oooo £4.99 postage, mmmmm. mwahhhhh

Piemistress · 15/12/2012 20:23

Oh that's mean. When you click add to basket it says OOS! :(

Piemistress · 15/12/2012 20:24

The OOS was refering to Smyths. Will phone my nearest big Tesco tomorrow! Am in NE Scotland, don't think there are any BM Stores near me :(

Prizepudding · 15/12/2012 20:30

Piemistress, if you have no joy with Tesco and it is the one shown in the picture for b and m, I may be able to send for cost plus p and p if they still have it in stock. I'm central Scotland and am coming up to Fife tomorrow, I take it you are further north? I know there is now a b and m in Dundee again.

chaosisawayoflife · 15/12/2012 21:41

I've had a skim and can't see this posted yet, apologies if I missed it. m&m direct have got some fantastic deals on London 2012 merchandise. Also free delivery if you spend over £20 with code xs25.

ComeAlongPond · 15/12/2012 23:06

Sorry this is really late but if anyone's still up and has a nectar card the daily deal from nectar today is a Nintendo 3DS for £269 instead of £319 and 538 nectar points. It comes with Mario Kart, Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Fifa 13, Lego Batman 2, and Lego Lord of the Rings. Then another free game if you register it. Free delivery in time for Christmas but it's only on until midnight I think.

They also have £200 off a photography course (making it £49), an android tablet for £90 down from £300 and a coffee machine for £67 instead of £150, among other things, though some run out at midnight and I think you have to have a nectar card to be able to buy them.

loflo · 15/12/2012 23:29

Pie mistress try here www.oneclickpharmacy.co.uk they appear to have stock Smile

BringUsSomePigleyPudding · 16/12/2012 09:07

YankeeDoodle and Yankedirect are other good places to look for candles :)

Matalan code- IDSUNGFT gives £5 off £15. Just ordered myself a nice glittery jumper for xmas :)

Piemistress · 16/12/2012 13:42

Thank you for offering to go out of your way for me prize, I am in Aberdeen! loflo I found that website late last night and saw they had them in stock, I have just phoned round all my local toy shops and found one in stock in Mothercare! (although OOS online!) and even better I have got a giftcard from when DD was born :) It's a pig of a drive to get there but at least I have found one and it won't really have cost me anything :)

ComeAlongPond · 16/12/2012 14:28

Is the AUTUMN5 code still the best one about for Uniqlo if spending under £60 (by 10p, grr...) I want to buy this coat (also, I'm torn between red and blue, so someone please decide for me).

ComeAlongPond · 16/12/2012 14:30

Oh boo, it's expired. Any others?

ComeAlongPond · 16/12/2012 14:51

Also, I'm sorry for never posting in one post on this thread but I seem to remember someone looking for transformers? Here for a day have this bumble bee rescue garage for 11.99 (instead of 29.99) - no idea at all about transformers but it may be worth a look. They've got loads of toys here, hot wheels and remote control helicopters and the like. Some littlest pet shop stuff too.

loflo · 16/12/2012 15:24

Glad you found one Piemistress - I'm in the NE Scotland too - god bless Amazon cos the shops round my way are guff! Was just in my local tesco and they have two Scouts in stock so shout if you're stuck.

Looby12 · 16/12/2012 16:29

.

reastie · 16/12/2012 18:17

come personally I'd go with the blue coat. The red one looks really nice IMO, but I've been put off red coats forever after DH calling me Father Christmas everytime I used to wear my old red one Blush (could be that I have a big tum though luckily no beard yet ) Wink

OnlyGirlinmyHouse my parents and another couple of their friends have an annual 'guess what this gadget is' competition each year - used to be given on Christmas Eve when they came over to our house for dinner, had to be guessed by New Years Eve - when we went to their house for the evening. Answers were then revealed if it hadn't been guessed correctly.

However, rather than the most useful gadget as your dm has suggested, their competition was for the most unusual /weird and wonderful gadget, which lays itself open to all sorts of amazing gadgetery. Has to be a gadget related to the kitchen or eating, that's the only rule. I can highly recommend it as a fun thing to do over the years as it gets a life of it's own.

As a result both sides now have in the region of 40 gadgets each (it's been going on a long time!) and so far there hasn't been a repeat. It's also provided a lot of fun along the way and has turned into such a tradition that we are all on the look out for gadgets throughout the year... I managed to find this year's one - a hook specially designed for pulling oven shelves out of the oven when the oven is on. Grin

Did I mention that over the years as it gets more difficult to find something new, they get more and more niche. Early things like the pineapple corer, the strawberry huller, the thing to get the core out of tomatoes, the hooks to hold down table cloths outside and the egg poaching pods are now standards of the Lakeland catalogue. Many of them are fairly cheap, there's the odd thing that's more expensive that's slipped in but there are definitely things out there if you look. TK Maxx often has some good things in. Foreign holidays where they have dedicated gadgets for cooking things that you don't typically cook here are good too.

The ones that stand out are the stirrer for hot chocolate, the screw twist for sewing up a turkey's neck at christmas to stop the stuffing falling out, the tortilla flipper, and the automated lolly rotator. However the best of the lot for being the most useless amazing gadget is the cubed hard boiled egg maker. Allegedly so that you can compress your hard boiled egg once you've boiled and shelled it into a little cube so that when you slice it, it fits nicely into a sandwich on rectangular bread or so it doesn't roll around plates Hmm. (also quite fun to pretend that you have a chicken that lays square eggs Grin)

Despite the fact that this was given to us over 20 years ago, I've just had a look and am pleased to report they are still available today Grin
egg cubers on Amazon - a snip at £5.15!

Procrastinating · 16/12/2012 18:19

Not exactly Christmas but the boden sale has started.

I couldn't get any codes to work though.

OnlyGirlinmyHouse · 16/12/2012 19:41

Thank you for all the gadget ideas. I love the twirling pasta fork & zipzap thanks for the egg cuber, what a strange gadget!

There is a competition on a Facebook page to win some moshi monster headphones, just have to like the picture and say which character you would like - here

Piemistress · 16/12/2012 20:37

That gadget game sounds brilliant fun!

loflo thanks so much! I am aiming to get to mothercare tomorrow so will let you know if it falls apart! I live south of the city (just in case you do too!)

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 16/12/2012 22:58

Not online, but I did notice that the Gup X (Octonauts) was on offer in our Sainsburys today at 25% off (something like £23 I think). They didn't have any in during their normal toy sale, so it was a bit of a bargain.

zipzap · 16/12/2012 23:23

greggs if you're still looking for transformers - they had proper transforming transformers at half price in Toys R Us today - not sure about big ones but certainly the ones that are normally £15, £10 and £7 were all down to half price. They were in the entrance area that's full of bargains in the Toys R Us I was in. if you wanted to spend £15 you could get a couple of reasonable sized ones that would be a bit smaller than a sindy doll (ok so showing my age here) but a good size for little boy hands to hold and play with in a similar sort of way, especially if you have a couple of them (as opposed to going for one of the really big ones that would be more akin to having a big dress up doll or baby sized baby doll).

Had a quick look online and couldn't see if they had any on offer or not, but doing a search for transformers sends you to one of those silly product pages with big pictures of different classes of of transformer and you have to search through each one, no nice easy quick list of all the ones available or even a link to all the ones that are in the sale!

LaTrucha · 17/12/2012 07:41

Amazon has lightning deals again today, including Monty Python and Downton boxsets. They're not live yet, so I don't know how much.
