Dd is having a nexus tablet so just need a few other things.

So far I have a jacket she liked. Will also be getting clothes and trainers.

She doesn't really like board games, lots of craft stuff from last year not been used.

Looking for a few ideas around the £20 mark.

Mike, my dd's get around 30 gifts too, I think if you can afford it the. There's no harm in spoiling them for 1 day a year, I don't really have a budget ( just buy what I can afford and what I think will get used ), some of the presents I but are under £5 ( craft sets, novelty hat and gloves ) and a few of them may cost around £15-£20 plus a main present ( I think this year it will be a ds game which is £30 ), one of the things dd has asked for is to adopt a snow leopard so I might look into that too.

MikeLitoris · 11/11/2013 13:12

This is why I love mn. My dd would love to adopt an animal. Defo doing that for her.

DD wants a piccolo and a new duvet set with her rugby team logo on but not sure they exist! Also a boot bag, a kit bag for swimming with a compartment for wet costume, new rugby club clothing of pretty much any kind and a new gumshield with her name on. And a riding lesson. And sweets, lots of.

LionelRichieAndTheWardrobe · 11/11/2013 14:06

DS is always banging on about adopting an animal! I'm sending him on a zoo keeper experience day for his birthday in a few weeks. He's going to go loopy with excitement.

BOF · 11/11/2013 19:11

Hair extensions for primary school children? Shock

Good luck combing nits out of those.

Marne · 11/11/2013 19:23

BOF- I wish MN had a like button Smile I agree, 10 is too young for hair extensions but each to their own. I'm pleased my almost 10 year old isn't very mature and doesn't care what she looks like (will wear what ever I put out for her).

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 20:09

much to their disappointment they are strictly for weekends, and holidays not appropriate for school yet!!

we would love ours to be into toys but their just not, also hollister and £110Shock air max are must haves now thanks to their friend's

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 11/11/2013 20:32

Their friend's what?

I'm just giggling, sorry, that human hair is now on xmas wish lists.

santa: and what would you like little girl?
girl: The dead hair of my enemies....Moahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa

insanityscratching · 11/11/2013 20:44

So glad dd seems to have more age appropriate tastes. Dd nor her friends would know about hair extensions nor think to ask for them as they mostly have hair down to their bums anyway. They wouldn't know about Nike Air Max as most are in Clarks and Start rite and are more into tshirts featuring Mario or Minecraft than Hollister.
It seems really sad to me having them grow up so soon.

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 20:44

Grin I am actually laughing at that. It's madness I know but they wanted to dip die their hair and they had no chance. the human hair is better as it can be curled etc so I have been assured by their older cousins. also cost a flipping fortune

Marne · 11/11/2013 21:07

What kind of school do they go too? My dd doesn't even know what Nike air trainers are and doesn't know what hair extensions are ( though she does have hair down to her bum so wouldn't need them ), she got excited when she was allowed to wear glitter body lotion to the School disco last summer Smile, dd spends most of her time playing pokemon and playing maths games on her PC against her friends.

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 21:14

a normal rather small school. to be fair dd1 has size 5.5 feet the choice is more grown up they gave always been in to labels but they get that from me and my mum. they have hair just above their.bum too its to thicken it outHmm and one set is red to add colourHmm .

see my 2 wouldn't play with any of that their into gadgets and make up. thank god for dd3 being 21 months were back into toys

AbiRoad · 11/11/2013 21:33

I actually think 3 must be on a wind up. That is over 1k of stuff each. I don't know anyone who would buy so many things like that for a 10 year old, and I know lots of wealthy people. 3, do they act spoilt? If you did not get nike air max how would they react? How did they get so into their appearance at that age?
I just read your list to DH (who thinks I spend too much on our children as it is) and he asked quite seriously if you are a WAG. Which I think is harsh- who is to say you are not the main earner.

If this is cutting back, do share what the list looked like when they were 4 and 6! And what DC3 is getting.

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 21:43

no wind up Hmm we've spent at last count £600/700 each on them. the way they look is a relatively new thing hence the changed lists feom previous years. I am also not a wag or theain wage earner I am a sahm.

dd3 is getting a kidkraft retro style kitchen, trampoline (already has them as I gpt excited and gave her them early) peppa pig camper van, minnie mouse boutique set, 4 peppa pig sets, tiny tears, talking peppa pig, doc mcstuffins doll, singing sofia the first doll, silver cross pram, doc mcstuffins armchair and toy wagon, lelli kellys, addidas hightops, jacket, onsie, 7 outfits. a castle and a thing you sit and spin on.

Blush omg written down I hadn't realised she had as much and we still have a few odds to pick up.

I always get stick at Christmas on here but we don't get into any debt and for us its what its all about we donate and give away masses of toys in November ever year to make room

littlesquid · 11/11/2013 22:02

How weird, to have stacks of toys come at Christmas and see them fly out again next year like a revolving door to make room for the next lot...

Marne · 11/11/2013 22:08

I think I will read the list to my dh Grin, he's going crazy as I have spent £100-£150 on each of mine. What ever happened to getting one big gift and several smaller things? yes mine get about 30 gifts but most cost £5 or less, I think if mine got that many big things they would not appreciate it, dd2 has only asked for one thing, when I ask her 'what else would you like?' she says 'nothing', if I got her too much she would probably not appreciate the thing she has asked for. My dd's go to a small village school, most of the kids there come from posh/rich families but none of them wear designer gear (though a lot wear riding gear which doesn't come cheap).

Dancergirl · 11/11/2013 22:15

three if you always get stick on here at Christmas, I suggest you don't post on threads like these. You must know you're in a minority.

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 22:22

it doesn't bother me though I am honest and enjoy the ideas on this thread as much as others do. why should I not post because what normal for me isn't for others its a public forum. I wouldn't give someone stick on what the bought their children. at the end of the days it's just as exciting for them no matter the expenditure.

AbiRoad · 11/11/2013 22:23

I just don't see how a 20 month old would appreciate all of that. Would she really appreciate 4 peppa pig sets more than 2? How often does each toy get played with before the nest years stuff arrives? I am honestly shocked. I don't think it is just about not getting into debt, it is about bringing up children to appreciate their things and to begin to understand the value of money and the times we live in. If there are no issues there then fair play.

Marne · 11/11/2013 22:27

Would love to see what Christmas Day is like in your house, can picture children trying to ride box whilst playing a play station, listening to mp3 whilst trying to apply make up and hair extensions Grin. You must have a huge house to put all this shit in? And I can't imagine most of it getting much use before its time to by the next lot.

I showed dh and he said 'troll' Grin but if it is true then it's your choice.

Dancergirl · 11/11/2013 22:27

I'm shocked too but I suspect that's the reaction three wants. I would be seriously worried about an 8 year old being so into her appearance she wants make up and no toys. If that was my child I would think I've gone seriously wrong.

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 22:29

the mess of our toy room daily means most toys are played with a lot, my dds are genuinely the most grateful girls and would be just as happy to receive one large thing and a few odds and ends dh and myself buy alot more on top simply because we love to spoil them, they love every second of it and that makes it worth while.

Dancergirl · 11/11/2013 22:30

three yes it's a public forum but that doesn't mean you can't show a bit of sensitivity to the vast majority of people who either can't afford so many presents or choose not to.

It's the way you say it, can't you see that?

DTisMYdoctor · 11/11/2013 22:32

OP, I bought a 10 year old a mystyle shamballa fire jewellery set from amazon recently - it was a huge hit. About £10/£11 iirc.

ThreeMyselfAndI · 11/11/2013 22:34

no sorry if ive come over bragging im genuinely not thats the horrible part of my personality im very materialistic and can come across smug, im not really. I love Christmas and the threads and all the ideas,

and just because they like make up its not painted on very pale natural colour and weekends in the home only. the enjoy copying you tube makeup tutorials.

arrgh again sorry if I have offended anyone.
