A little bag with sweets, but only if the shoes are clean.

Just a quick hello. I'm on my knees at the moment, can't wait for the end of term. Got around 500 assessment papers to mark until the weekend, no time for Christmas Xmas Sad

Ornamental, I'm also from Germany. Nikolaus is coming for a visit on Friday, DS is very excited. Christmas fayre at school this Friday too, can't wait to put on my elf costume Xmas Grin But until then I have to get through shit marking, bake waffles for the fayre, take DS for a haircut, tidy the tip house and so on. Seriously need the holiday.

Can't believe that in 3 weeks we will be sitting around opened presents Xmas Grin

Will try and pop in again, latest by the weekend and then it should ease off.

Gah! Should update before posting.

Chesty, he is bringing the Scooby Doo bedding in our house. I know, not very Niolausy, but I'm sick of the old bedding and I want DS to have it after having spent so much time decorating his bedroom and playroom. I think he is also bringing a small dino dice game and something else, but can't remember because there are far too many parcels and I forgot how much junk I got Will report back on Friday when they are open. There will also be Nikolaus chocolate from Aldi.

Hello, hallow.
Not tried Duplo, we have MegaBlocks which seem similar, I think he is ready for LEGO. He isn't one for putting things in his mouth, and his fingers are very strong and dexterous. What are the reasons for people thinking three is too young?

Hi, Mama, I'm not from Germany but we lived there last year for a while. I am collecting traditions from all our travels! Xmas Smile
Just give them all an A! :) And keep your son's hair long and chill out! Xmas Grin

I think Megablocks are similar, but duplo is smaller and clicks in without falling apart. It's not that I definitely think he's too young, I don't know him! But my DNiece is 4 and not quite ready to do much with lego other than make towers. Which is fine, but she struggles to separate it again and can't yet play independently with it. If you were to get it now, it wouldn't be wasted as it's something you'll keep for years and years, but if you'd rather get it cheaper I'd wait it out as there's no rush. :)

We checked out Duplo and felt it would be a waste of money at this stage, and that he was ready for LEGO. The mini set we have is a little box with wheels, which he just loves putting together. Just don't have many blocks with it for other options, but what there is, he loves. We are happy to play with him of course, so even if he isn't quite ready to separate it all, that's ok. Also, even though he doesn't put things in his mouth, at this age, I still watch him like a hawk, just in case!
Ok, we will watch Amazon et al closely and snap up any bargains as soon as they come on!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 04/12/2013 21:33

Fair enough then, lego is absolutely brilliant fun so you definitely won't regret it!

OrnamentalAsAnything · 04/12/2013 21:48

Thanks! I have started looking at all the sets, wow, there is so much choice! I am getting carried away liking all the minifigures! Series 1 wants £200 for the set! Yikes!

ISawMamaPizzaKissingSantaClaus · 05/12/2013 06:19

I wish I could give them all an A and chill out with DSs hair, but it's not possible Wink

Have you thought about Playmobil? DS is 4, but even for him Lego is too tricky and with Playmobil he can straight play with things.

farrowandbawlbauls · 05/12/2013 08:08

Don't bother with the mini figures - you can pick them up as a little treat from almost most sainsburys supermarkets.

The sets are brilliant though, I do recommend investing in superglue of you are going to buy sets - once they come apart again you've had it. Glue it together but try not to glue the moving parts..I know lego is expensive but I personally think it's worth the money. I've still got sets from when my brother and I were kids.
