know?!?

DS1(12) appeared to know at 9 and out and out knew at 10.
DD1(10) I think may know but I am not sure. I just don't want her being the only child in school to believe.
Luckily DD2 is still small!

The magic will never go, I love Christmas but I just wonder when it is time to declare the worlds biggest secret?!?

When I told my 11 year old she said already knew but hadn't said anything because I was so convincing that she wasn't sure if my mum had told me!!!

My parents never ever told me....I don't think you need to tell really. The pretence of believing is just as magical :) I still believe!

My 10yr old DD doesn't know yet (I don't think!) and I don't plan to tell her yet. My friend had to tell her DS before he started high school because he still believed.

My dc are 13 and 14 and they have never told me they don't believe we still write letters and get the video!

Am 100% sure they don't believe but they don't want the magic to end so we all still carry on, I think children once they are in high school are told by older peers.

Agree with mrs ck I was never told either. I wasn't even suspicious when Father Christmas left a note in same handwriting as my dad! Someone at school told me

I think my two knew at about 8/9.

I was just glad to get the whole nonsense out the way. I love Christmas, decorations, sparkly things, food and scaring away the dark cold of winter, but I wasn't brought up to believe and I did it all a bit silly.

However, DD1 says she's glad I did and she enjoyed the magic.

Dd asked outright at 11 and we told ds last year when he was 11.

Dd asked outright last year at 8. She's sworn to secrecy so that she doesn't ruin it for DS who is 4.

Mine were told at school far to early (Ds1 7, DS2 6) but I've told them those children get their presents from their parents because they don't believe and so Father Christmas doesn't come to them. Pretty sure they know its a bluff but they're not letting on.

My DS was told by NDN daughter, he said on the way to school.
I asked him to keep this to himself for the benefit of DD.
IIRC (it was a long time ago) he was in Yr 2, DD was in Reception.

Now, they are 14.6 and 12. DS will slyly say "I'll ask Father Christmas (or as he pronounces it ^Favvah Christmas, , he's an Essex Boy) for an X-Box game"

"No, he only makes toys out of wood and nails , painted by elves.Not plastic tat".

Ds1 was suspicious of it all last year and now is certain it's all rubbish. He is almost 6. He questions everything though. He seems to be very logical and practical.

I haven't confirmed anything but I also haven't lied. I told him he should try and believe just in case you don't get presents if you don't believe. He seems happy to play along and has been asking to write a letter.

ds1 confirmed when he was 12. ds2 is 13 now but has autism and if he doesnt still believe, he wants to and is afraid to say otherwise just in case. the 2 dd's are 9 and 8 and definitely still believe. i have no intention of telling them. i am very convincing so i wouldnt be surprised if they think that i believe as well (of course i believe, i just help him out, he is totally real)

I remember my db telling me at around 6 or 7. my dm was furious! She and ddad did really well in countering my fears with some really magic stuff over the next couple of years. I think I suspected before db told me though. He actually apologised to me last Christmas for telling me. His dc are now that age and now realises what a mean thing to do!

I got told at 5. We had done stranger danger at school and I was very unhappy about a stranger coming in the house whilst we slept.

I was a bit odd

I had to tell DS1 when he was 11 (i.e. just before he went to secondary school). He was gutted that the bells he used to hear on Christmas Eve weren't those attached to the reindeer pulling the sleigh

I told her last night. I asked her is she would like to be part of the biggest secret on earth!

She knew already and said she didn't want to upset me then asked if her DB(12) knew!

DS was nearly 8 last year and he asked and we managed to bluff it. I dont think we will get away with it this year.

We took him on a Santa Steam Train and it was very obvious he was one of only a few 'older' ones. There did seem to be a lot of very younger ones who wouldn't have a clue but can see new parents would be excited by the whole thing

My SIL has twin sisters who are very 'young' totally ditsy and they believed until they were 13 and apparently spent a lot of time at school tyring to persuade their friends it was true

DS1 was always harder to make believe and then stopped believing at six when all the questions came out.

DD1 got told accidentally by DS1 just a few days ago. DTs were asleep upstairs and we were watching some TV when DS asked what we'd get in our stockings. DD demanded to know how we'd know what was in our stockings already and she glared at DS until he broke down and told her. She just laughed. She's seven.

DTs still believe and they're four.

Up until a few weeks ago, DD1 (10) believed. I was discussing it with her, when DD2 (7) popped up and said "it's mum and dad silly". Well, that was an awkward moment.

Dd1 asked me if FC was true, I have her my big lying face (she knows that one well) and said of course dear! She now knows but knows to pretend in front of me. FC only goes to those who believe!!

My DH and I were shocked this christmas morning when my 3yo DD said to me 'Mummy it's you and Daddy that got these presents for us isn't it'!
Of course we denied it vigorously but we just got a knowing look. I'm hoping that by this christmas she'll have forgotten that theory but knowing her she wouldn't tell us now in case she didn't get presents!
