I am a massive cheese lover - French, stinking, oozing sorts especially - but after 2 pregnancies am a bit out of the habit.
Really looking forward to a Boxing Day cheese board - but am catering for PIL who prefer mild, hard traditional cheese so am looking for a mix of crowd pleasers..
What do you have?

Lancashire bomb. The best cheese ever...

Wolfcub · 15/12/2013 18:55

manchgego, delice de cremier, Berkswell, doux de montages or ossey irraty (apologies if any of this spelling is dodgy)

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 15/12/2013 18:57

zing they changed the cheese guidance during my last pregnancy, all hard cheese is apparently fine, including Stilton. Danish blue is out as it's softer, as are the obvious soft ones like Brie unless it's hot.

SuckItAndSee · 15/12/2013 18:58

a colston bassett stilton
Mrs. Kirkham's Lancashire
A Vacherin
and a manchego.

brainwashed · 15/12/2013 20:18

As long as there is some langres there I will be happy.

ScrambledSmegs · 15/12/2013 20:25

Godminster smoked cheddar
Stichelton
A good ripe Brie
And maybe a ewe's milk /goat one too

Not necessarily all of those, maybe some different ones from our local cheese shop, but 4-5 normally works well.

MincedMuffPies · 15/12/2013 20:29

Mine is

Cornish blue
Creamy smoked cheese
Brie
And something random that I will pick up randomly to try.

Bugsylugs · 15/12/2013 20:37

Sorry have not read all the thread but most of the supermarkets now do pasteurised Brie so no need to get withdrawals. Just check the labels

Davros · 15/12/2013 20:47

Only british cheese for us. We have great cheese here, why do we need to support foreign non-local producers that have more miles to come?
We order from Neals Yard every year, usually:
Montgomery cheddar
Tunworth
Colston Bassett stilton

lucysmam · 15/12/2013 20:52

oooh, I so shouldn't have clicked!! Mouth watering cheese suggestions....will be having a wander to the market and supermarket for some extras this week Grin

Liveinthepresent · 15/12/2013 22:57

Thanks all - so many suggestions I am drooling at the prospect! Lots of old favourites and some I have never heard of - so a bit of research needed. Am now wondering how many different cheeses are justifiable.
Yes to those pregnant - there are far more options than you first think - the only thing was I found I slept terribly after cheese when pregnant.

If you can find it, our village deli does a lovely cheddar with orange and champagne. It really is to die for, and highly recommended. Grin
