Have got Christmas quilt covers for dc for last couple of years - they go on, on 1st December and the excitement builds from there, they love them (and I do whip them off and wash them occasionally over the course of the month).

Just opened Wally's link and am horrified - both by the contents and the fact that "friend" got me something similar last year Shock - have no idea where I managed to lose that, but I did and obviously very successfully blocked the whole incident. How am I going to explain that one away should she come around at Christmas??!

Just quickly buy whatever you need from the link and look innocent Grin

Im buying Christmas duvet covers this year! Dd has got a throw as her bed is a cot bed. Mind you, I also have Santa hat chair covers for my dining chairs and special Christmas plates. We have decorations in every room. Christmas towels in the bathroom. Snowman toilet paper. It is a little ott, and, I admit, is completely cheesy, but my dh and dd love it.

Oh gosh, if almost be tempted by winter bedding (stags/snowflakes fine but no Father Christmas!) but that "peach feel" microfibre is horrendous. So cheap and thin. DMIL bought us a duvet like that a couple of years back and after one night we charity shopped it.

You are all on glue! Grin Actually, I do like the look of the Nordic knitted snowflake duvet sets. And they're wintry rather than christmasy. But no. No no no. That way lies the Dark Side. I'd have to get autumnal bed linen too. And springy stuff.
DS1 does have a Christmassy quilt on his bed for most of winter December. My mum made it, and it has lots of snowmen doing different things - snowman in space, snowman throwing snowballs, snowman having a barbeque and melting slightly ... it is fab.

Wish i was on glue - have been haunted by the image of that toilet seat since yesterday. And the fear of what I might get this year. And plotting what I can inflict on get her Grin

No, not glue. We are all high on the pine scented aura of Christmas. GrinGrinGrin

I like to think the Christmas threads are a safe corner where we full on "Christmasists" can emerge from behind our lametta curtained closets and family of 6ft high inflatable lawn snowmen families and be loud and proud....

Not only a safe haven Wally , the organised "Christmasists" Grin can plan, spend money over a period of time and enjoy it all.

Not be running about on the 21st Dec shrieking "I've got too much to do ".

Or (sadly I think) looking back after and saying "I wish I'd done more".

It's the little things that make the biggest difference IMO.

Christmas Traditions
And yes, Christmas Bedding
Christmas handtowels
L'Occitane Orange and Cinnamon soap
Yankee Candles
All my nice crockery collected over the years.

That's the things my DC remember when they talk about Christmas Smile

Ah 70, you truly are a kindred Christmas spirit. Wink

I have amassed quite a bit of seasonal stuff over the years - I am 42 after all! But everything has history and meaning. I buy quality items that last and that i can pass on one day. I love unpacking our ornaments each year, and ds and I rediscovering everything.

As a child I used together excited about all of it, it was more than just gifts.

And you are right....it's all in the planning. Never failed yet, and I spend December enjoying the season - Christmas markets, Theme parks, entertaining friends, concerts, and playing in the snow etc rather than being a headless chicken...

I unashamedly, unapologetically LOVE this season!

Aw, blast it, it's adorable!! But neither of my dcs like duvets - they struggle with them. I need to do a search for Christmas sheets instead I think.

I bought duvet sets for DS and DD this year that will go on their beds Dec 1st. They still have their fleeces but they can go ontop of their bedding when they finish school (which IIRC is the Friday before Christmas)

We have Christmas covers! ds has Santa ones from next.. this will be their 3rd outing. we have a lovely red fairisle one also on its 3rd outing. DD has a Christmas blanket with her in her cot. (as cotbed ones were either hard to find or visit.expensive)

they go on early Dec and stay till the tree comes down (apart from washing) they're stored away with all the other Christmas stuff, stocking and sacks etc.

I also have a 'christmas dresser' where all my regular things get packed away and my Christmas things (crockery/photos/Christmas figures etc) gets displayed.

decorating for Christmas is not just about the tree!!

I bought some for DS this year. He turns 18 in December, and so I want to do a Super Christmas to mark the end of his childhood! Dancing snowmen would have been rejected so I got a red alpine design set from eBay.

LynetteScavo What do you think to christmas blankets/throws on beds and sofas? Do you think they look tacky too?

Report
LynetteScavo · 20/10/2014 18:35

nappyaddict, I have to admit by being very tempted boy some Christmas cushions this year....but only because they are really nice and could be used all year round, but you wouldn't find them in the shops in spring, and would go with the rest of the room.

I really like stag/deer designs, and tartan can be good all year round, but Christmassy at the same time.

I guess it depends on the blanket/throw, tbh.

But I still wouldn't want to buy a quality item and then only use it for a a short time. Because I'm tight like that. Grin

I quite like this

and this And might get if for my lodge in Norway, if I had one.

But I will always be a boring plain white duvet person at heart.

LS Would you buy a cushion, throw, blanket or bed set with a snowman or snowflake on? so more winter themed so that it could be used for a whole season rather than Christmas themed that could ony be used for a month?

I think I have seen polar bears too.
