How much is your turkey costing?

I am buying for our whole (my side) family Christmas dinner, and have been Shock at the cost of turkeys. Admittedly, I would only buy a free-range one, so have to expect to pay a premium, but I had no idea turkey was such an expensive bird compared to other meats.

How much is yours costing and how many are you hoping to feed?

Sorry to say but you do know the Aldi 4 bird roast has had horrendous reviews? Just don't wat to ruin your lunch if you hadn't heard.

We are getting a 8 kg turkey from our village butcher and it is going to cost £75 approx.

We will be having a free range chicken from the butcher, a 5lb one will give 8 adult portions and will be around 22 quid. (Although it is just for DH and I and so will do us 4 meals each!)

A good trick to make the meat go further is to cook larger sausages with it, instead of tiny pigs in blankets, especially for adults.

About £50, but we're getting it fresh from the butcher and it will be easier on me to cook. I don't do frozen turkeys anymore after a disaster one year, that involved desperately bathing the turkey in water on the day to get the ice chunks out, and then later sawing off the legs and sticking them in the microwave.

Mine is £40.00 to feed six adults and three DC from a local farm. I was taken to see them by the farmer and they all came running over to say hello - I really wish I hadn't seen them!
