Morning Xmas Grin

< sends out smoke signals for giraffes>

What's everyone up to today?
I stayed up late and have just woken up and feel yuck and puffy.
Too much sleep?

farrowandbawlbauls · 04/12/2013 11:20

Too much sleep gives me a headache so that yuck and puffy feeling is probably due to sleeping late.

I've been and done a few bits but am now waiting for a couple of deliveries. I need to transfer money over tonight too ready for the shopping trip tomorrow.

What's everyone else up to?

ChestyNutRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 04/12/2013 11:29

Are you going into town shopping?
Much left to get?

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 04/12/2013 11:36

Ds and I are just going to the garden centre. A relative has asked for Yankee candles, and my dsis wants a new fish for her tank. We might also see if FC is about.

Then a mass wrapping session this afternoon while ds has a sleep. My Dds always always get ill during the last week of term and im so disorganised I end up getting to bed at 3am Christmas eve/day just to get finished. Not this year!!

LittleMissGreen · 04/12/2013 11:59

Panicking here - got 2 uni essays to finish, and countless evening meetings, before I can even think about wrapping, and December seems to be flying away.

farrowandbawlbauls · 04/12/2013 12:07

Chesty - no, Meadowhell. Not a lot to get, just stuff for DD and she doesn't want much. I'm going mainly to stuff my face and for a nosy in the Yankee candle shop.

Hallow, I love garden centres this time of year - mid you, I just love garden centres in general - there is a little something that's a bit more special this time of year though - no idea what it is.

Wrapping is one of the best bits for me - I love it. Good for you getting organised, 3am wrapping just to be woken up again an hour later to watch the kids tear it all up again is a bit...well, you wonder why you bothered.

Little - don't panic too much or you'll never get the essays done. Are there any meetings you can rearrange for after Christmas? December is flying away this year, certainly agree with you there.

A yankee candle shop you say?!
My idea of heaven Xmas Grin

hallow I love a good garden centre at christmas, one of our local ones has reindeer!
I did wrappageddon yesterday...still not finished.

little don't envy you the essays, I remember the panic well Xmas Shock

OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 14:26

I bought enough scented tea lights last year so am sorted for smelly candles here. We are all set, actually, apart from DH choosing himself a new hoody, and I'm getting some BBH, but presents for DS are completely sorted, woo hoo. Not wrapped yet though. Though we picked up a cheap small set of LEGO in the supermarket the other night when we were food shopping, and DS is really loving it, so now we are wondering about getting him some LEGO on top of what he already has for Xmas, though when I looked online, I see I missed a Black Friday deal and now it is back to twice the price it was, and I can't bring myself to pay that, when they could do it for so much less. I wish they'd just offer one fair price and stop with all the flash sales and stuff!

LittleMissGreen · 04/12/2013 15:19

Thanks for the kind words :)
I have taken a deep breath, looked at the calendar, and set myself some targets to get stuff done by.

farrowandbawlbauls · 04/12/2013 16:32

Little -good luck

Ornamental - try ebay, or the lego site itself - their VIP card is worth collecting points on and build up very quickly which is very helpful on the price (especially when you can get most of it for free if you have enough points)

The 3ds arrived today - just need to get a couple of games for him to play on it and that's ds sorted.

DD is easy to buy for this year, 2 shops for her stuff and that's her done.

OP posts:
OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 16:55

Thanks, farrow, will investigate the value of the points on the LEGO site. The selling price is currently the same high price as on Amazon. I don't think I'd get the half price's worth of points as per the Black Friday offer. Argh. Resent paying double!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 04/12/2013 17:01

I love garden centres at christmas, they are so festive with all their lovely decs. Bought some candles and then ordered the fish for my dsis.
My local one doesn't have reindeer, but it did have a whole Xmas model village set up, we were there for ages looking at all of it. They also have a really nice cafe there so ds and I had some tasty lunch. Chorizo and cheese sourdough toasties and then hot chocolate fondants with clotted cream!
Also got ds some gruffalo wellies to go under the tree,.and the Dds some stampers with shimmery ink for their stockings.
We have found lego to be cheaper through the lego website rather than Amazon mainly. And if you order over a certain amount you get a free gift.
littlemiss good luck with reaching your targets, you'll enjoy your Xmas break so much more if you aren't panicking so much about looming deadlines.
Oh, and I didn't get my wrapping done today, and won't get a chance in the rest of this week so its been put off til next week now!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 04/12/2013 17:02

Oops, apologies for the epic post!
What lego set is it you're after out of curiosity? Tesco had some reduced sets last week.

farrowandbawlbauls · 04/12/2013 17:16

ASDA is a good place for lego.

OP posts:
OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 17:20

Epic is good! Blether away! Xmas Smile

Ooh, must get to a garden centre, not done that yet. Need more decorations, as we have a bigger tree this year.

DS is getting Cars (Lightning McQueen) wellies, we will leave them out on the night of the fifth, for st. Nick, and fill with chocolates. Spreads things out a bit, and embraces the German tradition, we loved there for a year last year.

DS has just turned three, so brand new to LEGO. We just thought we'd get a big box of bricks and things, this one: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BMKL5WY/ref=gno_cart_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE. I don't want to pay £50 when I could have got it for £25. I will begrudge it even more and curse it every time I step on it! Xmas Smile

OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 17:22

Thanks, I just price checked Asda and Toys R Us, mainly Amazon is cheaper. Toys R Us do price match, and have a spend £75 on LEGO and get a £20 voucher for LEGO, but don't have this box of basics.

farrowandbawlbauls · 04/12/2013 17:23

Three is too young for lego to be honest. I'd save the lego for another couple of years and aim for something chunkier for now.

farrowandbawlbauls · 04/12/2013 17:25

Ornamental - Mama, observes the 5th too.

I'll be doing it this year as it's something that a friend got me into two years ago - I just think it's a lovely little thing to add.

OP posts:
OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 17:26

Some of it says suitable from three. He has the Mega Blocks but they aren't as versatile. And he is really liking the little set we got the other night. He actually has enough coming - is getting Playmobil pirates on Xmas day. Gah, just wanted to capture his interest as he is loving the LEGO so much. Last two mornings he has sprung out of bed and it is the first thing he goes to play with.

OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 17:27

Yeah, I thought she did! And you too! Woo, it will soon catch on and everyone will be doing it - like Advent boxes and Xmas Eve hampers! Xmas Smile

3 is quite young for little lego, have you tried duplo? You would probably get some in the sales for a steal, and definitely on ebay/gumtree etc when people get the little more grown up stuff for Christmas and want to pass on the duplo.
But if you know he'd be fine with the little pieces then go for it.
In fact, I've just ordered the bloody lego tower for my DC! We are massive lego fans and I reckon even at £50 it's quite a good deal. Looks like shit loads of lego!

ChestyNutRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 04/12/2013 19:05

Only 2 sleeps until st nick comes....and my birthday Xmas Grin

What sort of things get left in the shoes?
