Christmas

Do you have a nice nativity scene in your house at Christmas? If so, where did you get it?!

Just that really! I'd like to get one this year, can't afford to spend lots but don't want cardboard cut outs either! Looked on eBay but lots of rare/vintage type stuff, all too pricey. Thanks!

I have loads (collect them Smile) and I get them from anywhere. Sometimes even the cheapy poundland type shops have them, charity shops another good bet.

Ooh I love that German one. Strange it is in English though.

We have a Willow Tree one, but this year I have decided to get a Playmobil one instead as last year I was terrified it would get broken.

The Willow Tree one will come out again in about 10 years. One day I will have the wise men to match.

The only downside to the playmobil is that you have to buy the wise men separately....it is fab though.

I have a lovely crystal one, handed down from my grandmother.

I have a nice simple wooden one from Oxfam. It can't have been pricey or I wouldn't have bought it. Also have a wooden advent calendar from Lakeland where you take out a character each day and build the nativity. Ok there are more sheep and camels than strictly necessary but it's cute and DS loves it.

That sounds fab, celtic. Must see if they still have them.

Blimey not cheap! My DS had it as a gift from a family friend. I think we'll keep it forever though.

I have a lovely one I got at Salisbury Cathedral about 25 years ago which I guess was quite expensive relatively speaking at the time.

I also have a couple of small ethnic ones I got from Tearcraft. Not sure if they are still in operation as I got them a few years ago at a church I attended

Cheers, Celtic. No, it's not, is it? Shock. Beautiful, though. I'm really tempted.

I was going to recommend Traidcraft, which Tommy has already linked to.

I have a resin one we bought at our local garden centre, it is hardy enough for the children to touch, but we discourage playing with it.

I have a Balsa wood cut out hanging one, 2 beautiful glass ones to go on the Christmas tree, one is in a globe, the other in a stable shape.

We also have a knitted set which we put in an unused fireplace (Santa's favourite chimney Halloween Wink ) and DD2 seems to think it is hers - cue many shouts of "muummmmmm she's run off with a sheep agaaaaaaaaainnnnnnn" Halloween Grin

I need, that is the one we have that I mentioned earlier. It is lovely. Keep an eye for it coming back, it's worth it!
