That will be why dd is beginning with the disrupted nights then! Every year it s the same. Used to be night terrors when she was smaller, nightmares now. Thought she would have grown out of it by now!

PeanutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2011 09:51

Wahooooooooooo Xmas Grin

Good Morning Mama just caught up on the other thread ((festive hug))

Hula is it because shes excited or does she have them all the time?

Hulababy · 19/12/2011 10:12

I think it is related to being excited. When she was smaller she always had night terrors int he run up to Christmas, birthdays, holidays etc. She's 9y now and still has disturbed nights at those times, often with a nightmare thrown in - far less frequently, so not every night in the run up like it used to be.

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 10:53

Oh Hula that doesn't sound nice. Spoils the fun. Shame we can't control our dreams / nightmares.

Morning peanuts Xmas Grin Any nice plans today? I got an empty house, minus the daft dog, and I shall play on my keyboard now. dum de dum de dum Xmas Grin

She's fine the rest of the time - just not in the early hours - ho hum!

Looking forward to Christmas now the holidays have begun!

PeanutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2011 10:58

I too have an even dafter dog perching on my knee Xmas Grin
Wheres DS today?

Im seeing my Best friend later to swap presents and cards and then the non perishable food shop

Wonders where mrs is? Xmas Grin

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 11:06

DS is in nursery. It's paid for anyway, so I might aswell enjoy my child-free days (tomorrow too). Santa is going to visit them tomorrow, he is beyond excited Xmas Grin

I have done a quick shop this morning 7.30am. It was empty. Could you possibly go tomorrow really early rather than in the day?

I am also wondering where Mrs is. Sleeping? She said she wouldn't be a headless chicken til Friday.

Right, off now. I promised DH that I would be better by tonight cause I still make far too many mistakes in some of the more difficult songs

Hello Mrs Christmas [bugger] Xmas Grin

You sound like a very good girl. Just taking a break from playing.

MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 13:51

Hello Mama !

Missed you recently !

Absolutely pouring here today. Supposed to get milder, but wetter. That I can cope with, don't mind getting wet.

Have got so used to snow over Christmas, it will be strange not to have ANY. Xmas Sad

Hopefully we will get LOADS after Christmas, and we can all spend a month sledging.....Xmas Grin

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 13:54

I caught up on 7 sleeps this morning, went to bed early.

It's pouring here too. Feel really sorry for our postie, he was soaked. I hope our Christmas card + tip will cheer him up later.

Fingers crossed for a white Christmas. I love snow!!!

MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 13:55

Where are you ? You are UK, aren't you ?

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 13:59

I live in Staffordshire. We had snow the last two years and it makes the day extra special.

OP posts:
MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 14:01

I thought you were UK. Someone said something yesterday at about 7pm ish about you being in bed and it made me go Hmmmmmm ?!

It does make the day extra special.

It gets really cold of an evening/night here, so I live in hope ! Xmas Grin

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 14:06

It is normal for me to be in bed by 9 though, so 7 isn't too far off. DS is just an early riser and still doesn't sleep through so I am always knackered by then.

It was frozen this morning. Gas fire keeping me warm at the moment. Don't really want to go out later to pick up DS from nursery, but well... Gosh, that sounds like I don't miss my son. It's just so cold and I am wrapped up warm and comfy in my joggers Xmas Grin

OP posts:
MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 14:09

Oh poor you. How old is DS ? I am a night person, much more so than morning ! I am usually up by between 8-9, but our day is not restricted by school-times etc, so maybe a bit easier for me ?

I know what you mean about keeping warm. The wind on Saturday was biting. One of those days where you go "must get a hat" and then once all snuggly and warm inside, forget till you go out again !

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 14:14

He is 2.4, still very young. I can count on one hand the times he has slept past 6am, but usually it is 5am. Then in term-time, because I am on supply, I need to drop him off at nursery by 7.30am so I am available for work (which rarely happens Xmas Sad). Today was nice, because I was able to take it easy and I didn't drop him off till 8.

Need to go to the loo, but the bathroom will be freezing Xmas Grin

OP posts:
MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 14:20

He is a diddy ! I don't think I can remember them that young ! Xmas Grin

My DD has always been an early riser, I think you just get used to it. Not so bad now she's older, she will stay in her room and play, or read a book. Not so easy when they are toddlers.

Drop him off at 7:30am ? Wow. That must make things harder. There's no work about anywhere atm I don't think. Xmas Sad DH has been out of work since the company he worked for went bust 2 years ago. It's shocking.

I hate cold loos. Xmas Smile Our downstairs loo has never worked, and we don't have a big shed in the garden so it houses the lawn mower (bloody thing !). Bathroom is lovely and warm.

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 14:27

He is a diddy indeed. Loving this age, he is 'getting' Christmas for the first time. So excited Xmas Grin

I can't wait for him to stay in his room a little longer. At the moment he comes into our bed with a book / puzzle / whatever and he wants to play at 5 effing am. This child has too much energy Xmas Grin

It's really rubbish without work and I know that others have the same problem. Poor your DH (and you), 2 years is a long time. Fingers crossed for a better year. There are tons of jobs for me, but they are all in Dubai, China, Oman... and I really don't want to leave the UK.

Loo was freezing, but I got a fresh cup of coffee and afterwards I shall go and play some music again.

OP posts:
MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 14:30

Christmas is great when they are little. Well, it still it, it just gets more expensive !

I think things are going to get worse before they get better. There is just nothing about. What annoys me is that everyone is lumped into the same category with people knowing why. And the govts. attitude is just appalling, but no more than I ever expected.

I've just had a coffee, I have folded the washing so I am going to sit here for a while !

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 14:33

I am dreading the Christmases when he wants / needs a laptop, iphone, bike... So cheap at the moment.

He isn't also a teacher by any chance? There are absolutely no jobs for me, I can't even apply anywhere. Trying to stay positive, but probably you are right and things will get worse.

Washing! Oh yes, forgot about that. I washed the bedding and it's finished in the drier, but can't be bothered to do put it back on now. Coffee is so much better. Xmas Grin

OP posts:
MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 14:38

Nope, DH not a teacher. You wouldn't believe me if I told you what he does...but it appears skilled workers are no longer relevant to the UK.

You have to be positive, but it's awful to see him doing job searches and coming up with nothing. We lost our car because we couldn't afford it, and all the jobs in his area all state now 'must have own vehicle', so basically a self-employed position. If we thought for one minute going self-employed was the right thing to do, he would have done it when he lost his job ! But it wouldn't have worked with a car anyway, because of insurance purposes.

I'm doing the bedding on Thursday, the dog is moulting and if I do it today it will only need doing again ! Xmas Grin

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 19/12/2011 14:44

That really sounds rubbish. Wish I could swing a magic wand and make your and my wishes come true.

You allow your dog in bed? Xmas Shock Ours isn't even allowed upstairs. We are mean Xmas Grin

Blimey, how late is it? It's almost time to get dinner ready. DH will be back at 3.30 and we always have very early dinner, by 4pm latest. And then we have to pick up the little one, keeping him in a little longer at the moment and enjoying peace and quiet. [insert selfish emoticon]

OP posts:
MrsChristmasDB · 19/12/2011 14:57

Tell me about it ! It's like when people mention the lottery...my Christmas treat might be to actually do it, once I have finished the shopping....if I have a spare £1 !

Yes, our dog is allowed on the bed ! We had 2, but my gorgeous girl died in September, aged 12 and a half. Bloody devastating.

It's funny, our boy NEVER got on the bed, it was always our girl, but since she has been gone, he climbs on the bed for a cuddle before he jumps down to sleep.

That's what I said, this week is going to fly. It's like it's been night-time here all day, it's so dark. Miserable weather. At least snow makes everything bright !

We have a later dinner now, usually between 5 and 6. Any earlier and end up snacking all night !

Peace and quiet ? I get that for about 3 hours of a night, once the DC have gone to bed, and before I go....I don't mind though, really.

They are watching 'Nativity' at the moment, I bought it back in August, and it's being shown on Friday, on BBC2. Typical. Makes a change from Home Alone though, which has them roaring.

I have let them watch it today, as Friday they may be being dragged round helping me with the supermarket shop ! Xmas Grin
