stocking filler for choc / sweet hating toddler

DS (2.7) doesn't like chocolate or sweets. We've not discouraged him from having it but he won't touch anything with chocolate on. He likes biscuits and cake, just just seeking ideas for something festive that could take the place of choc santa / coins in a stocking? Obviously this is more for my own satisfaction and family awww factor than because he will care one jot... But I'd like to find something appropriate. If all else fails it will be bags of McVities gingerbread men which he is addicted to anyway.

Santa gingerbread man or similar?

My youngest two get ridiculously excited about satsumas. I think it's my fault as I don't buy them much they give me migraines and DH and the older two don't eat them so they are a rarity.

HowBadCanThisGet · 06/12/2013 23:32

I have put cereal bars in the stocking, as we don't normally have them, but they are sweet and can be eaten with no preparation from me

imnotweirdimlimitededition · 07/12/2013 00:09

Tiny boxes of cereal? In our house any cereal sugar coated is considered a treat

berberana · 07/12/2013 00:16

I like the idea of cereal bars - I'm not sure he's ever had one so it would be a novelty! He would get far more excited over a banana than a satsuma, not for the rarity, more the amusement at finding in a giant sock!

Costa do nice festive biscuits.

berberana · 07/12/2013 00:23

Yes, festive biscuits would be the thing - and notso's suggestion of a gingerbread santa would go down well I think. They shouldn't be too hard to find, I live in Wigan, there's a bakery every 10 feet!

Ooh noblegiraffe you've just reminded me to buy DD and DS1 a giant Bourbon biscuit from Costa to go in their stockings. They pester for one every time we go and I say no because they insist on ordering gigantic, sickly drinks!

berberana · 07/12/2013 00:26

Alas a giant Bourbon would horrify my DS... But I might have to investigate this wonder for myself!

Ds was like this as a toddler. I used to put in fruit flakes, little fruit bags that I always refuse to buy (lunchbox ones), fruit winders, home made shortbread, little iced mini cakes etc

BeaWheesht · 07/12/2013 00:33

Oh and humzinger bars

enormouse · 07/12/2013 00:46

I bought my DS a bag of star shaped shortbread pieces from the co-op. Think they were about £1. He's not really a big fan of chocolates but does love biscuits.

Unfortunately, DP ate them so I'll need to get a new bag before Christmas eve and hide them more successfully.

MummyPig24 · 07/12/2013 02:25

Last year I saw some Organix selection boxes in Boots. I haven't seen any this year though.

HavantGuard · 07/12/2013 02:54

This?

Or if you felt like it you could make your own biscuits, sweet or savoury, and use a Christmas tree shaped cutter.

If you have a festive biscuit cutter and some not too brittle cheddar you can make cheese christmas tree shapes. Weird but popular with dairy fiend toddlers in my experience though DH kept acquiring them because they fitted the biscuits nicely

MadameDefarge · 07/12/2013 03:01

we always had a satsuma and apple in ours.

BillyBanter · 07/12/2013 03:02

A magic banana, presliced.

You stick a pin in the banana and swivel it round and repeat at regular intervals so that when he opens it he gets a slicey surprise. Also make pin pricks along it to spell out merry Christmas.

BobCrotchstitch · 07/12/2013 04:34

Small cellophane bags full of soft fruits? DS is 9 and still views a pun net of strawberries as the height of decadence Xmas Grin

normaleggy · 07/12/2013 06:47

I bought my ds a little box of Christmas shortbread biscuits and my dd a box of mini party rings both about £1 from sainsbury's

CozyOtter · 07/12/2013 07:11

In Morrisons the other day, I noticed an Organix Christmas selection box which was filled with their snack range.

Here it is on the organix website:

Dd is ten and doesn't like sweets and chocolate either. I've bought some of the scottie dog shortbread biscuits from Sainsbury's and I put Pringles in hers as well. Like you I never discouraged her from having sweets or chocolate she just doesn't like them.

MARGUERITE18 · 07/12/2013 09:28
