Wine, chocolate and telly. Sometimes DPs sis comes round. We've seven adults and two kids for lunch this year so will want to collapse in a heap.

Board games. I refuse to put the telly on and make DH play stupid games to avoid it, like the one where you stick a persons name on a post it note and stick it to each others heads and then have to guess Xmas Grin He sees no issue with sticking the telly on when DC have gone to bed but I just like that one day to have no tv. Preferably no phones either but MIL has to ring in the morning because she lives half way across the world and misses us on Christmas day.

RyleDup · 18/12/2012 01:21

Friends round. Kids hopefully asleep. Fizz, snacks and laughter.

LineRunner · 18/12/2012 01:34

Doctor Who and Downton Abbey, with DS and DD respectively, ooohing and aaahing over how great it all is. Xmas Grin

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 18/12/2012 01:43

Drink champagne and pack to go to Bali on Boxing Day.

arghhhmiddleage · 18/12/2012 01:49

Slump and wine

butterfliesinmytummy · 18/12/2012 01:59

Normally have 40 or so people round for lots of wine and buffet food ... Then go out for lunch the next day

butterfliesinmytummy · 18/12/2012 05:01

Can't read obviously, Christmas Eve night is party time, Christmas Day night is collapse on the sofa time

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2012 05:07

If we have other family members over we play games, chat, sing, drink etc.

If it's just us and our kids then we watch a nice film while they go to opposite ends of the house and Facebook and text their friends and watch youtube, so a normal night then.

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2012 05:08

Oh hang on, do you mean Christmas Day night, or Christmas Eve?

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2012 05:11

You mean Christmas Eve. I see that now. I usually have a very busy buy happy day of food prep and wrapping, and everyone else around me just carries on as usual. Hmm We try to all be in and all having a nice, special, festive but easy and stress-free dinner together, like a fondue. I am always happy on Christmas Eve. It's all the anticipation!

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2012 05:13

Yes, sometimes have friends over for a drink but can't be anything too hardcore. Although my kids don't get up until about midday these days anyway.

We have reached that stage were DH and I are the ones trying to shake them awake because we are bored and excited. Grin

poachedeggs · 18/12/2012 06:06

Christmas eve: get children to bed (may involve big sticks, staple guns and chemical restraint) then run round like a mad thing hoovering and clearing up, then collapse with wine.

Christmas day: get children to bed (unlikely to be any resistance whatsoever), then prepare to spend evening eating nuts, cheese, mince pies and drinking more wine. Bliss.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 18/12/2012 07:22

Christmas Eve: Just chill out tbh. Normally have a "kitchen supper" type thing (chili/ fish pie etc) if anyone can be bothered to cook, or fish and chips if they can't, with whoever is there or wants to come over and some wine/beers.

I boot everyone out by 10 though.

StNiChaolas · 18/12/2012 07:57

Not Christmas Eve, you doilies!

The night of the day that was Christmas Day!
