I work in retail. The last 2 years have involved mad dashes round town after working all day with some horrible people taking out their Christmas woes on you and spending 73 billion hours waiting in queues and trying to avoid the crowds!

So I want to be organised by the first, nothing left to buy and only wrapping and decorating to worry about.

Anyone else up for the challenge?

Someone said on the "report Christmas stock" thread that Ikea has theirs in, not in Dublin yet. There are some seasonal foods, so I got Marshmallow snowmen for DD's hot choc, and they also had a new gingerbread house kit (in wrappin section, strangely) for you to make your own gingerbread mix but the templates to cut it are in the kit. And it's a "slot together" type template, so easier to get to stand up! But no wrapping paper or decorations yet.

I also got the presents already bought from storage, so will wrap those today and return to storage tomorrow. And include the ones from under my desk at work that I brought home yesterday.

Not there yet, but progress is being made!

Spent the afternoon wrapping, so have a good few things ready to go now, including dh's presents.

The only downside was dd came in while I was still at it. Nothing of hers in the collection, but she did find my excel spreadsheet printout. DH is hidden in printing, as he does read it (it's the presents for all of both our families, over 45 people). But dd is not. So she saw that lego was on the list (which is ok that we are looking too, as she is asking Santa for specific ones- oh crap, what ones did she point out for him now?!). And angry birds. Which is her Christmas Eve pjs rather than a game or anything exciting.

Oh well. I'm pretty sure she really knows but is playing along on Santa and tooth fairy for at least a year now. And if it means she will keep the magic, I can live with that.

Still too many blanks on that spreadsheet though.....

admiralclingus · 10/10/2014 22:28

I've had to tell dd that we send the presents to santa and he decides if she's been a good enough girl to have them, because as a (technically) single parent she is with me all the time unless I'm at work so has seen most of the stuff she's getting Sad
There are a few surprises for her that Ive had stashed or bought online and hopefully she'll forget by Christmas what they are!

Excited about Christmas stuff in IKEA! My aunt has promised us a trip after payday so it should be a wonderland in there by then! I've decided to go all out bonkers decoration wise this year now the sproglet is old enough to enjoy it with me!

I'm nearly done. Have spent pretty much last 24 hours solid on John Lewis and Book People website and the spreadsheet is nearly full.

Decided on the LOs too... although I'm still up trying to research sewing kits for my 4 yo.... why?!?!? GO TO BED STUPID WOMAN!!!

Hello all haven't been on here since the start of the thread but am about halfway there.

Have all DS main presents just need to get a couple more stocking fillers.
Have all the other kids in the family done so niece and nephews plus a few birthdays that happen in December

Still to get

Couple of christmas hampers
Presents for DH - no idea what to get!
DSis and BIL -again no ideas

Got side tracked from Christmas shopping with new baby shopping (dS2 due in January) but need to get back on track with christmas as don't want to be shopping heavily pregnant!
Got given some next vouchers as a thank you from my boss for some overtime I did so hoping I can get something for someone in there

admiralclingus · 17/10/2014 16:08

How are we all doing? T minus 45 days until deadline!!!

spottymoo · 17/10/2014 16:14

I'm 3/4 done just need to go in town and get dh's presents
Get a tv for dss and a few xbox games
Dds ipad in being delivered Monday.
Nieces present I can't get till December as I get her the big boots soap and glory set when it's half price.
Then just need to wrap everything Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/10/2014 17:07

I'm in limbo at the moment - confined to barracks after surgery.
I want to get on with things but unless it's online , it's not do-able.

DH and I went shopping on Sunday (to buy an unfestive but very welcome new dishwasher) loads of the shops didn't have their full stock.

So I'm devising a list on M&S to deliver to store that I can pick up when I'm out and about.

I want to leave the December weekends free just to do things with DH and the DC.

So lists, more lists, planning at the moment. Then I can enjoy Hallowe'en and Guy Fawkes and Autumn Smile

dollybean · 17/10/2014 17:48

Well.......I thought I was more or less done but I'm now having to buy for friends and their children even though a couple of years ago we agreed it was getting silly ie the expense, amount of stuff they don't need ect. Instead we thought meeting up for nice day out would be better as we don't actually see that much of each other. Anyway, I've now been informed the presents are back on and we're still having a day out as well Hmm. I thinks it's because those who have a younger child than mine feel as though they aren't getting a return on their investment iyswim.
So basically I still have alot to do after being within touching distance of the finish line. I've got some work to do if I'm going to get back on track! On a positive note I've just ordered some pjs for the xmas eve hamper and the books were delivered today.
Just need to keep reminding myself that I'm actually very organised compared to normal people Grin

LokiBear · 17/10/2014 19:48

Still to get my mum, dad and one of my brothers. Need a minion for DD's stocking and a selection box for her pile. Is it too early to buy a selection box? Also need some festive real ales and chocolate covered popcorn for DH'S movie night hamper. Oh, and a frog. DD insists she wants to buy dh a frog!

tanya1312 · 18/10/2014 06:31

Well I have done the younger two , and niece, so hopefully should be done by dec 1st, need to get nephew done, friends two children, and money put away for my mum, and money for older 2 towards clothes/trainer shopping x

admiralcslingeringcorpse · 28/10/2014 21:29

How you doing 70? Are you feeling better?

I am almost done folks!!!

A couple of bits to buy for DDS dad, something that needs ordering and some sweeties for DDS stocking and that's it!!!

How we getting on?

BiddyPop · 29/10/2014 14:02

I bought 2 books for DD and another for DNiece yesterday at the airport. I priced some beauty stuff for DSis on a trip later next month.

And I both updated my lists and wrote out my first 2 batches of cards (friends, and wider family) on the plane. I have to wait for DD's design cards from school for close family.

BiddyPop · 29/10/2014 14:03

So things are falling into place....perhaps by 2nd Dec I will be done!! Grin

MabliHeulwen · 01/11/2014 00:42

I properly broke the back of the shopping today - everything is either bought, on order, or ready to be bought come next payday. Will start wrapping in the week! I did start twitching though...

MIL has also turned down DH's invite for Christmas, leaving me fuller of the festive spirit than I really have any right to be!

Tonicandgin · 01/11/2014 01:04

Joining a little late, but I need to be done by Dec. Started buying a couple of wks ago plus have written 2/3rds of my c cards.

inchoccyheaven · 01/11/2014 01:51

I got all boxes and bags of presents out tonight to check what got and write lusts. Then boxed up dp and dc presents in separate boxes so easy to see who has what, only got main for ds1, main for dp and siblings presents to get now which hs great as then concentrate on more xmassy bits like decorations etc as might have to start from scratch if exh won't let me sort through what we had. Hoping to just get the sentimental bits back but could be tricky.
Will try and run freezer down socan defrost it and restock with xmas goodies.

Pollywallywinkles · 01/11/2014 07:33

I've broke the back of my gift shopping yesterday. But I'm not aiming to be finished by the start of December as I will be waiting for late sales for some of the gifts that I plan to buy.

Wrapping paper, cards, crackers etc were bought in January. I normally buy up to 3 new baubles each year and they were purchased yesterday. So everything is in hand.

Blithereens · 01/11/2014 13:10

I'm doing pretty well - just got to get stocking bits for DH and DM. Floundering a bit wrt the in-laws, though. I've got bits for DMIL but no main, and main for DFIL but no bits, and hardly anything at all for DBIL and my two DSIL, both of whom have flaming birthdays as wel as Christmas. Not a clue! DH no help of course Hmm Grin

admiralcslingeringcorpse · 03/11/2014 20:33

Right!!

How are we all getting on with 27 days remaining?!

I need to admit something.

I won't be finished by the first.

I want to buy my friend the no7 box from work when it goes to star gift, which means I actually won't be finished until the week before Christmas Shock

BUT!!! Everyone else is pretty much done! Need to get something for bil girlfriend and a Christmas jumper for me, dd and my friend (tradition!) and then the edible stocking goodies, and I'm done! (Except no7 box)

LokiBear · 03/11/2014 20:43

I need to get something for my mum, nan and brother them I am done! Oh, I need a minion for DD's stocking. I can't wait to be finished shopping Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/11/2014 21:46

Plan of action (DH agrees because it lets him off the hook with shopping) is I will go out on Wednesday armed with my lists and buy what I need.

Don't want to be out at weekends trying to buy buy things (especially if they are bulky)

I'm taking DD and her mate out shopping but I just intend to waft about in a nice jumper, drink coffee and try on lipstick Wink

So , Wednesday, I'll drive along, park myself in Starbucks and work out where I'm going.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 10/11/2014 22:09

27 days remaining Shock

Really?

Well I am doing well, I have fallen utterly in love with T K Max spode Christmas plates, I must have them. All presents pretty much done.

A friend has said she will take me to Ikea all is well.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 10/11/2014 22:10

admiralcslingeringcorpse · 10/11/2014 22:47

I'm SO organised this year, I've even started wrapping Shock

I am also ridiculously close to finishing it hurts!!!
