Kids Christmas Confectionery but not in a tube.....

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 21:02

I've bought all my great nephews and nieces some pyjamas for Christmas. I usually stick a tube of sweeties in with their gifts as the tubes (smarties, jelly tots etc) are usually on offer at a pound each.

I don't want to spend much more than that as I have a fair few to get, but want something that isn't in a tube as they are a pain in arse to wrap and post. I don't want selection boxes either.

Anyone got any good suggestions? Kids range from just turned 1 to age 10. So either needs to be something suitable, or something with an option for older or younger kids or if anyone has a cheap deal on something non confectionery for the under 2s that would be fab too :)

Just want to get it all wrapped up now.

Not very helpful but my local newsagents had a very nice The Snowman selection box type thing.
They had it for £1 a box.

You might be able to find that somewhere?

girlsyearapart · 19/10/2013 21:09

It wasn't an actual selection box just chocolates in a flat cardboard box with the scene on the front

BooItTooJulia · 19/10/2013 21:11

I bought a dip dab thing in a tin the other day. £2. I think I got it from asda. They had a few different things like that.

iheartdusty · 19/10/2013 21:14

bags of chocolate coins? Try Wilkinsons or most supermarkets. They also have Thorntons bags for £1 each.

classic Christmas fare IMO.

or chocolate Santas, etc.

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 21:16

thanks, those all sound good, I was wondering if there was anything a bit different that I was maybe missing though....

Big bag of Haribo? Not especially Christmassy but probably appreciated as much as chocolate coins.

WitchOfEndor · 19/10/2013 21:20

They have large chocolate santas in Aldi for about a pound, the chocolate is really nice ( you would have to wrap them carefully though).

Otherwise have you looked at the range in BHS? They have traditional sweet shop sweets ( but quite big packs to expensive to post)

onepieceoflollipop · 19/10/2013 21:26

I spotted some m&s chocolate "sprouts" , in a little net like chocolate coins iykwim. about £2 I think. Would make the older dcs laugh maybe!

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 21:26

There might be more about once Halloween is out the way now that I think about it........need to curb the urge to wrap and post for a few weeks maybe :o

They have other small ish options too.

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 21:27

Never tried Aldi chocolate, might we worth a look and I like the thought of chocolate sprouts :)

Yes witch the cost of post is definitely a thought. I have 10 to post but at least a few are to the same addresses.

Lindt do lovely little "strips" of mini bears, santas, etc. they're usually about £2 so a little more expensive but they are gorgeous and pretty flat.

I'll try to find them.

LadyBigtoes · 19/10/2013 21:58

Chocolate tree decorations might be good, if you get flat shaped ones not the hollow ones. There are usually bags of them in supermarkets.

RhondaJean · 19/10/2013 21:59

Here are the bears. They do different ones, there used to be a sleigh with Santa and the reindeer.

You might get them on 2 for £3 in tesco/Asda at some point.

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 22:07

Rhonda, yes, I've seen those before, I'm sure Santa has put them in the boys' stockings before Wink

If they were on a deal then that'd be the one to go for.

Does it need to be chocolates? B&m does a duo pack of christmas bubble bath shaped as snowmen, £2 for 2 bottles - good size and very Christmassy! Go more with pjs I think than chocolate...though may be heavier?

Tommy · 19/10/2013 23:25

last year I found personalised chocolates in Haskins - it was a slim packet with separate little flat bars of choc each with a letter on - you make them up as you need them and put picture ones in if you need to fill up the gaps. I found them in the shop in Centerparcs this summer too. They would be easy to post. Will try and find them online

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 23:32

that sounds good Tommy , though never heard of Haskins.....It's personalised pj's that I got then so that would be a good extra.

Nope, it doesn't have to be chocolate jam but as you say, bubble bath can be heavy to post and I'm not sure if any have skin sensitivity issues. My own boy's are 12 and 13 this year so this will be the first "toy free" Christmas for a long time....so I am not going near toys for other people's children either. I'm sure I may go back to toys again next year :) It's just difficult when you don't really see them to know what they are into.

just realised that Haskins is a small local chain - Sorry! Try the link from Not on the High Street

soontobeslendergirl · 19/10/2013 23:43

Aww those look really god, but comes in at £60 as I need 12 (10 to post plus 2 local) the tubes only cost a pound each :(

We have a big family, these are just the great nephews and nieces, we don't buy for adults but still have another 6 nephews and 4 nieces to get for too that are still young enough to be on the present list.

Asda have bags of christmas tree marshmallows?

insanityscratching · 20/10/2013 09:07

Poundland are selling big Toblerones or maybe you could buy personalised bars from here By having Merry Christmas love from Auntie instead of individual names you could save some money.

raisah · 20/10/2013 10:12

M&S do a pack of four choc lollies with santa, snowman faces for about a £1.
