In theory she should be really easy to buy for as loves clothes, smellies, make up, and all girly things, but she has loads of all of the above so would welcome any ideas please.

Thanks!

Pil are staying for Christmas so a stocking containing Bombay sapphire gin, tonic, a lemon and truffles and her main gift is a radley purse.

Pixel · 05/12/2015 16:28

Haven't got any PIL, but if I did I'd be expecting Dh to come up with some ideas after all I have to think of everything else.

ohtheholidays · 05/12/2015 16:38

Bought MIL's and sent it this week.

Mil doesn't wear make-up or jewellery and isn't really into clothes or shoes but she does love Cats(she rescues them)I've bought her some Henry Cat pieces,a bag,a wooden hand painted tissue holder,a wooden hand painted memo note holder for going next to the phone,a mad cat lady pen from the Cat Charity(DH chose that)and a lovely bone china cup and will be sending a Christmas bouquet as well.

Hulababy · 05/12/2015 16:44

iPad case (FIL is getting her a new iPad - I know because I ordered it for him!), slippers and mug - from Radley, all in sale too so got more from there than planned.

To be honest I tend to do all of our Christmas present ordering and wrapping, even for my in laws. But we make decisions together, DH takes delivery of it all via work due to ease. And I see my in laws as my family too after all these years.

Costacoffeeplease · 05/12/2015 16:44

My mil is getting money on her kindle as she's quite elderly, doesn't get out much and is the exact opposite of girly - but she does read A LOT

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 05/12/2015 16:49

Colouring books & a really nice set of colouring pens.

I have reported that spam post, btw.

MrsHathaway · 05/12/2015 16:57

your best parson

Shit. ::adds vicar to Christmas list::

We have got MIL a case for her phone with the DC on it. Will have been Photobox or Truprint. Last year was leather gloves.

Lovelydiscusfish · 05/12/2015 19:58

Photo mug with dd on it (ordered online from Aldi photo, iirc) and I got some of those chocolate stirrer things from Lidl, which I will put in it (she doesn't use them to stir drinks, though, she just eats them like lollipops).
Not sure what dh has got her, tbh. He usually gets her something from Boden, or possibly restaurant vouchers. I just get her more of a token, really. Often a photo gift - she does really treasure them.

imwithspud · 05/12/2015 20:10

My mil has asked for some slippers and an adult colouring book, also got her some colouring pens to go with it. And we've done a photobook of the DC's as a present to both mil and fil.

Bombaybunty · 05/12/2015 20:11

A basket.
It's a hand made willow shopping basket, very traditional.
Hope she likes it!

WhatWouldFlopDo · 05/12/2015 20:15

Restaurant vouchers for her and FIL

Ragwort · 05/12/2015 20:19

Anyone else dreading becoming a MIL and having this sort of thread about them? Hmm

I hope to goodness I don't get endless photo gifts you can't even donate them to a charity shop - my DS hasn't even got a girl friend yet but would it be the done thing to state immediately 'please don't feel you have to buy me presents - I have everything I need or want'. The only gift I appreciate these days is a charity gift.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 05/12/2015 21:42

My MIL is lovely but very reserved and difficult to buy for. I once got her a yoga mat and dvd that went down like a lead balloon, but there's never any reaction anyway, so this year I'm going to be a little daring again. DD is always getting MIL to draw with her and she's obviously got a knack (inherited by my DH). We're getting her some art supplies to get started with and a book and workbook called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

freedom2011 · 05/12/2015 22:03

A digital photo frame to display the pictures she's taken on her digital camera which was her birthday gift in the summer.a paint your darling set. It's a set where you choose a photo, send it off and it gets transferred into a paint by numbers picture that you can then paint yourself - marking it look like you've painted a portrait yourself in black white and grey shades- the results look quite smart.

I think a lot of these gifts sound kind and thoughtful ragwort maybe they're just not your sort of thing but I'm sure your kids and partners will come up with something you really like. Smile

crispytruffle · 05/12/2015 22:10

Nothing she has never bought me a present so I don't her.

StealthPolarBear · 05/12/2015 22:11

Half a nas box and a bully woof

cece · 05/12/2015 22:12

DH boys DMIL present. He has bought her a new dictionary - it is what she asked for apparently. He has thrown in a thesaurus for good measure.

shutupandshop · 05/12/2015 22:13

Whatever dh buys the old witch

Donge13 · 05/12/2015 22:14

Afternoon tea on a steam train

PennyHasNoSurname · 05/12/2015 22:16

I do her the same thing every year as she loves it:-

Gift box with bits in - mini wines, a novel, chocolate, a couple of bottles of her favourite shower gel, a new scarf, a pair of earrings.

Schoolchauffeur · 05/12/2015 22:18

Mil is getting a jumper with pics on very relevant to a particular interest of hers and fil a jacket I found at bargain price in TK maxx. Jointly they are getting tickets to a concert and a hotel stay in the city where the concert is. I think (hope) they will really like it- it's a joint Christmas and birthday for them both.

ChubbyKitty · 05/12/2015 22:20

Every year we buy each other slippers, so she's getting them, and dh is finding something for her to go with them. Goodness knows what yet but I'll keep you posted Wink

HoneyDragon · 05/12/2015 22:23

I buy for my Mil as I love her very much, Dh will buy as well if he sees something nice.

So far however all she has is soap, very nice soap, but nonetheless less soap, and a renewal for her and fils theatre subscription. We're currently bickering as neither of us can think of anything we'd like for Christmas Grin

HarrysMummy17 · 05/12/2015 22:23

My mil is a nightmare to buy for. She has ms and struggles with mobility, she never leaves the house and spends all day everyday on the sofa I front of the tv.

Any books or DVDs we've brought her are on the shelf untouched.

Pictures and canvases are in a cupboard. Ornaments are still boxed!

I have no clue! She has no hobbies. She's also diabetic and allergic to egg and milk so food gifts are out of the question!!

I'm so stuck!!
