I love wrapping presents and usually go for bright paper with lots of ribbons and bows but I'm struggling to find any I really love. What paper are you using? What do you use to decorate your presents?

not sure really, i have a suspicion it will be red green and gold plain paper with lots of pretty ribbons this year, thinking of going for a traditional christmas

ZingWantsCake · 04/10/2013 11:19

whatever we have leftover from previous Christmases

chicaguapa · 04/10/2013 11:24

I don't know yet. Thinking brown paper with thick proper ribbon or using with same coloured paper & ribbon, ie red and red, but will need to buy in person to make sure the colours match.

Leviticus · 04/10/2013 11:24

Brown paper and coloured shimmery organza ribbon. I've done this the last couple of years and it saves a lot of money and storage space.

PeerMon · 04/10/2013 11:27

Brown paper (£1 per roll) stamped all over with christmas stamps and ink. Because it can be recycled.

chicaguapa · 04/10/2013 11:27

Sounds nice! Where do you get your ribbon from?

PeerMon · 04/10/2013 11:29

Sorry, I don't seem to be making much sense (in bed ill) I mean like this but without the pompoms, 4th photo down theproperpinwheel.com/2012/12/giftwrap-galore-tissue-fringe-reindeer-pom-poms-downloadable-tags-more/

I am using all the odds and sods this year. We have many rolls of bits. Once that's gone we will be using wallpaper (lining paper so very cheap and thin enough) and nice ribbon. I may even get the kids to decorate it somehow. At about £2 for 20metres it should save loads.

sweetsomethings · 04/10/2013 11:55

I will be using Aldi paper this year its cheap and really thick.

mumtoone1 · 04/10/2013 12:05

I quite like Primarks paper. They normally do one that has quite old fashioned traditional themes on them.

My christmas decor is always vintage looking, so the paper always has to go with that. I normally then wrap with curling ribbon and a nice tag.

Wrap for DS is normally from Poundland or somewhere I can buy in bulk :)

IsaacCox · 04/10/2013 12:08

Brown paper with either ribbon or string (I'm thinking of colouring it red or something...) I'm thinking of possibly making these edible tags.

sparkle12mar08 · 04/10/2013 12:11

Whatever is in the cupboard, or whatever I can buy cheapest if we've run out. It only gets ripped off anyway.

craftynclothy · 04/10/2013 12:21

Shock You people using brown paper, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I so wanted to do that and ended up going for the budget silver 50p for a 10m roll option instead Hmm

Hazelbrowneyes · 04/10/2013 12:56

I've just had a look on Pinterest. I'm not the most creative of people but I love some of the ideas on there. I love brown paper with lace. I usually go for bright paper to match my tree but we're not having Christmas at home this year so may I go a bit different and have brown paper. Hmm, lots to think about! I think gift wrapping has to be my favourite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon with Elf on the TV Grin

Whatever is left over from last year! (but I have bought some brown paper and red gingham ribbon for grown up presents that I want to look stylish)

Last year, I stole the idea of different wrapping paper for each DC though to save on gift tagging everything and it was brilliant - definitely doing that again!

ananikifo · 04/10/2013 13:19

The same 2 rolls of Costco reversible paper we used for the last two years, and I don't think we'll use it up this year either!

whatshallwedo · 04/10/2013 13:26

I'm also using Aldi paper as it's not only thick but it has a grid on the back so you can cut it neatly.

PedantMarina · 04/10/2013 14:13

Ahem. Am about to out myself as the Yule anal that I am...

We have three different kinds of wrap:

Yule wrap for the presents Father Odin brings us on 21st December. This is usually permutations of green/purple/gold. (this year I have my eye on a huge roll of gorgeous embossed green paper from Costco - that'll last for years!)

Normal Christmas wrap for presents that Father Christmas (Father Odin's fatter, more-commercial colleague) doesn't bring, i.e. presents to each other, extended family and friends, etc. This tends to be a colour and style theme per year, usually reds, greens, golds, tartans.

Father Christmas wrap In past years, whenever I bought too much (and I always do) esp of anything "child-like", the surplus would be saved up in the loft or garage to donate to Father Christmas' workshop.

cringes and waits for the scorn

PedantMarina · 04/10/2013 14:19

Ooh! That link looks nice. I like the tags

starts looking for retro clipart

CoolStoryBro · 04/10/2013 14:22

I love that reindeer with Pom Pom noses! I'm so doing that, even if it means all the Pom poms will have fallen off when they're air mailed.

MrsBungle · 04/10/2013 14:24

Issac - those edible tags look brill, I've just pinned then to my board!

WaitingForMe · 04/10/2013 15:38

As of reading this thread I'm doing reindeer with pompom noses!

attheendoftheday · 04/10/2013 17:18

Maria I love that you do presents from Odin! I'd like to recognise Yule more in our family-friendly.

I'll be wrapping in brown paper too, with ribbon and butcher's twine. I'd like to get some festive stamps to try out a few things I've seen on pintrest.

I love the pompom deer too!

attheendoftheday · 04/10/2013 17:19

Marina not Maria.
