I always intend to but end up not bothering. I was contemplating buying some tissue paper this year so I can do a half arsed job of it

Well, it would appear to be an overwhelming yes.

Tissue paper it is though. I am possibly the world's worst wrapper

Yes, of course.

Santa even has his own paper - a different one for each child that he uses.

It usually says 'from Santa' on it too.

But I am a bit sad mad about Christmas

simpson · 15/11/2011 23:50

yes I tend to wrap most of the pressies but not every little bit of tat

mumeeee · 15/11/2011 23:50

J have never wrapped stocking presents, Didn't even cross my mimd and I was surprised when I discovered that other people do wrap them. It never spoiled the magig.

Whether you wrap or don't wrap, can I ask, do you tend to remove any packaging from the item ( I'm talking toys really I suppose) before wrapping or placing into the stocking?

I can't seem to remember what my parents did for us but think they may have unpackaged them for that "FC made them in his toy factory for you" feel Grin though I do distinctly remember unwrapping other larger presents on my bed so maybe they were packaged and wrapped Confused

I suppose it doesn't matter (my DP would laugh at me for writing this) but in the spirit of tradition I am asking.

I think for DS who will receive mainly small toys/instruments it will be unwrapped and unpackaged

Shodan · 29/11/2011 08:38

I was wondering that, joymaker. I can't recall anything being still in packaging in our stockings, but then the only things I can remember (apart from the apple, satsuma and shiny pennies) are a book and some reels of cotton. So no packaging there anyway. I was contemplating taking off the plastic wrapper on the orange and lemon slices for ds2 but then thought maybe that would just lead to an over-excited 4 year old eating the entire packet in one go and me waking to the smell of vomit...

Anyway. I wrap everything in stockings, in different paper from the rest of the presents.

I love wrapping though- I have a little camping table and chair and the wrapping paper is stored in a tall plastic bin for ease of use Blush

Yes of course Father Christmas and the elves wrap all presents, even stocking ones and in seperate wrapping paper Grin

joymaker · 29/11/2011 09:13

Grin Thanks Shodan you sound mighty organised.

BluddyMoFo and Peanuts okay but does FC take the toys out of the packaging?

wonderfultykes · 29/11/2011 09:14

Yes most but not all of it. The odd bit i leave unwrapped for a change.

Public Service Announcement: I bought 3 WHSmith wrapping paper, 2 for normal presents, 1 different design for Stocking. But got home to find they all have cutting grid printed on reverse and says WHSmith. so you can't use it for stocking things. Which is a pain. So had to go get anoter roll. Grrr

Yes I wrap everything, usually in Santa paper if I can find any! Kids love but does take hours to do presents for 3!

DeckTheHugeWithBoughsOfManatee · 30/11/2011 23:03

The stocking is the wrapper.

MercyDulbottle · 30/11/2011 23:32

really confused - is the stocking a seperate thing from big presents, but are these big presents also from santa?

We just hang up a big christmassy sack, well, lay it over the back of a chair, in the morning it is full of stuff big and small, the bigger stuff that doesn't fit in is just piled around the sack on/by the chair.

everything is wrapped.

PeanutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 01/12/2011 08:03

Yes Mercy we used to have a stocking (pillowcase) at the end of bed with WRAPPED small presents in
Then we had other presents downstairs near the tree a mix of from Santa and family Grin

Tillyscoutsmum · 01/12/2011 09:05

We have a stocking (although its more of a sack) with small presents (this year, mostly wrapped in tissue paper with things like choc coins and other little bits unwrapped). We then have big presents around the tree - some from F.C. and others from us and other family

Oh and I forgot to say...

IT'S DECEMBER Grin

Bramshott · 01/12/2011 09:10

Oh Lord no! I think I did the first year with DD1 though !

joymaker · 01/12/2011 09:13

Mercy When I was growing up we had stocking presents and some which were maybe too large to fit in the stocking placed at the foot of our beds -I can vividly remember waking when my foot pushed up against a wrapped present Grin. All presents under the tree were from family only (I come from a big family so there were many under there already)

There was a thread about this recently I'm sure, I'll see if I can link it for you...

joymaker · 01/12/2011 09:14

... this is it
