I've always ordered loads from L'Occitane and never had a problem-always comes beautifully packaged, loads of free samples chucked in, free giftwrapping and lovely special offers.....mind you, I've never had a leaky bottle I've had to complain about so luck of the draw I suppose!

Argos on the other hand will never have my £££ again after them cancelling my order 2 years ago seemingly because they felt like it but then making me wait about 15 days for my money back!

Thorntons also good customer service- I did get smashed santas in my hamper but I just emailed and they sent replacements on one day delivery.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 13/12/2012 11:45

On the subject of L'Occitane: ineeded an eye cream and saw theirs recommended on a thread here. Spent £29 on the balm, got a sample of the £49 one (forget what they're both called), and instantly had sore, weepy eyes from each of them. Very disappointing - could have had the same result (and have) from a £2.99 pot of vitamin e cream.

MistressIggi · 13/12/2012 11:52

God I hope the stylish friend I've given an Orla scarf too doesn't think it's naff Sad

tinselahohoho · 13/12/2012 12:20

You'll be fine MistressIggi - my problem is that I'm not stylish to start with!

HoHoHokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 13/12/2012 12:23

Oh i thought they were lovely mistress and my dsis was very pleased with hers.

tinsel I did order a variety and so returned some to a shop and they were fine, refunded no problem.

You have to pay postage to return otherwise.

WineGless · 13/12/2012 12:35

I would highly recommend L'occitaine- never has any problem with products or delivery.
I love the Orla Kiely scarf and hoping my recipients will too

tinselahohoho · 13/12/2012 12:50

Really sorry if I offended anyone about the scarves - I probably just chose the wrong patterns and I really have no fashion sense at all. Blush

Lalou · 13/12/2012 13:25

iloveblue thank you for the Identity Direct code, I was just about to order a load of labels!

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 13/12/2012 13:59

Oh, I LOVE l'occtaine stuff, esp the hand cream. I drag dh in there sometimes to point out what I want need.

mercibucket · 13/12/2012 14:16

Playmobil pyramid now down to 31.99 at toysrus, plus 5 percent cashback from topcashback

I've started next year's birthday present shopping!

RockingAroundTheBloodyXmasTree · 13/12/2012 14:21

any recent codes for the book people? thanks

reastie · 13/12/2012 14:25

ANother L'occiatine lover here, I've even been to their factory in France Blush . The only problem I ever had with them was a battered box from a hand cream which I bought for a gift - they sent me a new one and said I could keep the battered box one for myself Grin so no complaints here.

I also really liked the OK scarves I bought - they are good quality for less than £10 and lovely patterns. I'm hoping my recipients for the scarves won't think they're rubbish though Hmm

MacaroniAndWalnut · 13/12/2012 14:41

Thanks oreo I was inputting the code incorrectly

I love l'occitane stuff. Their hand cream is te only thing that helps my exceedingly chapped hands. Even dp uses it now and he's a rough, manual working type

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 13/12/2012 15:24

oh, their rose hand cream is just gorgeous, I love it all.

neals yard stuff is lovely too, I use their wild rose moisturiser and its seriously the best thing I have ever tried. and Ive used a lot of different types.

MustafaCake · 13/12/2012 16:39

Just picked up that Fisher Price Ark that Oreo linked to earlier.

It is absolutely brilliant. Big with lots of pieces, I can't believe it was only £14.99!

Many thanks Thanks

zipzap · 13/12/2012 16:56

Bit late for this year but Tesco have the Star Wars Advent Calendar for £14.99 instead of the £20+ it was previously. You can use double points if you have already exchanged them (but can't change any more unfortunately).

zipzap · 13/12/2012 17:01

Another Debenhams secret santa code for 10% off - VJ36

MistressIggi · 13/12/2012 18:44

Tinsel - Grin
I bet in a parallel universe there'll be post-Christmas threads with women going " why did I get so much Molton Brown stuff this year? And all those digital keyrings? And oddly-patterned scarves? I just wanted a box of quality street.."

OodKingWenceslas · 13/12/2012 19:25

Tomorrows Boots offer is soap & glory £60 to £27

Chockywockydoodah · 13/12/2012 20:21

I bought two of the Orla scarves for myself and love love love them! Really pleased to have them and for that price!!

Bought DD the Happyland bakery in Sainsburys today reduced from £14.99 to £9.99 which is great as she's been after it for ages!

Kelly281 · 13/12/2012 20:26

Unsure if this has been posted already, might be good useful for someone? Currently on Boots this Estée Lauder Giftset, apparently worth £250 is available for £50, when you purchase any Estée Lauder fragrance.

Seems like a great deal, but unfortunately would be wasted on me!

Oreocrumbs · 13/12/2012 21:04

Mustafa the ark is fab. DD is the 4th child on our hand me down circuit to have hers and will be the last thanks to one of my dogs developing a taste for plastic animals, and it had lasted so well!

Amazon Purple crock pot 3.5l £19.99. 'Tis purrrdy Xmas Smile

Penguinbeaver · 13/12/2012 21:07

Greggs don't know too much about transformers but saw this down from £65 to £19.99 for 4 transformers, looked like a good deal transformers

zipzap · 13/12/2012 23:06

Penguinbeaver and greggs - beware the Kreo tansformers... They are effectively lego (albeit kreo branded rather than actual lego but all compatible I believe) that you can make up into either version of the transformers.

BUT once you've made it, you can't then clickety clackety it back into the other version of the same transformer, you need to take it to pieces and then rebuild it from the same bits. Which for some kids is fine as they love doing that sort of thing. But if you have a kid that is desperate for a clickety clackety magic thingamabobby transformer that they can whizz from one version to another then you will end up with a very disappointed child. [take it from one who has learnt the hard way. And trodden on the stupid bits that seem to fall off and lie in wait for bare feet as retribution]

In store the Toyshop/Entertainer often has the cheaper transformers for 1/3 or half off, or buy one get one free, but they don't seem to have many of those deals online. I don't know much about them or what you want to spend greggs, but if you could get to a store, rather than getting one big one, you could get two or three smaller ones, so that they can be played with together, according to ds1 (7) this is more fun than having one big one as it means they can have adventures and battles together (one way to sell the present to its recipient!)

Anni37 · 14/12/2012 00:23

great post thanks! i wonder though sometimes whether the original price was just hiked up to offer a tempting discount later... Anyway I like the whole 'recycling' thing, so I just picked up a new scooter from kidslocal.co.uk - real bargain too and looks completely new so this one will go down well Christmas morning! It's a great site I'm going to list some stuff on there myself soon as I get a chance to have a good sort out - maybe get xmas out the way first though!
