Dd age 9 already has a Nintendo 3ds a Google nexus and a Wii.

My mil wants me to buy a gift for her with this as my budget. I don't want to get lots of little things as I will end up using up all my ideas for xmas and we don't have 120 quid to spend !

I've asked dd and she keeps coming up with little cheap things like socks.
Mil wants me to get her something extravagant ????

A puppet theatre?

matilda101 · 28/11/2013 20:49

How about an activity I.e riding lessons / dance lessons - something she might be interested in that she could use over the year?

dancemom · 28/11/2013 20:49

A phone

An iPod

Concert tickets

Judybluey · 28/11/2013 20:50

Gosh wish my 9 year old DD would ask for socks! Grin

Oreocrumbs · 28/11/2013 20:51

A years cinema pass (or however long £120 gets you).

Personally, I would buy a nice present and put a chunk of it in the bank for her.

I'm all for buying nice things but if she really doesn't want or need it, would it be a problem to buy something and bank the rest?

Oreocrumbs · 28/11/2013 20:52

Not meaning to sound like a judgy kill joy there, honestly!

IceNoSlice · 28/11/2013 20:55

An activity. Horse riding, sailing, dance lessons.

A bike?

iPod or bike probably?

Would she like either of those things?

ChristmasYoni · 28/11/2013 21:20

Does she have a tv in her bedroom?? Always an option x

chicaguapa · 28/11/2013 21:23

Would she like a satchel? The Leather Satchel company do nice ones and with extras it could come to £120. It'll last her for years.

ChristineDaae · 28/11/2013 21:27

Sorry no idea on gifts but why is your mil telling you what you should spend money on? Surely what you do/don't get your DD is up to you?

WidowWadman · 28/11/2013 21:29

ChristineDaae - erm, I think the MIL asked to buy the daughter a present from MIL with a budget of £120 - can't see anything wrong with that. Satchel sounds like a lovely idea.

Pootles2010 · 28/11/2013 21:30

Zoo keeper for a day? Tickets to musical/theatre for the two of them?

OverlyMe · 28/11/2013 21:31

Christine I think OP means the money is from the Grandmother.

I agree with an activity (riding, dance, sport), or a nice dress, piece of timeless gold jewellery, tickets to a musical, nice books, kindle, new duvet etc for bedroom,

Kyrptonite · 28/11/2013 21:34

A really posh hamster/rabbit/gerbil and huge cage

nancy75 · 28/11/2013 21:36

how about tickets to a show? No idea where you are op but if you are close to london there is Matilda or Charlie and the chocolate factory, both good for a 9 year old dd. Maybe Mil could take her and make the gift a day out for them both?

SparklyNewNameChange · 28/11/2013 21:36

Expensive day out? London theatre show, Harry Potter tour, that sort of thing. That's what I'd do for ours, especially the theatre, we could never afford it otherwise.

NearTheWindmill · 28/11/2013 21:39

Agree theatre tickets, zoo keeper, or perhaps a camera of her own.

Nerfmother · 28/11/2013 21:41

Start a charm bracelet. Pandora or links or something.

JoyceDivision · 28/11/2013 21:45

3 pair ofconverse Grin

fuzzpig · 28/11/2013 21:46

Loving the idea of a 'posh hamster' :o

I'd go for a day out type thing - theme park or musical?

VoldemortsNipple · 28/11/2013 21:51

Roller boots
Trampoline (space permitting)
Bike
Piece of furniture like a desk or dressing table
Accessories for a bedroom makeover
A decent coat and boots for winter or a pair of Ugg boots (with growing room for two winters)
Digital camera
A nice jewellery box and piece of jewellery.

OutragedFromLeeds · 28/11/2013 21:52

I'd go for a show/musical if that would be a treat.

Matilda is brilliant and would cost £120 for 2 if you go for good seats. Or get cheaper seats and let her get something from the gift shop (£30 for a hoody!).

Is she into One Direction or anything?
