We've got elf down from the loft, in-laws are booked to come down and help decorate, need to wrap up the few festive bits I've bought for the elf to deliver and sort advent calendars.

I'm getting so excited!! :)

I just spotted the thread title and thought, why what's happening on Sunday ? I'm ashamed, deeply ashamed. Blush Sad

BabsAndTheRu · 27/11/2013 09:46

While doing the school run we have just seen a huge lorry load of Christmas trees being delivered to our local garden centre. We peeped and waved and the driver waved back to the kids. So excited. Think however I have sent the kids of to school completely hyper now. I'm definitely worse than the kids. Love it.

Rosvita · 27/11/2013 11:20

I am excited as it's dd's 3rd birthday Friday so she's having a little tea party then Saturday we're going to the christmS thing at longleat then Sunday plan on putting up the tree whilst listening to festive songs!

Guitargirl · 27/11/2013 11:26

WaitMonkey - for shame on you! Grin

I am very excited, Elf prepped and ready. Christmas bedding for the DCs ordered this morning from ebay. Craft stuff also ordered this morning from Yellow Moon. Sunday breakfast planned. Planning on getting the tree on Sunday and then spending Monday decorating.

Have rescued the advent calendars from the depths of the Christmas cupboard but still need to fill them.

ScooseIsLoose · 27/11/2013 11:56

Scoose birthday twins! Have Cake and Wine for Sunday

HappyAsEyeAm · 27/11/2013 12:12

Yes! I have bought a Christmas box (£5 in The Works) to present to the DC on Sunday with all of their Christmas run up surpises in it. Now I need to find all the bits that I'bve bought! I know I've ut them somewhere safe. We have Christmas duvet cover, Disney DVD, loads of books - The Night Before Christmas, Alfie's Christmas, Mog's Christmas, possible a Topsy and Tim Christmas one too, Christmas jumpers and socks and also bibs for the toddler, chocs, decorations to make etc. Can't wait to get it all together.

How are you all giving them to your DC? Big fanfare? Handing them over, or leaving on the doorstep? I need to know!

iloveholidays · 27/11/2013 12:44

I'm using our hamper that I bought from home bargains to put advent calendar in etc. elf will arrive with advent calendar, decoration for each of my DDs, Christmas book and dvd. I've bought a few dvds, craft sets and books I'll let the elf deliver over December. re usable advent calendars are from us xx

jennymac · 27/11/2013 14:04

I would be if I wasn't going to be waking up with a hangover about a two hour drive from home (db's 40th birthday party the night before!) Just going to have to get the big Christmas guns out the following week instead.

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 27/11/2013 14:06

We are going to the Panto, then im.at work. Cant decide when to put the tree up. Usually 1st dec byt dds 2nd birthday is 19th dec and I sort of feel obliged to wait til after then Confused

WhomessweetWhomes · 27/11/2013 14:07

Excited about Christmas - yes, definitely. Excited about the 1st December - no, it's not Christmas!

CrazyOldCatLady · 27/11/2013 16:11

Not exactly. I would be but I've my driving test on Wednesday so I'm mentally postponing the start of December till Thursday, when I'm going to put up the christmas tree in work.

MirandaWest · 27/11/2013 16:17

I'm not excited about 1st December as I'll be away from home working and thanks to weekend engineering works I'll be catching a rail replacement bus at 6:15am to get into London in time.
Am intending to go to an Advent service at southwark cathedral though which will be nice :)

peaz · 27/11/2013 16:24

We're putting ours up on Saturday! It's DS2s birthday on the Sunday so we won't have time to do it then. DH is working late Monday-Thursday and DS1 has been badgering us since last month to put it up so we will have to do it a day early!

It generally comes down around the 27th/28th. DS2 started a new tradition last year of reaching for an ornament and bringing down the whole tree in the process...

iloveholidays · 30/11/2013 19:15

elf all wrapped up ready to go along with advent calendars, Christmas shrek and little decoration each. very excited now :-)

One more sleep Grin Grin

Dp is looking a bit Hmm Confused at me with my pile of choc xmas puds, little gifts and slips of paper for the re-useable calendars! just waiting until I'm sure the girls are sleeping to put them out Grin

HaBumbug · 30/11/2013 19:52

I can't wait!

We are putting on the Christmas bedding, Christmas sofa covers and hanging the Christmas Curtains.

The DC will open the first of their advent hampers in front of a log fire and the twinkling lights of the trees.

All the decorations will be up, Our theme this year is a Narnia / Anna Karenina fusion, Hopefully the ice sculptures will last a while!

After lunch (roast swan) we are taking the DC on a Reindeer Cull, then back to snuggle on the sofa in new fleecy PJ's with hot choc!

LynetteScavo · 30/11/2013 19:56

There are 12 days of Christmas, surely.

Confused

Grin @ HaBumbug

MrsMaryCooper · 30/11/2013 19:57

DS is frantically excited about starting his advent calendar.

lucysmam · 30/11/2013 20:03

Grin HaBumbug...sounds lovely...don't lick the ice sculptures though, your tongue might get stuck

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/11/2013 20:09

Christmas Bedding? Is that a joke?

Aren't you all fed up and exhausted by the 24th?

Golddigger · 30/11/2013 20:16

HaBumBug. you had me going for a bit there. I was imagining everything.

morethanpotatoprints · 30/11/2013 20:29

I am looking forward to Christmas at Christmas, its a novel idea of mine Grin
I don't think chair covers and Christmas bedding is a joke.
Our decs go up a week before Christmas it is so much more magical than elfs on Dec 1st. Had never heard of this before this thread, you learn something new on here all the time.
