DS will be 15m at Christmas and we have bought:

A wigwam for playing in
A toddler piano (he loves my mum's piano)
A giant teddy bear

Will watch this thread though, as I could do with ideas for smaller things!

FarOverTheRainbow · 07/11/2013 10:40

I've brought her a big tub of mega bloks and the castle to go with it.
A hugging Elmo which is for older children but she will love climbing and cuddling him
And some peppa pig stuff

Our house is full of toys as little DD is the youngest of 3.

At the moment she loves any kind of figures (ours are mainly for older boys but you could try happyland at ELC), a tub of normal coloured bricks, is getting into cars. She loves though plastic books that flash and sing nursery rhymes or whatever, she'll happily sit for ages with those). She loves the toy phones in the house, we have a very toddlerish v tech one and an elc smart phone type and she like both. She loves the toddler trampoline. A 14 month old would probably soon like a ride on toy. I'll soon be getting out the toy pushchair which my DS's absolutely loved as small toddlers.

Loads of stuff basically, its a lovely age.

Hide and squeak eggs are brilliant, they are fun for a long time. My youngest son plays with them at age nine months and my older son at three and a half.

We are getting my youngest a 'frog in a box' (from Amazon) if you search for it on You Tube you can see how babies react to it. I think he is going to love it.

We are also getting a wave drum because he is obsessed with the one at Stay and Play.

attheendoftheendofmytether · 07/11/2013 12:56

Ooh yes Hide and Squeak eggs are very popular here too and a big box of instruments we've amassed over the years

Maryann1975 · 07/11/2013 13:54

My eldest dc is now 7.5, with other dc aged 5 and 3. stuff from baby hood that is still played with include a happy land dolls cottage, a toy piano, the toy kitchen with assorted food, buggys, pop up tent, cars and garage, musical instruments, wooden building blocks. I found it a really easy and lovely age to buy for, there was so much choice and they have no wish lists full of expensive stuff that you just know will be a one day wonder and relegated to a cupboard by Boxing Day.

Enjoy your shopping.

I've also got her the olaymobil zoo which says or ages 1 1/2 so hopefully that will be okay

DD1 was 14 months at Christmas 2 years ago. Loved a my first dolly & pram which she spent hours pushing about & still plays with. my parents got her a playhouse for the garden which is also still very well used.

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 08:20

Splatt we have that and DD loves walking up and doShockn the street with it Grin screams with excitement. My nan wants to get her a proper pram but I think she could still be too young

Happyland is another option though she's only started playing with it properly the last 6 months. We got an ikea kitchen at 18 months which has also been a long lasting success. And at that 2nd Christmas the john Lewis farm and tractor set, again still played with though the noises come out a bit muddled now somehow.

notso · 08/11/2013 09:04

DS3 is 18 months he loves,
Happyland people,
dolls buggy,
The scuttle bug,
The ikea kitchen,
Wooden cakes on a cake stand,
Duplo,
The ELC wooden postbox,
A leap pad iPod type thing it was only about £7 but it's played with every day the songs are now etched in my brain
DS2 is 2.10 and loves all of the above too so they would last a long time.

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 09:46

Thanks not so,
What kind of buggy do you have?

I've already mentioned this on the bargain thread. It's quite a sweet little bath toy, recommended to me by another mumsnetter:-

Tomy Sing and Swim Turtle £5.99

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 10:44

Thanks sunshine I like the look of that

Best things my DS loved at 14 months and still plays with now a year later is a scuttle bug and a shape sorting singing cookie jar.

We also got him a couple of new bath toys (ducks & a boat) which are still looking alright.

notso · 08/11/2013 12:22

It's just the cheap Mothercare cupcake umbrella one. It is surprisingly sturdy, they push each other around in it Hmm
It was hard to find one that wasn't incredibly pink!

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 15:49

It's hard because she's not long had her first birthday and I went a little OTT then Blush she has the cookie sorter and loves it!

I do like the idea of a new
Pram but I'm worries she'll topple over in it if she puts to much weight on the bars

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 15:50

Oh and she has the leapfrog tea pot too Grin

Toys were never this exciting when I was young

See, this pram looks quite robust but it does say from age 2.

pram Millhouse Daisy Dolls Pram Not sure if the handle would be too high for her though.....Sorry, I'm not sure if that's much help AT ALL really!!

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 17:15

That's beautiful jelly! It looks lovely I'm going to try as find the tape measure and see if I can measure the height

jojo maman bebe have a lovely red wooden pram (don't know how to link on IPad) discount code ELK32 would get £10 off it.
DD had a similar one for her second Christmas and it was lovely and sturdy. I know what you mean about her toppling but that phase passes quickly and they quickly learn how to push it carefully.

Tomy Hide 'n' Squeak Eggs £2.99

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/11/2013 20:44

That's a great price for them
Milk just need to find something to add them on too

DD3 is 18 months and she loves her hide and squeak eggs! Got those for Easter this year. For Xmas I have bought lots of interesting books with lift the flaps, touch and feel that type of thing.
We never bought one of those little tikes cars for our first two DD's but DD3 absolutely loves them whenever we go anywhere and they are there. Also the two older DD's will now be able to push her around in it hehehe so decided to buy it as her big present.
I also got some little figures of her favourite characters as she seems to enjoy playing with things like that. Toy Story people and In The Night Garden.
I found a little indoor/outdoor tent for £12 on amazon I chose sylvanian families as the older two love them too. It isn't a pop up one as I don't get along with them at all- can never fold them back up! My friends all manage fine so it's obviously me! This one has four poles but it's so easy to stick together in minutes and has a ground sheet as I find the ones without a floor are prone to toppling over.
