would you be ready?

Our gifts are done.
We have a turkey crown, sausage meat and stuffing.

I would need:
Veg and trimmings
Puddings
Snacks
Drinks
And a team of cleaners to do the blitz I'm trying to fit in around work.

Are you ready

MrsCliveStanden · 14/12/2013 17:09

I'm done with the presents but we would have to eat steak pie (home made at least) with apple crumble for desert but no wine!!!

YoDiggity · 14/12/2013 17:10

No. Not even a tiny bit ready. And we'd have to have shepherds pie. I've not wrapped a thing, not written a card, done only about 25% of the necessary present shopping.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 14/12/2013 17:11

When is too late MrsdeV?
Can Monday be my manic Monday do you think?

NoComet · 14/12/2013 17:13

Shopping done (no wrapping)
Meat ordered by DM
There's enough booze
Tree bought, but not up. Likewise last out door set piece that's new bulbs came this morning.

Main not done is frozen party bits for Christmas Eve (I've iced up the freezer)and cards ( because I loath the job)

NoComet · 14/12/2013 17:14

Cake made
Mincemeat made
Spiced cranberry sauce made

Thanks to DH

Badvocatyuletide · 14/12/2013 17:15

Got all the gifts.
No food.
Some booze.
So, if Xmas was to tomorrow it would be sausage and mash for dinner :)

octopusinasantasack · 14/12/2013 17:19

No. Nothing is wrapped up at all. I was going to do it today but I hate wrapping presents so I've been putting it off.

Kaekae · 14/12/2013 17:22

Have got most presents but need to be wrapped. Haven't got any food yet but since we aren't having guests I won't be buying much. Christmas tree has been up since the 1st of December!

stillenacht · 14/12/2013 17:23

No tree.
No food.
No presents.

Standard for music teachers at this time of year.

Philoslothy · 14/12/2013 17:30

We gave a tree, some baking and preserving done.nothing else is done , including presents. - we haven't even discussed which presents the children want.

Christmas is ten days away yet ! We will pop out on the 23rd and pick up a few bits

deemented · 14/12/2013 17:33

No. These past few months have been really tough, and I'd honestly like to just cancel Christmas altogether.

I can't imagine anything worse than trying to force myself to be jolly for the kids sake when all I really want to do is go to bed and forget it all.

So no. Have a couple of gifts each for the kids, but that's it.

olibeansmummy · 14/12/2013 17:40

We'd be good to go! Presents are bought and wrapped, we have our turkey crown, pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings in the freezer and Christmas pudding, cake and snacks in the cupboard. We'd even have sprouts as we're having them for tea tomorrow anyway! We also have plenty of beer and wine :)

Demented...:(
I can empathise.
Not really looking forward to it this year.
If I could go to bed and wake up in jan that would suit me fine tbh :(
Hope things pick up for you x

Philoslothy · 14/12/2013 17:55

Well we are stuffed then! We have nothing and never do.

We always go out on the 23rd and buy our food and presents, never takes the whole day, no need to panic.

deemented · 14/12/2013 18:13

TBH things are looking at getting better anytime soon. It's all just a pile of shite, really.

God, I just read my first post back and I sound so... depressed. Perhaps its time to go to the doctor.

Sorry to go completely o/t.

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 14/12/2013 20:11

There'd be a reasonable amount of presents, though none wrapped. There might be some discrepancy in amounts between DCs though as we are still waiting on a few orders.

There'd be no decorations or tree as they are still packed up at various places in the house Hmm

And we'd be eating beans on toast.

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 14/12/2013 20:15

Hugs, dee Thanks

Don't force anything or feel you have to make it perfect. Pressure to do the whole Xmas thing can just make things so much harder (been there).

And yes, go to the doctor if this is what you feel like. xx

thegreylady · 14/12/2013 21:18

If I wrapped into the wee small hours I'd be all ready :)

MissPricklePants · 14/12/2013 21:33

I have ordered the last few pressies tonight, they are due to be delivered Monday. I am currently doing an online food shop to come on Friday as last year Asda made a cock up resulting in me having to go out to the supermarket Christmas Eve with a screaming child (single parent so couldnt leave her home!) and wrapping will be done over the next few morns when dd is at school before I start work at lunchtime. So not ready if it were tomorrow but will be all done by next weekend (hopefully!!)

PigeonPie · 14/12/2013 21:43

Um, well, no!

The cake is made but not iced;
The cards are here, but not written;
Most of the presents are here or ordered and about to be delivered to my aged parents, but not wrapped;
I have made a batch of fudge today for school presents, but need to make another batch tomorrow;
The tree is still in the loft; the house is not clean; I still have minutes to write from a meeting last week and a meeting on Monday as well.

It'll either all come together or it wont!

Mintyy · 14/12/2013 21:46

No, nowhere near ready. I like to confine the whole Christmas thing to a couple of weeks of the year. I just don't understand why I seem to be in the minority on this!

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 14/12/2013 22:34

It's just got out of hand Mintyy, that's all there is to it!

Golddigger · 15/12/2013 08:44

That would be ok if you didnt have much to do, had plenty of energy, not doing much else for 2 weeks, and could pretty much guarantee that you were going to not be unwell.
And I suppose, not giving much of a hoot if things went wrong and christmas didnt happen.
