Secret Santa has not worked out well for me....:(

I suggested a secret Santa this year for my family.
It did take my sis and I about 3 days to explain it to my mum but I think she has the idea now :)
Anyway, the only person no one wanted to get was my bil.
Guess who got him? :(
He is a nightmare to buy for.
He is very wealthy, anything he wants he can get himself, no hobbies other than golf. In past years I have gotten him gifts and been told I buy "random" gifts...? I always try and buy people things they will like and or find useful. Lat year I got him some nice cuff links as he wears them for work.
He is a twat Not very outgoing or one to make much of an effort for others.
Spending limit of £20.
Wtf am I going to get him?

A couple of bottles of nice wine. Or one bottle of very nice wine! Assuming that he appreciates wine, that is. If you go into a decent wine merchant they will advise you happily.

I think you need to stop caring. People who are hard to buy presents for shouldn't complain.

Wine glasses? Decanter? app voucher for itunes?

When all else fails go for humour. A golf hat or over the knee socks.

Amazon vouchers? Goat?

Choose a selection of items from a golf shop or golf section of sports shop to the value specified. A bag for his golf shoes, pencils for his score card, a golf towel that clips to his golf bag etc. Not random at all, and who cares whether he uses them the ungrateful so and so. Don't lose sleep over it or spend ages trying to choose.

You can't go wrong with wine for an awkward BIL.... and £20 is enough to get a very nice bottle.

Or you could get him a tie pin to match the cufflinks if he liked those last year....

A funny book?

A polo shirt?

A bottle of port?

I once got a golf ball suck up tube thing as a bit of a joke for friends golf mad dh. It was his favourite present & much less than £20. It's amazing the crap golfers like!

Bottle of 'nice but slightly special/unusual' spirits. Either the Ketel One vodka or the Zubrowka from here . Or the CHairman's Reserve Rum if you want to spend 50p more.

I like the idea of golf stuff but thought it was all really expensive? Will have a look out for golf related stuff....

As someone whose DH is a golf fanatic, I'd advise against 'jokey' golf gifts. (they take themselves h'ever so seriously, y'know! ). DH says that golf gloves, pins, markers are all acceptable (you can even get them in Tesco's) or better still, find out the name of the golf balls your BIL favours and get a box of those.

(Wrt the gloves, btw- you only get one in a packet. This is correct, apparently )

Oh and one other thing that DH loved (and spends many happy hours playing with)- a golf ball marker. They can stamp their initials on their balls then, or something...

With golf accessories you can spend as much or as little as you like, but don't spend much on tees because they keep losing them. You will need to know BIL's hand size for a glove. Also BIL's choice of golf balls might be very expensive so you might find it easier to stick to general accessories.

We struggle for DH's grandad every year. He's rich, can buy owt he wants and likes golf!

Last year we bought him a nice bottle of port and this to put it in. He absolutely loves it and it sits on his windowsill. DH's grandma says he honestly says it's the best present he's ever had. I think it's awful, but hey, we managed it. Now there's just this year to consider.

I got someone in the office to buy for in our office Secret Santa - I made two knitted golf club 'hats' with pompoms which turned out rather nicely - and didn't cost as much as the ones you can buy on-line.

Knitted golf club hats mistlethrush? I like the sound of those. Dh, as well as being a golf fanatic, is touchingly keen on stuff I've made. (Bless him). Is there a pattern anywhere? Or did you make it up?

I agree with finding out which balls he uses for golf and get a box of those.
