Christmas Eve DVD

Every year in the Chasse household, on Christmas Eve there are two little parcels left on the hearth. One's a Christmas DVD and the other is a bag of popcorn, and we all watch it together.

This year, it's my turn to buy the DVD, so I'm looking for inspiration! What are your favourite Christmas films? (Age doesn't really matter, as the youngest is my DB who's 14, but we all enjoyed the Polar Express last year Smile)

Have you seen Nativity! ? That's brilliant, we watched it last year and it's definitely become a firm favourite. Smile

SingingSands · 20/11/2011 15:58

Oh yes, Nativity is fab! Took DD to see it when it was in the cinema! Really lovely and very Christmassy.

FaverollesWithBoughsOfHolly · 20/11/2011 16:02

Elf is brilliant.

SingingSands · 20/11/2011 16:02

Also fab are:

Muppet's Christmas Carol
Elf
Home Alone
The Polar Express (we watched this last year)
The Snowman/Father Christmas
Santa Clause: The Movie
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (PG)

Lauzifer · 20/11/2011 16:03

Elf or National Lampoons christmas vacation

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 20/11/2011 16:05

Nativity - such a joyous film.

Die Hard for the grown ups!

ScatterChasse · 20/11/2011 16:13

Ooh, we haven't seen Nativity, it sounds just right Smile

We had White Christmas the year before last which was lovely. Even better, because it did snow on Christmas Eve

Elf's really funny!

We're going for Nativity this year too

Sirzy · 20/11/2011 16:18

The Santa clause is fantastic!

BetterThanChocolate · 20/11/2011 16:19

Love Actually. We often watching it on Chritsmas Eve and I think it's a lovely film

ScatterChasse · 20/11/2011 16:22

DB refuses to watch Love Actually! He thinks bits of it namely people kissing Grin are really embarrassing.

Elf's great. I thought we may have to start rotating, but it looks like there are plenty of Christmassy films left Smile

Another vote for Nativity! My new fave.

MartyrStewart · 20/11/2011 16:32

Elf is very funny.

LolaLadybird · 20/11/2011 17:53

I love Love Actually as a Christmas film! Holiday with Kate Winslet/Cameron Diaz also v good but - again - lots of people kissing!

Oh, and Bridget Jones (the first one) - starts and ends at Christmas.

Am off to have a look at Nativity on Amazon ...

spicyorange · 20/11/2011 17:57

The grinch
muppets xmas carol i love this
scrooge albert finney version

Lauzifer · 20/11/2011 17:59

Bad Santa is great if you don't mind a bit of effing and jeffing

LolaLadybird · 20/11/2011 18:01

Nativity has some really good reviews on Amazon.

Don't wish to hijack, but do you think a 4 and a 6 year old would enjoy it?

CDMforever · 20/11/2011 19:10

We'll be watching the animated Scrooge with Jim Carrey (minus DCs)

ThatllDoPig · 20/11/2011 19:11

Muppet Christmas Carol!!
We watch it every Christmas eve, its fab.

RedBlanket · 20/11/2011 19:15

Nativity is really good, DCs loved it, funny with just enough Christmas cheesiness!

I can't go to bed on Christmas eve till I've watched The Snowman!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 20/11/2011 19:23

Lola Nativity is good for all ages, theres humour at all levels. My daughter was 6, and me and DP also laughed loads. :)

breadandhoney · 20/11/2011 19:23

Watching popcorn...now that's a new one on me Grin

Elf and Miracle on 34th Street are favourites in this house.

breadandhoney · 20/11/2011 19:25

Oh and how could I forget It's a Wonderful Life!

LaurieFairyCake · 20/11/2011 19:27
