I need largish but cheap stocking fillers!!

My DM made 2 beautiful patchwork stockings for my DSs when they were born. Unfortunately they are about 2 ft tall and 8 inches across at the bottom, getting wider at the top!

So I end up spending a fortune on 'little' stocking fillers!

Any ideas for some more filling gifts without costing the earth?!!!

Comics, balls, gliders

PepeLePew · 18/11/2013 21:53

Put something small in a big box - they love it! I've also got cheap fleece blankets from IKEA this year

robertarobbit · 18/11/2013 21:59

Books, magazines, colouring books and crayons, bubble bath, hairbrush, sticker books, giant choc coin, big bags of sweets/marshmallows, water bottle, giant pen/pencils, socks. I'd probably just go to the pound shop and look for some more ideas!

Thanks ladies- poundshop definitely worth a look. DSs are 13 and 8 if you have any more ideas!!

Variety packs of cereal - the whole thing, not just one packet Grin

MorningHasBroken · 18/11/2013 22:16

Books, puzzle books, multipacks of socks and pants, big tube of sweets (or those choc selection packs), pair of gloves or a scarf or hat, cheap DVD... will keep on thinking!

merlin · 18/11/2013 22:17

Like that one Swedish!

I put all the usual stuff in, then wedge an (inflated) ballon in the top. Takes up loads of space! Wink

CakeExpectations · 19/11/2013 06:27

Ballon? balloon

I'm up so early I seem to be turning French...

CakeExpectations · 19/11/2013 06:32

Ballon reminds me though, I've also successfully inserted a cheapy ball in the top some years too.

redcaryellowcar · 19/11/2013 06:45

we used to get a box of tissues asda do ones with characters in them for a s£1. we also used to get one of those ling tubes of smarties which i have seen for £1, and a rolled up magazine wrapped like a cracker? not sure if too big or at all seasonal but a beach towel is perhaps an idea for next year as usually cheap in the sales?

TicTacZebra · 19/11/2013 07:32

A big fat colouring book.

girlywhirly · 19/11/2013 07:48

Packets of popcorn are quite big, or you can get boxes of popcorn to do in the microwave.

... why don't you use shredded paper to fill it out and wrap all the little presents individually.... bit like a lucky dip... and lovely and messy for when you wake up on Christmas morning...

Leeds2 · 19/11/2013 14:10
